VISUAL REV 8 PHANTASM SUMMER TIME!!! INTO THE TUNNEL MARBLE PLANETS MIND BANG TARANTULA'S SPLACHNA SHAPER OF THE WORLDS IS IT... AQUARIUM FLIRT
-
Heh... Isn't this a 2005 release? Anyway it's a very good cd for the dark genre. What I like the most is that most of the tracks are not in the cliche dark way, but they use more melodies than the rest and they are pure dark stuff. The Baphomet Engine track is one of the best crazy dark tracks ever listened!!! It's a trip into the guts of a computer!

He he I have the same problem. I can understand only 'I want to show you my faith..'' or something
-
Does anybody know the exact quotes from the samples in this track?

Unstable Elements – Technical Illusions Kagdila Records 2006 TRACKLIST: 1.44100Hz 2.Behind The Sun 3.Artificial Sense 4.Elemental 5.Spring Feelings 6.Otium Post Negotium 7.What Do You Want To Forget? 8.Martian Atmosphere 9.Mind Weaver 10.Field Of Innocence 11.Chillout Vibes Style: Ambient Unstable Elements are Kornev Maxim and Epifanov Andrew, two guys from Russia and this is their debut album. My first (and only until this album) experience with Unstable Elements was in the A Magical Journey 2 comp. and their track Technical Illusions. This track was simply unbelievable and made me buy their same titled album. Here it is: 1. 44100Hz is a perfect track to discover Unstable Element’s music. Very emotional pads and crystal melodies floating around together with nice downtempo kicks. Some of you, you’d call it typical, I call it amazing. It’s nice peaceful ambient very emotional and pure electronic. Great track! 2. Behind The Sun has a much more happy feeling than 44100Hz at least in the first half. Nice simple melodies make you smile together with a really nice breakbeat percussion. In the middle of the track it slows down a bit before the melodies start again. Perfect track for mornings. 3. With Artificial Sense now, we get a more melancholic feeling. The pads and the melodic lines were created to make you sad (in a good way of course). Again the kick is very well done. It’s breakbeat but ‘flows’ vey smoothly and doesn’t bother you. There’s an old school Goa feeling in this track. Beautiful! 4. Elemental just like Behind The Sun has a more shiny ‘image’ and it will certainly make you happy. Still it has this nostalgic feeling like all of the tracks here, especially in the second half where the pads are stronger. Nice one. 5. Spring Feelings is slightly different than the rest of the tracks. First of all this is surely a track for the spring season. Everytime I listen to it I get images of fields filled with flowers. The differences in this track are the flute (very well played) and some very happy playful melodies which have a different color than the rest of the album. Spring track for sure. 6. Otium Post Negotium is what Psymbient is all about IMO. Nice emotional pads, a liquid bass and of course nice melodies. It’s a winner track that almost everybody will love and again a track that reminds me the old days. Cool! 7. What Do You Want To Forget? is maybe the most melancholic track in the album. It’s a track made for the cloudy autumn mornings. The emotions here are so strong that almost made me cry the first time I listened to it. A fantastic journey, a great ambient track for all the melancholic ambient lovers. 8. Martian Atmosphere is again a visual track. Everytime I listen to it I’m thinking of the space. It’s a track very slow and peaceful but also very ‘cold’ just like space. Again a track that took my mind some years ago, back in the Goa period. Fantastic! 9. The melancholy keeps going. Mind Weaver just like the the three previous tracks is very melancholic and very, very deep. The downtempo percussion is perfect here. It’s not complicated or annoying, but very slow and matches perfectly with the crystal melodies. Great track again! 10. And time for my favorite track of this album. Field Of Innocence is the only track here that has no percussion at all. It’s beatless, atmospheric ambient all the way. It sounds very minimalistic, but this is what I love the most. It’s a track made for mind traveling when you have your eyes closed. Very emotional again and melancholic (at least for me). Simply amazing!!! 11. Chillout Vibes is again a track that will you send many years back to the past with this Goambient style floating melody. It’s a very short track, more like an outro, but it works great! Overall, it’s a great album. It’s the kind of ambient I like. It sounds a bit simple, but IMO that’s the reason it’s so good. The Unstable guys didn’t care to release an ambient album that sounds more sophisticated or complicated. This is nice, melancholic, emotional, simple ambient just how good ambient must be! Plus, it has many old school elements. No, it’s not perfect and yes none of the track is as unbelievably amazing as the Technical Illusions track in the Magical Journey compilation, but trust me this is beautiful music!!! Fav: 1(!), 3, 4, 7(!), 8, 9, 10(!!!)

