Never cared about DJ's and never will!

Well after some years in this forum I can finally say it. I have the broadest taste in Psy than any other member, including DP. And you know what? I'm happy about it! I can listen and enjoy to: Goa, Freestyle, Full On, Dark, Progressive, Ambient, Suomi, Aussie, morning, spooky, sad, happy, serious, cheesy, mind expanding, mind destroying, powerful, soft, shamanic, technologic, weird, weirder, anything and everything!!! The only stuff I don't like that much are: Minimalism (in dance psy), house influenced stuff, clubby mainstream tracks (all kind of styles) and too much dub in Ambient. That's all! Give me: Astral Projection, Koxbox, Hallucinogen, MFG, Infected Mushroom, Shakta, The Muses Rapt, Salakavala, Texas Faggott, Eraser vs Yojalka, S-Range, Vibrasphere, Shift, Khopat, Miraculix, Sattel Battle, Twisted System, Magus, Xenomorph, Cosmo, Psykovsky, Midi Miliz, The Nommos, Datakult, Aes Dana, Astralasia, Safi Connection, Scozbor, Squaremeat, Vishnudata, Dark Elf, XV Kilist, Toi Doi, Bluetech, Taj Mahal, Phobium! You name it, I like it! :posford: What about you?

I'm talking about legal downloading. Releases that are available by their labels only through the net. Mindsphere-Inner Cyclone by Metapsychic records for example. Does it count?

The Worst, most pitful excuses for albums 2007

Normally I will discuss your opinion, but I already know that for both of you Psytrance means Simon Posford and nothing else. -
The Worst, most pitful excuses for albums 2007
Ormion replied to abasio's topic in General Psytrance
Well, just because some random guy decided to release some shitty stuff under a name like The Devil Worshipper doens't mean that the whole Dark scene is pure shit IMO. I think that you just have to filter each subgenre individually. I'm saying that because I believe that 2007 was a very good year for the Dark movement. This was happened because many artists that first entered the scene just to destroy some dancefloors, now they have master their skills and produce some mind stretching stuff. KinDzaDza, Furious are perfect examples or Nabi releases. Sure they are a bunch of artists releasing basically the same track under different names, but IMO this happens in every subgenre. Just my 2 cents. -

I never dowload or listen to samples, but I think it's easy to know which albums you're gonna like before you buy them. -
After 10 years... I finally know what is the best goa track ever! :)
Ormion replied to Anoebis's topic in General Psytrance
I finally listen to this track. It's great, but IMO not even close to me to call it one of the best Goa tracks ever. It has a very simple structure and the melodies although very uplifting are not something we haven't heard before. 9/10 from me. edit: BTW If anyone is interested in a track with uplifting euphoric and nostalgic melodies, go listen to The Muses Rapt-The Fool. It's even better! -
I agree, expand the period! Also 3 questions: Albums/Compilations that are available only by downloading like Mindsphere-Inner Cyclone or Golden Vibes 2 count? Re-releases of old albums don't count, right? Albums with old tracks like Transwave-Backfire do count, don't they?

Someone can help me with this? I'm looking for some VST's that can imitate this beautiful liquid bass of the old Goa days. You know MFG style bass, it's beautiful! Green Nuns had also superb bass, especially in their track Two Vindaloos & An Onion Baggees, but I guess this was made with 303, right? Know any?

+1 In 2007 just like 2006 I bought only releases I already knew I will be interested. So I don't have any upper-crappy album to discuss. I can write about albums that dissapointed me (Hydraglyph, Trashlords), but they're definitely not horrible. -

N.D.M.A.-Vitan Where in hell can I found this track? -
Lucky guy! Do you know if the Kinetix releases are still available to purchase? Alien Mutation tracks kick so much ass!!! R.I.P.

Why this label never gained the recognition it deserved? According to Discogs most of the releases (especially the ambient ones) have some great ratings. Ok, it hadn't released many cds, but other labels with less releases are much more popular. (21:3 anyone?) Anyone has a Kinetix album or compilation? I want like crazy to listen to their ambient stuff. Especially this and this. Alien Mutation and Ishq!!!

Never heard that. The new Mahadeva is remixed by AP themselves or other artist?

I'm surprised this compilation doesn't get more attention. This is not just the best compilation of 2007, but one of the best in years. There are many oustanding tracks in both cds. First is the Muses Rapt-The Fool. OMG!!! Amazing melodies with his classic emotional touch. Especially, the second part is one of the best ever listened in Goa history. I guess it's an old track , but it hasn't been released before, right? Filteria's Navigate remix is awesome as well. I like the original more, but this one has so many melodies that exploded my mind. I know that many ppl won't like this over the top melodic style with all these fast melodies, but I absolutely love it! And yes the climaxes are awesome as always. SynSUN's Gagarinz Trip is the closest I can think to Astral Projection. No, it's not just a great track, it's one of the best Goa track ever written! Paradise Mutants made me imagine the old Koxbox days with their cyber-Goa sound. Wonderboy's tracks are acidic bliss and the Afgin's one simply beautiful! WOW for Ediya and Subra too! Apis's track really sounds like you have been teleported back in 1995. Last but not least Goasia! Wonderful track! The rest of the tracks are great too. Not bad tracks here, not mediocre tunes. Overall, this is THE Goa compilation and if there's ever a volume 3 it MUST be released on cd! It's the only way to get the recognition it deserves. And Old Is Gold crew must not worry, Goa lovers will support their work. 10/10

I think that 2007 ended as a good year for Psy. Better than 2005 and 2006, worse than 2004. Psy is still alive!

IMO AP never released a cheesy album. Amen was clubby, not cheesy. As for Another World I believe that was actually the less cheesy AP album. It had a lot of tracks that were darker than the usual AP style and was very spacey. About the new album... Well, I believe that it's pretty obvious what to expect. I guess it will be in the same style with Amen. A combination of Goa, a touch of full on and melodic prog and clubby atmosphere. As long it has great melodies then I'm ok with that.

Enough bitching. Time to say why we do love about Psytrance
Ormion replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
Well, I guess it was so obvious to mention it but yes... What I like in Psytrance the most? It's the best music ever. Simple as that. -
-The fact that you can actually communicate with the artists. You can email them and answer back. You can chat with them in a forum. You can speak with them in a party. You can be friends with them. Imagine all the pop and rock fans. They never, never speak with the artists they like. For them artists are idols and they closer they can get is in a concert. Which reminds me the second reason... -Parties. There is a special energy in psy parties, even today with this less good music. -The diversity. Personally I can't think any other music genre with such variety of styles, emotions and colors. From Datakult to Vibrasphere, Shift to Etnica, Cosmo to Antix, Shpongle to Skazi, Astrix to Midi Miliz, Squaremeat to Shaolin Wooden Men, Astral Projection to Xenomorph, Aes Dana to Astralasia. You name it is here. Darkness, light, optimism, pessisism, happiness, melancholy, minimalism, maximalism, mind expanding, brain destructive. Psytrance has expanded in such a way you can only be happy about it. Which means... -That Psy listeners are really open minded persons musically. And also... -They are really open minded overall. You may disagree with that, but judging from Psynews they are. We may have fun with funny and ridiculous topics, but when in come in a serious talk everyone has a serious opinion to write. Go to a pop forum and try that. Believe me I know! -That hundreds maybe thousands unsigned artists are producing Goa and all they want is a god damn label except Suntrip to release their music! -That when you think that Psytrance can't dissapoint you any more, something happens and makes you optimistic again. -That if it wasn't for Psytrance, Psynews wouldn't exist. Seriously, this is the best site ever! Your turn edit: sorry for the mistake in the title
