  2. I just bought it. Actually that was a surprise for me since I didn't know that there was a new SynSUN around. After the AMAZING Symphonic Adventures I had high hopes for this one. Ok, bad news: They changed their style to Full On. Good news: It's great innovative full on, with great melodies and nice production. All tracks are great especially Prelude which is amazing and also Tron & Enter Sandman. Even the ''psy-metal'Magic Fly is great.
  3. MIDNIGHT STORM II – ELECTRIC ENERGY Nexus Media 2006 TRACKSLIST: 1.HYDRAGLYPH-Breach 2.SLUG & RABDOM L-Iron Curtain 3.MANIFOLD-Voinamirov 4.MULTISTATE-Grandma Death 5.SHIFT & AZAX SYNDROM-How Do U Stop It? 6.ABOMINATION-The Hunt 7.AZAX SYNDROM-The Covenant (Shift rmx) 8.ENERGETIC-Overdose 9.BRETHREN-Moshi Moshi Mastered by Artifakt Artwork by Scarah Style: Hard Full On This is the new release of Nexus Media, South African label with great reputation in Hard-aggressive SA full on. The first Midnight Storm was an excellent compilation and one of the highlights of 2005 (and one of the best comps of the last years IMO). Now the Nexus guys decide to release the second part of it and let’s hope it will follow the third volume. Just like in the new Timecode the first track is a Hydraglyph one. Hydraglyph like to play with the SA psy standards and put many styles in their tracks. Hence, you’ll listen many dark pads together with mellow melodies and combined with hard basslines and weird samples. Just like almost every track by them Breach has a dark feeling but it’s suitable for morning times too. What to expect? Phat percussion and SA techno sounds, many breaks and lot of pads and of course the final melody in the last two minutes. I’ve heard better tracks from these guys (System Critical, Corrupt Audio etc.) and more experimental, but this is definitely a very good one. Next track is the collaboration of two of the most known SA artists. Slug (with a fresh Pitch Hikers album) and Rabdom L (with the new Twisted System) worked together for the first time and the result is awesome. Iron Curtain is what SA psy is all about. It’s dark, but not in a scary or evil way, it’s powerful, fast, aggressive, slightly melodic and phat! Actually, this must be the most phat track ever! Everything in Iron Curtain is loud. From the kick and the hi-hats to the bass and the synth lines. You can clearly hear both of the artists styles: The phat snares and the aggressive bass of Rabdom L and the mellow melodic lines of Slug. The highlight is the last three minutes where the track explodes in a mayhem of sounds, melodies and kick breaks. Amazing! The Manifold track now, is a great example of mixing hard noisy full on with emotion. They’ve done it before (Source comp.), they did it again. Ok, the first three minutes is full power with nice fx production, the next minute is an effective break and suddenly an atmospheric melody hits the floor. The melody is awesome and it will make you fly, but lasts only 20 seconds. Fortunately the rest of the track has some wondeful pads and nice, smooth bass. It never explodes but it’s gonna make you smile while dancing like a maniac. Quality stuff. Multistate is the new group of G.Hamber (Xatrik) and G.Olivier. SA full on style with nice bassline and many dark samples. That’s only for the start, cause around minute 3 we get some groovy almost happy melodies. The whole feeling reminds me some Rinkadink stuff : tracks that have both dark atmosphere and a happy feeling. Not extra insane as the Xatrik stuff, but definitely powerful. Nice work guys! Shift & Azax Syndrom….he, he. Well this is a collaboration I always wanted to see and yes it’s true. Okay, things are getting serious here. It’s difficult to describe this track, since there are so many things to describe. I could say that the track is a pure mayhem of psychedelic sounds, fast basslines, melodies that make you move, climaxes and a last minute where everything gets on fire. Build up over build up until it’ll be explode and then more power. Really, how do you stop it? Let the hunt begins and more power keeps coming. Hard, fast Psy just like someone really hunts you and you’re running to stay alive. Pure dancefloor killer, with extremelly good bassline and phat synths. Maybe, I miss a more steady melody like in other Abomination tracks, but it’s again a great track for powerPsy lovers. The Covenant was one of the highlights of the first Midnight Storm and this one didn’t let me down. Shift is a great remixer, he knows what to change and what to keep the same. Just like here: The similarities? The super fast bass sounds