I was watching some random videos on Youtube when I checked IM-Becoming Insane and saw that it has over 4 million views! I felt that this is sad that a crappy track like that got so many views, but soon I realised that their classic track Psycho has almost 2 million views! That's both bad and good IMO. Good cause Psycho is a REAL Psytrance track that represents both old school and more new sound and although popularity can kill the quality ofa music scene (IMO) a track like that can show to some outsider what REAL psytrance is. From the other hand if you check the comments you'll notice that many outsiders (ppl unrelated to the psy scene) think that Psycho is a great track-which it is- but also Becoming Insane! They refer to both tracks as Psychedelic Trance! I don't want ppl to believe that Pop Psy like Becoming Insane has anything to do with Psytrance at all! I'm afraid of the consequences. Random ppl going to parties to listen Rap 'n' Psy? This is the future of our scene? Hell no! But once again seeing ppl love Psycho maybe motivating them to check other Psy classics like Transwave, Simon or Etnica which is eventually good. Discuss

Orbit Constructions-Androneda 1. Eye Of Vecna 2. Quest For The Holy Snail 3. Abandoned Tomb 4. Hypernova 5. Bridge Under Construction 6. Church Of Emeralds 7. Thirteen Kings 8. Lost Spider Samples Orbit Constructions is no one else but Luna Orbit, the man behind Dark Nebula and Digital Psionics label. This is his ambient project. I bought this album because of the old school artwork and the comment of the guy who sold it to me that ‘it’s like you’ve been in a spaceship kind of music…’ He was almost right. I would describe this album as ‘it’s like you are floating in space kind of music’. Androneda is a dark ambient album maybe too dark for some, filled with amazing sounds of a star dying, a black hole devours everything, the spin of a galaxy. This is what I imagine when I listened to it. Every track has something to give you. The haunted Eye Of Vecna, the ‘voyage to the sun’ Quest For The Holy Snail, the abstract Abandoned Tomb, the outer space beach Hypernova, the pessimistic Bridge Under Construction, the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, sad, lonely, divine, dramatic Church Of Emeralds, the space-ambient-at-its-best Thirteen Kings and the moist Lost Spider. What I found really genious in this album is that it’s more than spookiness and pads overload. It has great melodies that coming from the void, effects made by universe itself and a great dose of melancholia. The production is dirty exactly like it must be for an album like that. Not just my favourite 2008 ambient album, but one of the best albums I’ve ever listened! Absolutely amazing!!! 10/10

Polyphonia-Future World 1. Future World 2. Voodoo Style 3. Other Reality 4. Altered States 5. Viva La Revolution 6. Distorted Reality 7. Expander Of The mind 8. Spiritual War 9. The Last One 10. Volt Thrower Samples This is the first album of Greek producer Romolo Cherie. I put Future World in the same category with The Nommos, Psykovsky, Derango and KinDzaDza. It’s dark psy, but music made for the mind. Polyphonia is really a mind expanding kind of music, futuristic yet spiritual, a marriage between machine and human. The style here is dark. Real dark, not cliché stuff. It’s filled with transforming sounds floating all over which blending into a obscure chaos. It’s spacey, mind expanding and psychedelic in its real meaning of the world=soul confession. The bassline although monotonous fits perfectly with the effects. There’s no real melodies except some lines scattered around that appear and dissapear through the rest of the mayhem. To be honest I was waiting for more of these lines, exactly in the same way of his Challo track in Worldbridger compilation. The only track that really reminds me of that track is Volt Thrower, which I guess is a tribute to the metal band Bolt Thrower. There’s a guitar sample at the start right before the track opens your mind and distorts reality. Unbelievable! Other great tracks are Altered States, Distorted Reality, Mind Expander and The Last One although all of them work great for why they were made after all... tripping! At the end, this is music difficult to be described with words. It’s this kind of music made not to be danced wild in a party, but for mind travelling while you' re sitting around fire, somewhere deep in a forest, watching the dark sky and use a lot of acid. It’s not a perfect album, since some tracks could be done better, but this is for sure Ritual Music! 9/10

Your reviews rock man! Keep them coming!

I decided to start some mini-reviews in the reviews forums. My first one is Psyfactor-Aries Madness in 2008 subforum. Like I said instead of a full review I will post a mini-review about the album in general. It's easy to write and to read, so I hope others will follow too. (I still like the big reviews though). If any of the mods or Mars himself doesn't like my idea then he can delete it anytime!

Psyfactor-Aries Madness 1. Bad Mojo 2. Angel Wrath 3. Sectoid 4. Waves from the crypt 5. Gyroball 6. Death Monsture 7. Scratches 8. Intoxicated 9. Aries Madness Samples That’s the third album by Psyfactor and the second dance one. Here we have a very nice atmospheric dark album that really stays away from the stereotypical dark sound of the last two years. All then tracks are powerful and energetic, but I would call this ‘’a gentle powerful album’’. There’s no random madness, or over-the-top heavy beats, instead the tracks build very nice with some scary gothic-ish pads and nice melodic lines floating over the kick and the bassline. The high filtered, chainsaw styled synths are here again, giving to the album a schizofrenic attitude. All tracks are top notch, but my favorite is Sectoid, a really scary fairytale reminds me a bit of the LOS-Otherside. Other great tracks are Scratches a dark track filled with eerie sounds and very haunted pads, Waves From The Crypt and Intoxicated. The production/mastering is AAA and don't be confused by the cover there's no satanistic samples inside Overall that’s a great album, one of the best dark psy of 2008. It’s highly recommended to anyone interested in dark psytrance with a melodic touch and some chilling moments. 8/10

I experienced that problem even when I snap the beat or even smallest quantize. -

Ormion replied to Ormion's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Here's an image to make more clear what I mean The file at the red circle is not at the start of the beat, but slightly sooner. You can see that it's a very, very small amount of time, but still! Like I said the snap is activated -
I have a problem with Cubase lately that realy pissed me off and I can't fix it. I create an event or import an audio file, ok? Then I dublicate it or repeat it. The snap is activate, yet the events/files sometimes miss the bar by some microseconds. Instead of being exactly at the start of each bar/beat/any quantize I'm using they start a bit sooner or later. And I'm talking about micro-microseconds here. The distance is so small that you can't hear the difference in more sounds, but in some sounds with short attack (like some kicks I'm using) you can notice it. I've never noticed the problem in the past and I'm really curious why it's happening. Now keep in mind that I use a pirate copy of Cubase SX that has already some problems (it crashes all the time). Maybe because of that? It's really annoying because although you can barely hear the difference I have to move every event and file manually to the exact start! Any ideas?