Styles I like GOA Any type of it DARK Mad, hard, forest, aggressive, sick, not much of a fan of Techno though (Midi Miliz etc.) FULL ON Only the aggressive ones (South Africa, 3D Vision style) and the good melodic ones (Fractal Glider, Rastaliens, The Misted Muppet etc.) EXPERIMENTAL Suomi, Australian etc, as long they don't use any psy rock elements, yikes! PROGRESSIVE Only the melodic not housey, not techno styles tracks or some melancholic ones or harder tracks (like XV-Kilist-Strom). TECHNO Only the aggressive ones (South African techno for example) AMBIENT Almost anything, not a fan of the Shpongle style though.

Me neither! Maybe radi6464 knows better

Of course I agree. What I really want to say is that music knowledge/skills doesn't mean exclusively melodies. Don't get me wrong I love melodies! I must be the biggest melody lover in the world but I believe that someone may have music knowledge without writing melodies. Maybe many of these artists CAN write great melodies but they just don't feel the need to it. For example: many of the ''crazy'' artists produce ambient music also. In their ambient tracks they use melodies and a more old school trance style. Check out Psyfactor's dance tracks and his ambient tracks. The ambient ones have melodies and are closer to Goa (ambient Goa) than ''dark madness''. Why is he doing that? Well maybe because he doesn't WANT to right melodic style DANCE tracks. But that doesn't mean he hasn't the knowledge to do that. It's like painters. Picasso could paint very realistic, natural drwaings. Instead of that he decided to draw these crazy, almost kiddy looking drawings. He did it because he wanted that, not because it was the only style he could paint. So. maybe KinDzaDza for example produces this kind of Psy because he wants that and not because he can't write something else.

I understand what you mean, but about MFG or Transwave I'd say you'll never know. It's like movies. A director who's good in making dramas doesn't mean that he can direct a good horror movie too. (the examples are infinite). Maybe MFG or Transwave or AP could produce a good crazy track but maybe this track was worse than a Psykovsky one, but from the other hand Psykovsky couldn't make a good melodic track. I never said that crazy dark psy is more difficult to produce than Goa. After all KinDzaDza and the rest never cared about melodies, which are a very difficult element. But... They're amazing Goa tracks, but also bad Goa tracks. It's the same, they're amazing crazy tracks and bad crazy tracks. I just want to say that producing a GOOD crazy track is very difficult, needs A LOT of work and it's not a one hour work. For example: Have you ever think how many hours Derango spend to create the effects only for one of the tracks? Personally, I don't want to think about it. I don't want to make you change your taste. If you don't like ''crazy'' Psy then it's ok. I don't like minimal for example and even the whole world said that minimal rocks I wouldn't care. I just try to say that some othr ppl (including me) find Derango's music awesome for our reasons and also, this kind of music needs also a lot of work and skills. Peace

Writing a track with you called ''randomized noises'' is extremelly difficult and needs a hell of imagination! I can make a ''randomized noises'' track too. I'd just make a bassline, create 100-150 different effects and add them in my track in random order. Do you think this track will be good or has anything to do with the artists you just mentioned? I find very easy to understand who has musical skills and who doesn't even in these ''randomized noises'' tracks. I totally respect your opinion, but I understood how difficult is too produce a good crazy track when I tried to write one myself.

Yeah I think you're right! memories...

Minimal I get into PsyTrance because it was much more maximal than the rest of the dance genres, so minimal says nothing to me. Of course I'm talking about dance not ambient.

That sample is just funny! The track is awesome very serious, no cheesy and very aggressive. The sample lasts for 3 seconds just before the power hits you again. It's a funny moment! The same with Tryambaka-Odissey (Hanson sample) & Fungus Funk-Yumi (japanese pop I think). They just funny moments and I love them! It's completelly different from using full vocal singing! This is completelly different though. The Tockz Eek track is a 100% psy trance remic of pop song. Mutant Rebellion has nothing to do with the Backstreet Boys track except this 3 seconds sample.

Do you think Goa is dead? If yes, is it something that make you sad? If yes, don't you think that all the old artists including you are responsible?
-
I tried to find Fear cd for months but without any luck. The samples I've heard are unbelievable!!! I hope one day to finally buy it. True, but if you read his bio you'll see that DarkPsy is a nick he uses many years ago. I guess he kept it for emotional reasons.

Does anyone remember the title of the original song that Manifold's track is based on?