almost the same, the original melodies are here again and the power too. The differences? Some additional melodies, more samples and even more power! Until the fifth minute everything works great, but after that the track explodes in such a degree that is difficult to describe. For two minutes and twenty seconds the full power keeps coming and when you think it’s over it hits you more. Imagine that:The madness ends at 7’20’’ while the whole track lasts 7’24’’!!! Destruction… Energetic are two guys never heard before, so I really didn’t know what to expect. The style here sounds more Israeli, because of the bassline and some typical full on synths. Thank God, the track has all the power I wanted to listen and soon the bass changes and the full power is unleashed. Kinda Chromatone style this is powerful full on in a way different from the South Africa style. Maybe the bass is too slow in the last minutes for such a track but it’s surely kick ass stuff. Brethren are Phyx & Tickets, brothers and Psy maestros. This is the first track they’re release after the brilliant Legend Of Cane album. Moshi and boom! the bassline hits your ears together with all these industrial Phyx-style sounds. Then a nice, simple, but effective melody and a nice snare make you move, and the pure Trance feeling they gave us in their album returns with a morning melodic line. Obviously the last minutes are the most powerful, although it never exploded. Different style from the I.E.F. we’ve heard in MS 1, but similar with the more melodic album stuff. Great stuff again! Overall, it’s an amazing compilation from Nexus Media since they tried to keep the quality level as high as they could… and they made it. Although I prefer the first Storm more this is a perfect release for this kind of Psy. If you’re looking for real full on and powerful Psy Electric Energy is made for you. + : -Power -No bad tracks. No average tracks -The Azax-Shift collaborations! - : -None. For its kind it’s perfect 10/10 Fav:All (Highlights:2,5,7,8,9)

  5. We already had this thread about dance tracks many times, but never about Ambient exclusively. Let's talk about Psy ambient that need more attention. Make your list! Khetzal-Avasari: I don't believe that everybody mentioned this track as very good or great. No, it's not great....It's one of the best ambient tracks ever!!!!! Melancholic, nostalgic, trippy, beautiful.....simply amazing. THE classic. Oforia-Voice Of Delusion: Another track that no one mentioned as ultra classic. The beautiful melancholy of this track is so great. I almost cry everytime I listened to it. All time best IMO. Astralasia-Madam: Amazing track from the masters that gets less attention compared to others (Aloo,Unveria Mekanik etc.). Simply amazing old-school ambient. OOOD-Hartley's Ambient Jam: Another track that has a place in my all top-10 but seems that no one shares that opinion. Trippy, floating ambient especially the second half is superb. Optic Eye-Anacoluthon: Yeah, yeah I know. I've mentioned this track hundreds of times before, but I'll never stop until I convince you that it's the most trippy ambient ever. Astral Projection-Ambience: The ultimate ambient track by the Gods which never got the attention it deserves. It seems that everyone loves Electronic or Ambient Galaxy (which are great) but this is in my all time top-3! The leading melody is...(no words found). Doof-Sunshrine: I know. It's not ambient, not even downtempo, but I always consider it as an ambient track. Maybe the best and more emotional intro ever made... ISHQ-Orchid:The whole album. Few guys talked about it. Too pity for onr of the best ambient albums ever. Okay they're more so I'll return. Your turn.
  6. That's true, he's great. I only know that he made many tracks together with Mass. Maybe if you look in the websites of the labels that released his tracks (Phantasm,Sphere) you'll find something.
  7. Sorry but I totally disagree with you guys. I love this album. It's the kind of ambient I want. Melancholic, beautiful, trippy and spacey. Ok, maybe some sounds are repeating in some tracks but it's surely an amazing album. The first track is great ambient, Synergy is kick-ass Psy downtempo and the last track is incredibly beautiful. The rest of the tracks are great too. 9/10

    v/a - Mechanophobia

Just bought it and listened to it once. Nice hard, dark Psy. Damn, Procs track is amazing!!! Definately better than the album tracks. AWESOME!!! Polyphonia and Metallaxis did it again (Conclusion is the first track of this style with Greek samples). More comments are coming soon.
