This topic is about artists, groups and projects that are less famous even unknown to most psy ppl, but somehow you like them. I guess it's a good idea to make a list of all them, cause after all Psy trance is not only Simon and Etnica, right? I'll start with my fav less famous artists: THE SHINING PATH Real name Greg Oulds. I have two tracks by him, Exit The Vipers Pit ans Abraxis, both excellent!!! Trippy, hypnotic Goa, with a strange eastern feeling but not cheesy at all and very acid! Find them and listen to them! OPTICA & OPTIC EYE Both projects of Jake Stephenson (RIP) a guy also known as the most ''several projects'' producer check it out Anyway his project Optic Eye (with Brian Trower) starts back in 1992(!) with great, great trance and ambient tracks. His other project Optica (again with Trower) is a dance project combination of weird acid Goa with some breakbeat. Nice! MULTIPLEX Group that released some tracks under the Psychic Deli label. Hard Goa, with interesting melodies and really powerful. Not outstanding but very good. Their track Audio Engine is stunning! BLACK HOLE Dance project of Swordfish (the man behind Astralasia). Great Goa with spacey atmospheres and a darker touch. I've heard once his album ''Time Stops Here'' in a friend's house and I was amazed. His track ''A Touch Of The Carpenters'' is an instant classic! SOLAR PLEXUS Nice Old-School Psy with a trance touch. All the tracks I have from this guy are very nice. Another artist that Hypnotic label ''destroy'' with its bad policy. (Psygone,Bypass Unit, Out Of Phase etc. amongst others) THE SECRET Maybe the first electronic music project of Dave Young (correct me if I'm wrong). Optimistic trance with Goa elements. Their track ''Pagan Dance'' is classic IMO. LUNAR ASYLUM Awesome psychedelic trance. Crazy Goa with awesome melodies. I'm surprise that such a few ppl have mentioned this group. ECT & Mass Another two artists less famous. Psychotic, completelly crazy Psy trance (at least the two tracks I own). Damn weird! DIABLO Aka Avihen Livne (RIP). Famous as Cosma, less famous with his project. Very good Psy, different from most acts I've heard. His track ''Hop She Goes'' is amazing and damn scary! PRODIGAL SUN Another great group. Most known than the rest but still less famous. Acidic full on, different from any Full On act I've heard. Great! LOS Greek group of Greg Staikos No.1 Psy Greek DJ. Dark Psy with old school and full on elements. They released the album ''Predator'' back in 2000 in Eros and believe me if it had been released in a more known Psy label, we will all talk about it! Their ambient track ''Slime Into The Sound'' is still in my all time top 5. IN TRANCE Project of Guy Sebbag & Gal Carmy. I guess it's well known here but believe me almost unknown to most ppl. Nice old school Israeli trance. And some other artists (LOA, Psycho Meditation, Domi Pastor, P.Cok,Todra, Clockwork, Vaporum, NAT and more). Ok they're many more and I'll return with another post when I remember more. Remember these artists/groups may be known to some of you (after all this is Psynews not Isratrance), but they are almost unknown to the masses, (and I don't mean the new kilargh masses). Right down yours!

Very good piece of work. Really psychedelic and weird music. Maybe some tracks are too typical Electrypnose style, but this is great stuff! Favorite tracks are Gidi Fake, Niapo, B2P2 and Oz. Also this album must have the best sound production ever! 8.5/10 and great cover too

Admit it, there is nothing worst than LOUD! I mean what's next MUSIC or ARTIST?

Commercial shit! I've seen this movement pic hundreds of time before in dozens of house releases.
-
Astralasia my friend.

Light Psychedelic Goa= Cosmosis IMO. (Not his new stuff of course) Also MFG New Kind Of World. Light Of Shidapu? Have you tried nithzonot artists like Cyan? I don't like them at all (too cheesy for me) but they sound like this album a bit.
-
Agree 1000%!!!
-
Sensient ain't bad. What I mean about minimal is that it can't changed dramatically because..... it's minimal. There are few things to change in a minimal style track. Know what I mean, right?
-
What's CC? Chemical Crew? They suck IMO! About SA now. I really believe that they have changed a lot. Back in 2003 when they started releasing stuff they were more techno stuff with no melodies. Just a fats bass, phat percussion and some fx. Now days they're melodic, many ideas, climaxes etc. If you don't believe me listen to the Shift-Excession album. Innovative full on IMO. About CPU you're right, He was a God back in 2003 but he's second album was dissapointing. Absolum though still has he's 'Inside The Sphere' aggressive style. Inside The Sphere BTW is a perfect example that how a more full on album can be better that the early techno-oriented stuff-> Wild. Kinda boring IMO.
-
LOL about SA. Don't tell me you're one of them who believes that Shift-Insane is better than Toxic Shake for example. It's minimal how can it changed? It's the same for years and it will still be. Same thing again and again and again.

