Sons of Aurora - Live at Upplysa Released: May 27, 2005 Genre: Psytrance - Progressive Length: 1:54:58 Listen / Download Here: http://www.area709.com/soa/music/mix/67/ Description: Well it has it's bright spots and it's rough spots, but overall we think it's a pretty decent mix. It's always interesting to discover how all the little mistakes are almost unnoticeable when you play live, but then they are much more evident when listened to on a home or computer stereo. But you also get a feeling for the spontaneous element in a live mix which makes it so magical. We had a blast playing at Upplysa and this recording is a collection of our most recent favorite proggy psy tracks so we hope you enjoy it. =) Tracklist: 1. Pylon vs Haydz - Ebbflow 2. Heliotrope - Draculum 3. Andromeda - Out of the Limit 4. SunControlSpecies - Structure 5. FREq - Dreambody 6. Phony Orphants - Horny Enphants 7. Gome - Sound Safari 8. Antix & Merry Pranksta - Boyskee Beat 9. Antix - The Inkling 10. Genetic Spin - Quiet 11. Nasa - Log On 12. Moses - Trukket I Lyden 13. Phony Orphants - Prayer 14. Jirah - Essence 15. FREq - Nurbs 16. Higher Human Form - Immobilized 17. Moses - Moonpie 18. Sensite - Sublime 19. Axiomata - Concentration (Tetraktys Rmx) 20. Tetraktys - Burning Palace 21. Tetraktys - Lightframe Reviews: God I love these guys. - Curt Bah... I still can't believe I missed this live... but this is great! - Chodaboy Wicked awesome! LeeAnne This is a beautiful mix man, I really like how it progresses and builds. the track choice is excellent too, right up my alley. - Drew This set introduced me to Prog Psy. Thanks Guys. - anonymous This set is absolutely fantastic. Thank you guys, you did a great job mixing this. - anonymous

Luna Tech by DJ Nokturnal Released: Feb 1, 2005 Genre: Psytrance - Progressive Length: 1:12:17 Listen / Download Here: http://www.area709.com/darvin/music/mix/37/ Description: To me psyprog is one of the most creative and cutting edge sounds being produced right now in the world of electronica. It has elements of tribal house, progressive house, tech trance, psytrance and ambient/down tempo. I am often temped to play a whole set of it when performing but I usually always step up into harder psytrance as I am worried that dancers will not find it intense enough. This recording was an attempt to show that this music can be all one needs. I wanted a CD that did not deviate from the progressive sound and to do that I stayed away from any tracks that had a classic reverberating psytrance bassline of any sort. Compiling this mix took me approximately 40 hours, and it very nearly drove me totally bonkers as I was having some serious issues with direction and transitions. When I attempted to mix it however I got it on the first try so I was very happy about that as I was dreading another couple of weeks of trying to get it mixed well enough that I was satisfied with it. It is not as tight as other mixes of mine, but I was inspired by Rusty's mix ONE SHOT NO CHASER, and as well by conversations I had shared with him about what a good mix cd should be: that flaws are exciting and add a element of humanity to a CD. And I had to add a little hats off to my close friend Jay (Jintonik) at the very end of my mix by borrowing an idea he used at the start of his WAY TO GILEAD mix. Feel free to share your thoughts on this one! Tracklist: 1 Son Kite - Let Us Be 2 Antix - Chase 3 Frogacult - Back to the Woods 4 Lunaspice - Tixaan 5 XV Kilst - Pornblocker 6 Antix - Darko 7 Buzzmonx - Shift 8 Heliotrope - Hellion 9 FREq vs Spherical - Suzuki Sun 10 FREq - Return of the Masters 11 FREq - Spacechanger 12 Mondayz Millionaires - Coldies for Goldies 13 Son Kite - Let us Be (vocal sample) Reviews: What do you mean coming soon? This thing is pretty wicked in its current state. Still the master of driving and techy minimalistic madness. - Wes Powerful spontaneous emission, Nokturnal... enjoyed the flow for sure...very interesting segues give good groove. - Azul Darvin, I love the new psy mix! Antix: Lull has been my favorite psytrance cd for about 5 months now, I even thought about emailing you when I first heard track 1, Darko. I though "now THIS, is trance!". I crave that minimal progressive sound. We just got hooked up with high speed here at our new house in Halifax. Being able to listen to the 709 mixes whenever I want is such a treat, I will always plug the site and support you guys. Keep up the great work and I hope that 2005 brings you much joy. Miss you and everyone else in Calgary, peace. - Ben I thought the music was AWESOME! Do you ever travel down to the states? - Mama Gaea You BEATFREAK, Absolutely Unbelievable! LUNA TECH is one of the best sets I have ever heard. I need to get this one! - Francescobubbles Awesome mix mate... I like it! - Dan Nice choons... I really liked your mix! - Amanita Hello, I really like this mix... some nice progressive in here, and mixed really well. Keep it up! - Sunrunner Wow... this is beautiful, I love it!! - Pax This mix is incredible, I absolutely love it. I just burned a copy and I can't wait to listen to it full blast in my car. I can't get past the 3rd track, I just keep listening to that one over and over! Seriously, there's nothing I don't love about that track; the floating, the echo-y sounds, and how pensive it is at first, and how it gets just a touch nastier towards the end. Its a definite bum wiggler babe... a bum wiggler indeed. And the female vocal that whispers "our house", its hot. Hot hot hot. I loooove it. - Irena Not my style, but VERY well put together IMHO. Good work. - DaveJeff What a NICE Valentine's gift this is! We're listening to it right now and it is very very tasty! Nice and tight. Sweeeeet build-up of intensity, woohoo!! We're burning a CD of it at the same time so can enjoy it again another time. THANKS for sharing. - Anneke