  9. Just bought it and listened to it once. I agree with FrozenRealm, it's a good compilation if you like SA style (although many tracks are not SA style) but not something extraordinary like The Turning or New Blood comps. Like Sonic Solutions is a very good release but I miss the SUPER track (ok, Twisted System is awesome but it has been already released). Fav tracks for this one listening are Twisted, the Artifakt (great stuff again), Seroxat (great surprise), Phyx, Multistate, Hydraglyph and Species. And yes FR the Midnight Storm 2 is gonna be awesome!!! (Azax Syndrom-Covenant (Shift rmx)
  10. I wanna feed my brain with some sick Psy-Trance. And I mean sick!!! Recommend me some. Tracks like Psykovsky-Wooden Child or Quasar-Oliphant.
  11. Ok, after many hours of listening I can say that this is a hell of a compilation. All tracks are awesome. Agressive and sick stuff. Love it! Final rating: 9.5/10
  12. I can recommend you many Dark artists in the Russian or Sweden style (Parvati,Trishula,Inpsyde Media recs etc.) but I guess it's not the style you're looking for. Check out the Orebro FreakFactory series (1,2,3) from Stone Age records for intelligent and really dark music.

  14. Nice comp although some tracks are just good. Great moments are tracks 3 & 8. 8/10

ACIDSPORT (Vertigo 2006) TRACKLIST: 1. STEREOGRAPHIC-Planetary Point 2. oCeLoT-Jungle Disco 23 (remix) 3. PENTA-Looking Great 4. SILENT HORROR-Atheist 5. SYNTAX ERROR-Bitmap Bugs 6. FURIOUS-Paper Seed 7. TERMINATOR-Scary Boubles (Dark rmx) 8. DEJAN-Kikabassa 9. ENCEPHALOPATICYS-Process 10. ANALOG EXPERIENCE-G-Force (DarkPsy rmx) Style: Dark Mastered by KinDzaDza Artwork by Fabio Borges This is the seventh release of the Russia based label. First track by Stereographic, a new Brazilian artist. It starts like a dark track with a fast bassline and some simple fx. After the first minute some hi-hats hit the floor and it starts to build. But when you think that it’s just another one typical dark psy stuff a great melodic line makes your day better. Nice acid melody reminds me a bit the old good days, great surprise for this kind of track. For the rest of the track we get more simple fx and around minute 4’ a second great melody- more fairytale style. The last two minutes though are fx over fx again. Overall it’s an amazing track with surprising melodies, but with two problems. Unfortunately the melodic lines last only for a couple of seconds and the rest of the track is too typical (no climaxes, no ultra crazy madness). But it’s a damn good track! I can’t wait to hear more stuff from this guy. USA producer oCeLoT is the second artist. If you know what oCeLoT style is all about then you will not get any big surprise here. All the weirdo effects are here, the nice bass too and this time some happy style melodies. Don’t worry it’s not cheesy or whatever, not at all. It’s still crazy Psy in the Dark psy way, although it’s not dark at all (like all oCeLoT tracks IMO). Too bad the track is too typical oCeLoT. It’s like Aaron has found a formula for his tracks and he uses it again and again. If you’re listening to his stuff for the first time you’re gonna love it, but if you’ve heard many of his track you won’t find something new here. Cool track, but not something unique. Penta. Hmm… I really like his tracks but…somehow I always think that something is missing from them. I don’t know what actually. This track is again a nice, crazy tune but again I think that something is missing. Nice bassline, fx all the way, no melodies, no climaxes, not much darkness again. Thank God there’s a great minute here from 5’-6’ with some really nice effects, some weirdo samples and a nice melody, but the rest of the track is kinda weak. I believe that just like the oCeLoT’s track this one is too typical Penta. Nice one but nothing more. Is it me or India artists love dark psy style? Silent Horror is Indian and this is a track with a great title: ‘’Atheist’’, yeah! Ok, here we have a really heavy kick and a really furious bassline together with some dark pads. The first half ain’t something great. All that together with some typical fx. The second half is pretty much the same but with an extra simple spooky melody. Unfortunately the track never explodes and sounds incomplete. Nice track for Hard Psy lovers but nothing new. New name again, Syntax Error. Take a bass, throw some fx, play with the filters a bit and voila! You have a track. So, it’s bad? No, not at all, but damn it, it’s again a typical Dark psy track nothing more. After the Derango,oCeLoT,Psykovsky etc. albums I’m waiting for something better. It would be a good track back in 2001 but nowadays we have listened to hundreds of tracks like that. Average. Furious. Here is group that