Not just Mindsphere, but every new Goa release. Check out the overall quality of Golden Vibes 2 compilation. These albums/comps must be released in cd format. I don't run a label, nor have any idea about financial stuff, but I believe that if the labels manage to find the perfect amount of how many copies must be printed they can make profit. I understand that releasing a cd in our downloading era might be risky, but I believe that is easier for small labels, since they don't have to pay a lot of money to famous artists. I have spoken with guys that run very small labels, releasing 500 limited copies cds and they said that they still make a good profit. So, I don't know if it's so risky at the end. About Mindsphere I know the story of Metapsychic, so it would be awesome if another label could release it. Imagine it with a great mastering and a shiny digipack. I know that many young Psyheads are interesting in Goa. You can see that even in the review section of Isratrance. Filteria's second album gained a hell of alot attention in a site known for its killargh comments in random crap. Like I said before, the only way to have a new Goa trance rebirth, is to have cd releases. Downloadng and sharing stuff is an extremely easy way to make the music known, but it won't last. It's gonna be a fad, a trend, before some other genre takes the lead. But having a cd release it changes everything. It's official! Ppl will look for it in the future. I'm afraid that most of the downloading music (of every kind) will be forget in the listeners' hard drives after some years. So yes, I'm with Mars here.

Please read: I already edited my reply for both dance and ambient stuff. In my downtempo list I chose SynSUN-Unstoppable album. This is a double album, the first cd is dance and the second ambient. It counts, right?
-
+1 I hate downloading! I want to have the cd, touch the digipack and read the booklet. A download colection... well it's not a collection!
-
I tried to, but I have forgot how to work with the charts.