Although what is dark is something subjective (like everything is this world) I believe that a dark pad, a dark bass and some metallic sounds don't make a dark track. This is why X-Dream were never dark for me. Delta are dark, but most of the tech-trance artists are 'let's make dark' music and not pure dark. If you know what I mean.... Anyway different ppl-different tastes. About your list. The second category is not KILLARGH. Labels like these:Deja Vu, Devils Mind, Mistress of Evil are not killargh music. You forgot two full-on categories IMO: The real kilargh full on: Suppose to be hard but it's not and they use many guitars. Artists: Skazi, Skazi and Skazi. (Ok they're more. Paranormal Attack for example) Blasting Full On aka THE REAL Full On: Different fromany kind you mentioned. Hard, aggressive, blasting, this is what Full On means after all. ALso still melodic but not cheesy. Artists: Shift, Twisted System, Phyx, CPU (firts album), Absolum, Killer Buds, Phatmatix, Azax Syndrom (2002-2004 tracks) etc.

After listening to Heliopolis dozens of times I can write my final rating. Well, although I still prefer Sky Input much much more I believe that Heliopolis is a 10/10 album. Maximal Goa! Fav tracks:1,2(!),4,6,7(!!!!!)

Back in 2004 I had bought some cds form a cd shop in my town. The guys there always give you a list with upcoming releases. Few days ago I was reading that list again and I saw that a Phyx album was supposed to be released!!! The name of the album was Kissing The Blade and it would be released by Timecode records! Being THE SA psy and Phyx fan I wonder what's happened to that album? Was it false info or the album cancelled? Do you have any info about it?
-
Ok, I bought it this morning and I listened to it once, so my review-comment is too early. First of all, I wanna say that I'm the biggest Filteria fan after the amazing Sky Input, so I was waiting for Heliopolis like a madman two years now. Finally I got it. It seems that Heliopolis has some good things and some not so good. The not so good (always compared to Sky Input) is that most of the tracks sound a bit similar. Especially in the first six tracks Jannis used similar sounds, although that every track has its character. Also, all the tracks are very-very melodic but the melodies are less good than the Sky Input ones. Not that are bad of course... They're great but I think that Sky Input had more ''classic'' melodies especially in the Navigate, The Snuggling Snail and the Galactic Rays tracks. I'll say that the first six tracks sound like the Ultimator! track. The good things are: the basslines are better IMO especially the ones in the Mind Expanding and Pyrogen track. The tracks are still psychedelic, ecstatic, spacey with many climaxes and super melodic. Also they're more acid (Unfiltered track!) and the Crop Circles remix is superb. It's nice that the classic leading melody of the track lasts more that the original and the fact that Jannis used the same bass. The last ambient track sounds great but I have to listened it more times to appreciate it more. Overall, sounds great but in the first listen I think is less good than Sky Input. More comments and final verdict later.

Chakra & Edi Mis- X-Files

Definitely it's getting bigger but I hope to stay as underground as it can.

For great melodic music try Goa=almost everything from 1995 to 1999. From more Infected Mushroom style check out Talpa, The Misted Muppet, Nystagmus.
-
All of them! Almost every new style has Goa elements, although non of them is really a new Goa style. Dark Psy has the madness of Goa. Full On the energy of Goa. Progressive the mellow feeling of many Goa tracks. Experimental the non cliche madness of the weirdo Goa artists. Minimal though has nothing to do with Goa. Goa was always maximal in a way or another.