produce really interesting tracks. Weird, full of surprises and… furious. Paper Seed is one of them. Great work in fx, nice percussion, strange sounds that combined all together they create simple melodies and nice samples. But again there’s a problem. The kick is too light for this kind of Psy. Especially in the madness moments you almost can’t hear it. When I first listened to it I thought that there is no kick! Of course it’s just my opinion. Anyway, this one is good! Terminator is Zolod, an artist who passed away recently. This track is strange… It has all the dark psy elements: fast basslines, madness, strange sounds panning left and right, but somehow it doesn’t sound like a dark track. Maybe the original was a morning tune before it gets this Dark remix. Anyway, this track gives me an image of a rainy forest. It’s not a forest Psy Sweden style track…more like a tropical feeling. Goa maybe. In this track you will listen some background melodies, some melancholic pads and Pasesense style fx. I guess it’s a combination of Dark Psy with Full On and Progressive. It’s a track great for any Psy listener but again not a great one. It lasts 11 minutes and for a track so long we need more variation. It would be good for a 6’ minutes track but for this length it ends boring. Good track with no variation. Dejan is a French artist also known for The Many Faces project together with Jellyheadz. To be honest I never was a big fan of his style. I always found it a bit boring, but some of his tracks were good. The ‘’Dennis Kills The Dentist’’ from the last Trishula comp. was really good with many fuuny sounds and enough power, but this one is boooring. Same kick, same bass all the way for 7’40’’ minutes. Boring fx, no build ups, no madness, nothing. Now I realise why he named this track Kikabassa, it’s just the kick and the bass. I guess Dejan was really sleepy when he wrote this track… B-o-r-i-n-g! Encephalopaticys means brain disease but you won’t get any from this track. Again a track that trying to sounds crazy or dark but it lacks of ideas and true power or madness. Thank God there’s a nice melody line in the last minute but you have to wait nine whole minutes to get it. It’s not bad but just like Terminator for a 10’ minutes track is boring. Average. DarkPsy save me! I don’t know what you think for this guy, but I love his tracks. Analog Experience is J.Molinari from Portugal aka DarkPsy in a track remixed by himself. It seems that this guy has no imagination at all when he must choose his project & tracks names, but he makes his brain works when it comes to music writing. Dark furious bassline and a nice kick for the start. Scary pads and suddenly some kick ass melodies not dark at all! Then again more dark fx madness and again some almost morning melodies! What the hell is happening?! Maybe the original was a melodic tune and the remix made it darker. This one is awesome! The perfect combination of Dark crazy Psy with melodic Hard Full On. Yep, he made it again! Overall it’s an average combilation with many boring and cliché tracks. If you looking for some really intelligent dark cd check out the previous Vertigo release the amazing Psykovsky album or search elsewhere for some other dark compilation. The tracklist looks great but the music is average. + : -The surprise tracks 1 & 10 -Great mastering -Strange artwork(?) - : -Cliché tracks -The big names dissapointed me 6/10 Fav: 1,6,10(!) BTW why acisport and no acidas?
  16. I just listened the samples of living in a continuous deja-vu. Psinject OMG!!!
  17. Agree 100% Intelligent Dark Psy at its best! All tracks are awesome but tracks 3,4,5,6,7 & 8 are perfect. Hard,dark,nightmar-ish great! 10/10
  18. Great stuff! Maybe there's not much variation in the sounds but it's great music for sure. Favorite track must be Puissant, hard Psy yeah! 8.5-9/10
  19. I've listened two tracks by this guy: Los Colombaires Unicejas and Tia Puta. They're both excellent! Los Colombaires Unicejas is a perfect example of new school Goa IMO and Tia Puta a perfect future fx psy techno killer. I realy want to give a try by buying an album but I'm curious. What style are they? Especially the second one. Did he change his style?
  20. Some more: Funkopath, Anamist, Alien Hand Syndrome (Christian from Ka-Sol), Eco, Guidance, Arcana, Electron Wave.
  21. Silicon Trip is one of the best album of all time (I voted that) Enlightnened Ape is very good, still melodic but kinda darker. Great stuff but nothing to do with Silicon Trip. Out Of Sight is awful! Some tracks remind me shitty House music. Feed The Flame (cd1) is a joke. Pure crap!
  22. Have you listened their track ''Reefer Madness''? It doesn't sound that homemade IMO. C'mon write one yourself!