FROZEN GHOST - EDIBLE TECHNIQUE TRACKLIST: Frozen Ghost - Ned’s Mental Frozen Ghost - Frozen Toast V2 Frozen Ghost - Multiprey Frozen Ghost - Deranger Dirty Motion - Control Freak Hiyarant - Red Coat (Frozen Ghost remix) Frozen Ghost - E=Mentally Squared Frozen Ghost - Icey Binge Of The Bio Shrimp Frozen Ghost – Edible Technique Style: South African Full On Artwork: Matt Mills Mastering: Smugg Juggler Discogs: http://www.discogs.com/release/1101992 Samples: http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=6838 ---------- This is the second album of South African producer Barry Wynne. Expect nothing less than funky, stomping psytrance! Ned’s Mental There’s nothing better to start your day with the best breakfast. And Ned’s Mental is as tasty as a track can be. If you’re not familiar with Frozen Ghosts’ sound this is the track to start with. Frozen Ghost means power, funky mood, a dose of darkness, techno rhythms, trancey melodies and a lot of dancing. And there’s not other track out there that will shake your body more than Ned’s Mental. The first half is filled with a groovy feeling and crazy sounds. You can’t keep your feet on the ground listening to his uncanny bassline, it’s powerful yet not annoying. All the melodies of the first half just prepare you for what is coming. And what is coming in the second part is a superb melody, so simple yet psychedelic, so serious yet funny! You can hear it building and building and the kick starts again with half the power. The melody dissapears and the madness starts again. But you know that the melody will return, you can feel it. And when it does you fly. Seriously, this track can’t be called dancefloor killer. Find a new word for that. The minute from 04:51 to 05:44 will raise the dead. One of the best tracks of 2007. 10/10 Frozen Toast V2 If anyone has listened to the original Frozen Toast knows what kind of superb track it is. The remix continues the journey. Although not better than the original version (the known remixes law=A remix is rarely better) its more than great. Just like the original Frozen Toast this is propably one the darkest tracks of the album. Don’t expect spooky pads or horror samples, but a good old school-ish dark atmosphere. The melodies are simply amazing, They're coming from the void before they return to it and a acidic layer follows the trip. For the second version Barry plays a lot with the melodies. He breaks them, before they blast you again. It’s way too psychedelic and again a track that you must dance at. Not better than the original, but simply amazing. 9/10 Multiprey Here we get another great track. There is a very nice snare pattern and the track is phat just like I want it. In this one we get even more acidic stuff. They used how 303 used to be used in the old days. The follow the lead and participate to the madness. Soon the powerful leads start and fly all over your speakers. The leading melody has this special feeling of Frozen Ghost. Is it too serious or something I can smile with? Actually it’s both. Beautiful track. 8/10 Deranger Damn that’s all of phat acid! This one takes the schizoprenic jumping noises of the previous tracks and multiplies them. There’s something haunted about this track. There’s a dark cloud that flows like a pad, while the phat madness underneath becomes more and more intense. Sometimes the track becoming insanely phat and too much in your face, but that’s the good thing. What? You like a more whispering kind of psy? Stay away from this track! Damn again! 8/10 Control Freak By Dirty Motion aka Frozen Ghost and Hiyarant. Ok, this one is crazy. Nothing less to expect by those two guys. This track takes a more serious direction. It’s less funky, but thankfully still pumping. Very pumping actually! The techno tempo works fantastic and the place of the more clear leads of the previous tracks takes here a combination of sounds that create a wall of power. It’s more Frozey than Hiyarant style, it’s his album after all, but you can recognize Stuart’s style too. Very good! 8/10 Red Coat (Frozen Ghost remix) Here is the story. Frozen Ghost remixes a Hiyarant track in his album and Hiyarant a Frozen Ghost’s in his. (BTW it’s called Collison and you must check it, it’s awesome too). You can hear something different. There’s a melody that plays through the entire track and has a tragic feeling in it. Now, Barry takes the metallic madness of Hiyarant and add phatness. Go figure! This track has no humour like the rest, but still has a funkyness. It’s also the track with the more industrial feeling and gives me the image of an abandoned warehouse. Why? Dunno. Anyway it’s amazing an track. 8.5/10 E=Mentally Squared Wow! What an anthem! Just listen how he plays with the percussion. Kick ass. The first melody is filled with humour. It reminds me of Bugs Bunny, seriously. But after some seconds the main lead enters. This is trancey!!! After a while the lead vanishes, but you know that Barry just saves his bullets for the final round. A big atmospheric break just to relax a bit, before the dance starts again. Oh and yes, the lead is back, slightly different with a few note changes that make it even more ecstatic. I wanted more to be honest, but still got a big dose. 10/10 Icey Binge Of The Bio Shrimp This track reminds me of the summer. Maybe it’s because of the shrimp. The first two minutes are basically an easygoing breakbeat intro with the first sample for what will come. Soon, the melodic bassline hits the floor and you don't have to be Nicola Tesla to realize that the lead will be the same with the bass’ melody. It is and works. Just like the first and the previous track this one is really focused in the melodies and I love it. It’s energetic and powerful, just like good full on must be. The melodic ending stands as one of the highlights of the album. 9/10 Edible Technique Let’s end with another stomper, right? Wrong! Let’s end with an amaaazing midtempo track. This one proves the true talent of Barry, When you thought that his dance tracks are basically layer over layer of madness, Edible Technique comes to show you the ability of Barry in pure writing and arranging. Do you remember the fantastic MFG track Metamorphosis from the Project Genesis album? Well Edible Technique is te closest I can think of Metamorphosis 2007. It even has some sounds coming straight from the old MFG days. It has a great ‘green’ colour. The melodies are mind expanding, probably the best of the whole album and the pads are combined so good with them that makes you fly. And it’s phat! Just check those blasting snares! Totally amazing, we need a full power version of this track. 10/10 OVERALL If you need a psychedelic album that it’s filled with true power it's an one way street. Buy this one! It takes the phatness of the South African psy in higher levels. It keeps the more techno roots of the early Frozen Ghost works, but adds a strong dose of pure psytrance and much more power. It’s essential. And it’s amazing how much Barry perfected his music. One of the best albums of 2007. 8.94/10 Why purchase: If you like phat South African psy this one is a must! Why skip: If you don’t like in-your-face, non-stop-stomping psytrance, stay away.

I actually meant that albums like that must be released in cd format by their labels. They could print less copies if they're afraid for low sales. I'm not talking specifically about this one, since I know the story of Metapsychic, but to have a new goa rebirth we need more cd releases IMO.

