I think in the Psytrance section Hallucinogen, Koxbox and Sandman deserve a mention. The first two are pioneers of a less Goa sound and even after all these years we have arguments if Hallucinogen or Koxbox are Psytrance or Goa. Sandman was a pioneer of the genre and influenced many artists.

Please tell me that sample is a joke. This can't be true. Clubby progressive? Clubby progressive????? -
Hi-Tech is not supposed to be dark, but mind fucking. To be honest I'm suprised that many ppl here dislike Hi-Tech. Apart from the high bpm which can be polarizing the whole idea of weird sound effects is a major characteristic of Psytrance since day one. I also shake my head at the you must be on drugs to enjoy it. Isn't that what outsiders accuse Goa and Psy for? I mean we try to convince people that music is the drug and now a Psytrance subgenre is accused of being a drug music. Honestly this is a major flashback of 2001-2002 where hardcore goaheads believed that Full On was only popular because of e.

Looks pretty good. Nice job. How many subgenres are left?

I think Prog starts before Atmos or Human Blue. I don't know if you agree, but I think Planet B.E.N. was influential in the prog sound. Then there's Der Dritte Raum, Der Stern Von Afrika, some Quirk tracks, Children Of Paradise (although C.O.P. is more techno back then we used to call them prog), M.O.S, Fools And Tools etc. I think 1997 was the birth year of Prog, while 1999 the year the genre became "official".

Most underground psytrance you ever listened to?
Ormion replied to Manuser's topic in General Psytrance
I wouldn't call Akanoid underground sorry. For me underground is something unconventional and fucked up like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUDGUL_OR6M Most users are on their summer vacations. It's always pretty quite here on August. -
It makes sense then to like only a portion of them since their 2000-2015 tracks are mostly bad.
-
Do you mean only their old school output or all the tracks to this day?
-
There are 5 nominees: Vimana Electra Maia Family Of Light Lunar Civilization If I had to choose one and only one then I would go with Vimana.
-
That photo begs for photoshopping.
-
Just wanna say that their track Ghost Circles is one of the best Goa tracks ever made. Why was it unreleased all those years? Audio orgasm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8ZaAQUARL0 Of course nothing can beat Lunar Civilization.
-
They are truly the Gods of Goa. They were ahead of their time. I mean Electra is 18 years old and to this day none track Goa or not has much its complexity and power. FOL is also vastly underrated because IMO it was the next step in Goa trance. It's the first and only album that took Goa to level 2. Unfortunately no one followed...

LOL that's so corny.

My time machine works! I'm back in 2005!

Nice and trippy, a bit repetitive though. 6.5/10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K70bfRiDFns

You know I never understood the random argument. Would you consider this track random? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHUXxIxpA2c Because Darkpsy is basically the same with much more effects.
-
As someone who tried to write Darkpsy I can tell you that at least in my experience I found it way harder than produce a Goa track for example. (That's the main reason I never tried again).

Looks really good, although I'd like to know if other psynewers agree with the origins/influences. BTW you missed an 'e' at Parasense. edit: I just realized that Pitch Hikers-Twilight Zone released before Shift's Byte Me. So I guess you should edit the Twilight name section. Sorry for the confusion.

Songs that have remixes that are better than the originals
Ormion replied to astralprojection's topic in General Psytrance
Shakta-Lepton Head (Deedrah rmx) Total Eclipse-Free Lemonade (Psychaos rmx) Astral Projection-Flying Into A Star (Ast-roid rmx) Lemurians-Take Off To The Cosmos (Shift rmx) Azax Syndrom-The Covenant (Shift rmx) Etnica-Trip Tonite (The original 2000 rmx) And pretty much every MWNN remix. -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTC1khR5EVk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0pSrPOM7BA Although not on par with the original or the superior Y2K version both these remixes are pretty good.

Yeah, some ppl call it Psytech, or Psytek or Psy Techno or Tech Trance. It was the German sound by artists like Midi Miliz, Spirallianz, Authentik etc.