One Shot, No Chaser by DJ Cricket Released: Oct 25, 2004 Genre: Psytrance - Full On Length: 1:15:07 Listen / Download Here: http://www.area709.com/rusty/music/mix/31/ Track List: 1. Dino Psaras (Oktava Records) - Ear Candy 2. Matenda (Flow Records) - Star Light 3. Wrecked Machines (Etnica.Net) - Obscure Land 4. Tristan & ManMadeMan (Transient Records) - Tetrapod 5. Xerox & Illumination (Crystal Matrix Records) - Night Shift 6. Skazi (Spun Records) - Fire 'N' Ice 7. Rinkadink (Etnica.Net) - Kookykaboom (Total Kraken remix) 8. Hydrophonic (Nano Records) - Electric Lady 9. Safi Connection (Etnica.Net) - Space Navigators 10. Etnica vs Wrecked Machines (Etnica.Net) - The Honour (live mix) 11. Point (Phantasm Records) - Access 12. Rinkadink (Alchemy Records) - Stampede 13. Space Monkey (Agitato Records) - Toxic Game 14. Setherian (High-End Records) - Vader D Raider 15. Suria (Crystal Matrix Records) - One More Description: These are some tracks I had been playing over the summer, along with some of the ones I had played at the Halloween Party at Weed's, and a few tossed in as the mix progressed. I wanted to keep it as close to a live feel as possible, which is why not every mix is perfect. Sometimes mixed sets are done over and over and over again, becoming very clinical and tight, but losing any kind of spontanaity and breathability. Some of my favorite mixes are live ones, where the chance for mistakes exist; you can hear the DJ working. Not unlike this one. Done in one shot; no edits, no breaks... no chaser.

Sons of Aurora - Motion Notion 2004 - Long Mix Released: Jul 17, 2004 Genre: Psytrance - Full On Length: 1:57:14 Listen / Download Here: http://www.area709.com/soa/music/mix/117/ Description: This is not a live recording. The set was recorded live, but was full of distortion from the mixer. That seriously sucks since we had an extra hour recorded when we jammed with Treavor Moontribe. Fek. This recording is still pretty great though, and we are proud to have it up for people to check out. Motion Notion 2004 was an incredible event (THANK YOU JAMES!!), and for us to be wedged between Tipper and Treavor Moontribe was unreal. People were freaking out, and to our total delight the northern lights even shone brightly in the sky while we played.....how's that for visuals eh!??! Ha!! Tracklist: 1. Beat Bizarre - Booger Launcher 2. Shakta - Into The Light 3. Etic - Touch Ups 4. Beat Bizarre - Pests for Pets 5. Tetraktys - Stoned Immaculate 6. Shakta - Akira Lives! 7. Beat Bizarre - Eavesdrop Pop 8. Magnetrixx - Somnam 9. Metronome - Orange 10. Meller - Banshee 11. Sensum - Mental Floss 12. Wizzy Noise - Elektro Theater 13. Space Monkey - Digital Illusion 14. Rinkadink - Kookykaboom 15. Zertonine - Arkturus 16. LoMaX - Human Beings 17. Space Monkey - Resident Evil 18. Droidlock vs. Shirkan - Tuning 19. Space Monkey - Distorted reality 20. Human Blue - Soulsqueezer Reviews: I'll say it once , Ill say it twice.. and maybe a few more times after: That was one of ze bests sets i've heard... eva. You guys were super that night. - Nadine Three key parts of this set that I absolutely love. The slow start, which makes me imagine people just swaying from side to side like blades of grass in the wind. This is in contrast to the moments around the 68 and 100 minute marks that just about give me an aneurysm every time I listen. You guys did a fantastic job pacing the set. I've heard relentless full-on sets that have left me numb after 20 minutes, but this one turns up the heat at the perfect moments and just leaves me blown away. I'll probably anticipate your next set at more than the headliner next year at Motion Notion, unless Katalyst happens to land Sphongle - Anonymous Sons Of Aurora, amazing set. Since I made the journey from Winnipeg City to Motion Notion this summer, I've always acknowledged your set as one of the finest that weekend. So, I was incredibly pleased to find out that it was available online! Awesome set!! It reminds me so much of that wonderful weekend at Motion Notion this past summer... Keep on rockin' in the psy world..... - Chris (aka lo progression) Hey guys! I just wanted to tell you how I was blown away by your set at Motion Notion and your 'tag' with Moontribe afterwards. It was amazing! I know my friend e-mailed you guys already, it's was his first rave ever and you helped make it a truly unforgettable experience. We are both huge fans now and it's exciting to know there is such great talent coming out of our home town! Have listened to the Motion Notion mix and the Shambhala mix and I can't stop! Thanks again for sharing your talent and love with us at Motion Notion. Take care and keep making great music! - Tyler Darvin and Norris, What can I say but thank you for making Motion Notion for me. You guys kicked some serious ass with your tunes and mixing, such a nice buildup, slowly starting off the set getting everyone warmed up. The whole time I was thinking oh my god, these guys are building to something insane! And you did not disappoint, there were times on the dance floor I was just blown away, the builds and breakdowns were so good! At times I just wanted to scream out my appreciation, but I had no air in my lungs from dancing so hard, those moments I opened my mouth in stunned appreciation. And that track with the evil laugh before the music dropped into insanity was absoulutely sick! We who saw you that night (or any night for that matter) are truly blessed to have you guys playing music for us! Thank you thank you thank you! - Craig.