The Worst, most pitful excuses for albums 2007
Ormion replied to abasio's topic in General Psytrance
Is really that bad? Considering that I never liked their debut album, I can't even think how bad this will sound in my ears! Cult status reached? -
HELICON IN TRANCE THE UNDERGROUND SOUNDS OF ATHENS TRACKLIST: Mind Antivirus - Setup.Exe N.O.M. - Helicon Phovos And Deimos - Crisp Meadow Double Trouble - Dance Upper Pressure Dark Elf - X Cymazz - Mind Control Room Narcosis - The Doll Master Septagram - Gone Fishin' 5ips1s - Pall Bearer Style: Dark Psy Artwork: Sugahtank Mastering: The Chief Discogs: http://www.discogs.com/release/956335 Samples: http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=7020 ---------- This is the first release of the Greek label Helicon Sound System, focusing directly into dark psychedelic. All the artists of this compilation are Greek and most of them have been appeared in several Moonsun records releases. MIND ANTIVIRUS-Setup.exe Just when you think that a compilation like that would open with a dark blaster, this track surprises you with its fresh style. It’s basically a downtempo track that flirts with the dark genre, but also has some dub and IDM elements. The intro is funky and warms your heart, while the rest of it sounds like a broken experimental track. It has some repepetive melodies and a bass kind of annoying, but works great with all the abnormality of this track. It’s difficult to categorize it and it works great as the opening tune, but it’s not my cup of tea. 5/10 N.O.M.-Helicon Now we enter the real dark territory with N.O.M. aka Nature Of Mind. The bass hits you right in the face, although I would call it more hypnotic than powerful. It’s loud and almost covers the whole track and being basically a 1-note baslsine doesn’t help. But after a while something happens. The bass keeps the same, but some beautiful fairie sounds make you smile and keep you interested before the melodies hit you. Melodies? Oh yes, melodies! I would easily call it a dark melodic track. Don’t expect complex uplifiting stuff. No, after all the track never misses its dark purpose. It’s hypnotic and trippy, not powerful, not in your face psychedelia. And guess what. At the end the bassline seems to work. It flows smoothly with the track. This is a great track, different and unique. 9/10 PHOVOS AND DEIMOS-CRISP MEADOW This is a project of Narcosis and N.O.M. They have collaborated before in the Narcosis album with a very good tune. From the first seconds it's obviously that it's much more powerful and intense than the first two tracks, but still keeps a hypnotic tempo. If you can’t stand the 1-note bassline this one won’t work for you. The sound is crystal clear and the creepy effects are trippy enough to satisfy you for the lack of big surprises. I would call it typical. 6/10 DOUBLE TROUBLE-Dance Upper Pressure Double Trouble is a project of Dark Elf and Apnea. Ok, the time has come for the first stomper. Straight to 150 bpm this track is not really different from the n-th dark psy track ou there, but still has its moments. There are some forest melodies scattered around and many ‘out of your headphones’ effects. If you like intense dark psychedelia this one is made for you and you will forgive it its flaws. Nice. 7/10 DARK ELF-X This is an artist that all his tracks for some unknown synaesthetic reason ‘sound’ purple in my ears. Dark purple actually. This one is a real atmospheric track and has a great forest feeling. From the ‘airy’ first part to the last part with an incomplete melody, this one is tasty. You can hear the work of this artist. No randomness, everything sounds in place. Very good. 7.5/10 CYMAZZ-Mind Control Room This guy goes straight to the top of the ‘braincells killing’ artists. It’s not that he uses as many in-your-face psychedelia he can, but the acidness of his sounds. Acidness in its true meaning. Noises that really enter your brain and fry your cells. Acid drops in your mind. It’s a great piece of the art of psychedelia. Sounds Russian, but even more crazy. We need more like this. 8.5/10 NARCOSIS-The Doll Master Here we have one talented artist with already an album released in Moonsun records. (Check it out, it’s really good). Narcosis is known for his reverb-dark-acid noises that uses in his track. This track couldn’t be different, but he never crosses the line. Unfortunately. The last minutes are great with a great dose of noisy paranoia, but many tracks in his album offer more. It’s not revolutionary, but works. Forest feeling in it too. 7.5/10 SEPTAGRAM-Gone Fishin' Septagram are Dark Elf and Darkshire. This is dark! For sure! Pads and reverb effects always work, check this track if you don’t believe me. But that’s not enough. So they add a spooky melody for the second part. It’s haunted and works great with the rest of the track, giving to it a dreamy effect. I like this track. It has almost all that you need from this kind of music. It lacks pure inspiration, but it pays you back with some good chills. 8/10 5IPS1S-Pall Bearer Before anything, go listen the 5ips1s track in the Narcosis album. You haven’t heard before more brain frying music! 5ips1s is the creation of two strange minds. Narcosis and Cymazz, This is badass energetic psychedelia. It’s fast, maybe too fast for many listeners, but certainly not ridiculously gabba-style. This one is also the most dance-y track of the compilation. While the rest of the tracks are based in hypnotic rhytmns and atmospheric patterns this is straight to the bone psy. Call me crazy, but I will call this track as the new Rave. Ok, Rave On Acid! Not for the lighthearted! 9.5/10 OVERALL This compilation is really good. Simple as that. Many tracks are miles away from the stereotypical dark psy madness and the few that sound like that are certainly above the average. Judging by some previous tracks you can definitely see a great leap forward to more mature and professional producing for these artists. They have mastered their techniques and they are messing with our minds more. Oh, and we need a 5ips1s album. Recommended. 7.55/10 Why purchase: Not the typical dark psy. N.O.M. and 5ips1s are fantastic! Why skip: You don’t like anything that starts with dark and ends with psy.

