Does anyone know what you can use to analyse you audio in cubase to check where you are sitting in the eq mix?

Hi All, I would like to get some feedback on some ideas for effective basslines, to use in psytrance. What are some techniques you guys are using to produce these melodic basslines? First thing that comes to mind is that most psy producers are probably using a matrix sequencer of some kind, then running 2 audio samples of the basslines, to make it more punchy, then applying compression. Any Ideas? Synths? Reason? Waves? Sashqa