TWILIGHT CHILDREN MMD Records 2006 Compiled by Zion Linguist Mastered by Artifakt Artwork by Stuart TRACKLIST: 1.Xatrik & Slug-Leopard Crawl 2.Frozen Ghost-Redevil 3.Zion Linguist-You’re The Monster 4.The Linguist vs The Cell-Prince Of Darkness 5.Frozen Ghost-Half Breed 6.Excell-Public Chaos 7.Zion Linguist-Sinistrer Funk 8.Hydraglyph-Corrupt Audio 9.Lost N Found vs Xatrik-Elastik Ice This is the first release by MMD records (short for Mind Manipulation Device) compiled by a new SA artist called Zion Linguist. First track is called Leopard Crawl and it’s made by two of the most famous SA producers Xatrik and Slug. Xatrik is known for his psychotic, dark and insane psychedelia while Slug for his more mellow melodic lines combined with phat snares and powerful basslines. They have released one more track together called Sic Science (Cipher comp.), but Leopard Crawl is really different. Instead of scratchy, more techno sound like Sic Science, Leopard Crawl is more trancey, but still has some techno elements. It starts a bit simple with a nice bass and many pads and after the first two minutes a screaming melody hits the floor. The next minutes are filled with weirdo fx, more pads and some groovy sounds and ends with the melodic line again. Overall it’s a really good track, not something extraordinary or groundbreaking, but a nice twilight tune. A sweet track! Next comes Frozen Ghost aka Barry Wyrne. I think he made his debut in the Wild Spirits-Strong Medicine compilation and you can find more tracks by him in the new Afrogalactic comp. Decadance. Frozen Ghost’s sound is much more techno than the well known Timecode style and it sounds more like Damage or Broken Toy. Of course his style is unique. Why? Well, he makes very groovy, happy tracks but super powerful at the same time! Redevil is the perfect example. The bassline is very powerful but funky at the same time. The percussion is amazing and the track builds for good. Many fx throwned to your face together with nice simple melodic lines. The last minutes are really intense with the well known build up over build up SA technique. Combine the screaming sounds together with many interesting effects and this super bass and you have a winner! One track that makes you smile but blasts the dancefloor with its power as well. Awesome tune! Next is Zion Linguist himself. A new but talented artist. Again more Damage style.Dark bass, many rusty sounds panning left and right and Jim Carrey’s ‘hello, hello’ sample. The tracks builds a bit simple for the first minutes but in the middle of it we get some fx madness just too keep us interested and for the rest of the track we have all that together for a nice ending. Nothing spectacular IMO and kinda simple but nice dark furious SA techno. The Linguist and The Cell is a collaboration between Zion Linguist and Excell. The track is even more dark than the ‘You’re The Monster’ with a very fast bass and some simple melodic lines 100% SA styla with many Damage style fx together with dark pads. After the minute 4:00 the track explodes and becomes really powerful. Fx madness and another simple line for the last minutes and we have a very good track, dark and powerful. Frozen Ghost again. The opening sample with some Formula sounds and a nice bassline together with a phat kick after that. Some groovy sounds again and rusty Damage style sounds. After the middle part we have some 16 notes simple lines and dark pads and we close with more techno power. Nice track, not that great as Redevil but still good. New name Excell (great artist name). I guess he’s SA too. Raw techno all the way, not melodies, but many distorted sounds for the first half. For the next half a screaming melodic line blasts the track while the fx paranoia keeps going. A track that make you dance like crazy! Zion Linguist again. More complicated track than ‘You’re The Monster’. Many simplistic lines and again some SA effects. Around minute 3:00 we get a screaming line just like in the Excell track and more dusty sounds. For the end Zion gives us a surprise with a very interesting complete melody, just to make the track even better. Very good! Track 8 by Hydraglyph, a SA group with many great tracks and some average ones and a fresh debut album. ‘Matter is evolving’ is the opening sample and when the bassline hits you, you know that this track is more SA hard full on than techno. Perfect production, great effects and cool melodies, so far the most melodic track here. Just before the end we get a nice climax and for the end a very, very nice melody over dark pads. A great track, one of the best I’ve heard from them. Last track by Lost N Found and Xatrik. Again more trancey style than techno with many Xatrik noisy effects and some more morning melodies. Not a dark track nor something extra melodic or crazy but a nice tune with a nice groovy feeling without being cheesy at all! Nice one! Overall, it’s a nice debut compilation from MMD records. Although I prefer the more melodic SA style more, I have to recommend it. Especially if you are a Damage fan, you can’t miss this one! 8/10 Fav:1,2(!),6,7,8 +plus nice cover

What music are you listening to right now?
Ormion replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Frozen Ghost-Redevil -
I saw a japanese movie once where two guys were walking in front of a cd shop and the music inside the store was Pleiadians-Alcyone! Don't know the movie's title though.
-
Which one is your favorite project by the Italian Psy maestros? It's an interest question IMO. I was always curious about Etnica or Pleiadians ppl love most? I didn't add any all option since (I guess) if you like one of the project you will love the rest too, so what's the point for an all option? Also... I didn't want to add Crop Circles to the poll cause I believed they hadn't written so many tracks but lately I realise they had! So vote! I voted Pleiadians. Every Pleiadians track is pure perfection (except the new ones which I haven't listened yet), I.F.O. is the best album ever and Family Of Light one of the best. As Etnica they have released many many superb tracks but they ruined the project with the Nitrox and Chrome crappy albums. As for the Crop Circles: I've only listened to two tracks both UNBELIEVABLE but I have to listen to more to see if they are better than the Pleiadians track. So, first vote to Pleiadians. Your turn!