That's a great album. Although some tracks don't stick in the mind, it's great old school-ish Goa. To Infinity is indeed a fantastic track with great melodies. Pure uplifting experience. Painful Stories is awesome too. It has a melancholc feeling in it, especially when the key changes. Overall 9/10 +1 New Goa must be released in cd format. It's the only way to recognition IMO.

+1 I think that they should release an ambient album. They still write great ambient tracks. Check out Kalevala, 100% TE style!

This beautiful liquid Goa bass
Ormion replied to Ormion's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I can't without listening. I just mess with the oscillators and filters and of course I use a good chorus! I think with the correct chorus you can liquify your bass enough. I have my own technique in sound designing. I call it ''mess and listen''. -
This beautiful liquid Goa bass
Ormion replied to Ormion's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I actually know how to create a ''liquid'' bassline, but I find that some vst's have more 'capacity' for what I'm looking for. The perfect example I have to give is Green Nuns Of The Revolution-Two Vindaloos & An Onion Baggees. Other tracks with basslines I'm looking for are MFG-Intelligent Machine and Talamasca-Sinai. Filteria-Heliopolis album has some great liquid basses, unlike his first album which has more ''dirty modulated'' bass. -

Even if you paid me I wouldn't want Joujouka! I suggest you to burn their cds! Make a favor to humanity!

Saturnalia was, is and will be the best dark track ever!!! This track sounds so modern even for today standards! And it was made 10 years ago! Damn, Pete Martin was a genius!
-
A masterpiece! Intelligent Machine and Why? are two of the best dark Goa tracks ever! On Mars and Metamorphosis are equally amazing. The rest of the tracks are great too. 10/10

Hey! I didn't make this topic for competition! I'm just happy that I can enjoy any kind of Psy. After all Abasio beats me! About minimal... Well minimal for me is synonyme to relaxing. That's why I love so much minimal ambient. When it comes in dance music I want something energetic. Except some minimal dance tracks that have a melancholic feeling. These I like!

This beautiful liquid Goa bass
Ormion replied to Ormion's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I know that you can create a liquid bass with almost every synth, but they are certainly some vst's that are more capable for this. For example the old Neon vst is better for tough and dirty bass, while the LinPlug's Alpha is perfect for liquid bass. When I asked for a vst I didn't expect to find one with a bunch of presets, but a vst's more capable for this sound. I'm looking something like rgcaudio Triangle II. Or a 303 clone ( I have one, but I'm not that satisfied) -
Infected vs Astral vs Posford vs Cropcircles/Pleiadians
Ormion replied to Lu Bu's topic in General Psytrance
Infected Mushroom: Legendary group that pushed forward the Goa sound in a more dark, gothic and freestyle direction. They made some legendary tracks and for years are considered to be the Mozarts of Psy trance. They abandoned the Psy world either for money, fame or because they bored the scene. I believe it's the second one: fame. I don't believe they ever gonna return back. The only road they wanna walk is the one that leads to more fame. One day they hit the no.1 in the UK and US charts. Mark my words. Astral Projection: The most influential, archetypical and legendary Psy/Goa group ever. They never sold out their music (except for Ten, they let other artist do it for them ). They still have potential and I think that what they're trying to do with their new stuff is to satisfy both old and new psyheads. If Goa become the new leading genre they would return in their old style IMO. Etnica/Pleiadians/Crop Circles: The group that made the best electronic dance tracks ever, hands down! When they were in their peak of creativity no one could compared with them. Since Andrea and Carlo left the group they took the downhill. Max and Maurizzio are obviously talented, but lack in the melody creation. They should left Pleiadians project dead, instead of resurrected it with an album that has nothing to do with their old stuff. They can screw the Etnica project as they want. Since the release of Nitrox, Etnica officially died. Still capable for great tracks though and nice to see that they returned to the melodic style. Simon Posford: Legendary artist that worshipped like a god during the years, mostly because the small amount of tracks he have created, especially in the dance field. Kind of overrated IMO still is a very productive artist and a musical genius. If Hallucinogen 3 ever released it will have to deal with a decade and more of high expectations, so it will be difficult to satisfy even if it's the best album ever. -

Never loved this album, actually. And there's areason about it. It's called ''Celtic melodies''. Don't dig them Snakey Shaker still is THE killer though.