Children of the Night by DJ Nokturnal Released: Dec 1, 2003 Genre: Psytrance - Minimal Length: 1:13:46 Listen / Download Here: http://www.area709.com/darvin/music/mix/39/ Description: Based on a set I played at a fetish masquerade party, it is every bit as deep, dark and sexy as I envisioned it. During my set performers spun fire chains, as well as were pierced by rather large gauge hooks through their back. Pleasure and pain are such strange bedfellows. Tracklist: 1 Syncro - Porn 2 Phony Orphonts - Chocolate Icetea 3 Beat Bizarre - Deep Disco Profile 4 Timetech - At All Times 5 Beat Bizarre - Funk Fliud 6 Tarsis - Distance 7 Fiasco Systems - Fettometer 8 Vibrasphere - New Port 9 Cosma - Lemon Light 10 Tegma - Werewolf - Beat Bizarre Remix 11 Timetech - Notes 12 Beat Bizzare - Pony Sauce 13 P Woland - The Lovely Wife - Reefer Decree Remix Reviews: Just wanted to let you know that I listen to your mixes all the time while I'm working. They are definatly some of the most insightfull and intelligent sets I've heard in awhile. Children Of The Night is one of my favorites. Anyways just wanted to give you a shout out for the great mixes. - J-Byrd You have a superb flow! - Dave Man, this mix is so damn good. It's really tripping me out. I think I might have to buy your cd of this. Is it full CD quality? Like burned from a wav file, not mp3? - Osteen Hey Darvin, just starting to listen to your stuff! THANK YOU so much for making this available online...you have what I crave, baby WOOOHOO!! When you coming to Vancouver? - Squishelle Right on brotha, this shit is tight. Don't suppose you'll be on the east coast anytime will ya? You should get in on the Gaian Mind festival in June! - Max I've just had a chance to listen to the full stream and this is quite a nice mix you've put together. Most of the tracks I haven't heard, but there's a couple that are real stormers! I especially like track four, and a very nice transition into it I might add. There's only about 3 or 4 tracks that I'd consider my typical PSY listening style, but overall I thought you did a great job with most mixes. Very nice set! 8.5/10 - TwoHardCore I love these sleek proggy scandosounds... it's aural sex. I'm only on the third track or so, but it's 0wning me already. - Grahf Very good! Solid mix. I'm glad I decided to check it out. It's been awhile since I heard a mix like this, and it was really refreshing. Good job! I look forward to hearing more. - Dylan Leroy Wow. I love how the start is so minimal and it gradually sucks you in. I listened to it at a time when I was in a lot of physical pain and it grabbed my mind and took me away on a peaceful journey... and when I came back I actually decided that winter was beautiful (if you know me - you know I am the queen of winter hating and that is a big accomplishment). Thank you for the awesome gifts you keep bringing to this community. - Heather Very well mixed. Good track selection too...EDIT: Just have to double that! Actually it's quite a while since I heard something that was as great as this! Keep up the good work! - Ziddy Wow....opening track is making me crazy! Amazing work, I think this is my favorite one of yours. - Michelle-y

Sons of Aurora - Shamhala 2003 - Disc 1 Released: Aug 17, 2003 Genre: Psytrance - Melodic Length: 1:19:01 Listen / Download Here: http://www.area709.com/soa/music/mix/112/ Description: This one is a JOURNEY. I know, I know everyone says that about their mixes, but we played for over FOUR HOURS on Friday night, the first night ever of the new trance stage at Shambhala. Due to bandwidth considerations, this mix had to be broken into three sections. As well this is not a live mix, but a remix of the exact set we played. This first section invites those standing in the shadows to come forward and surrender themselves to the waves of sound. It has moments of broken beat madness as well as those throbbing psytrance basslines that have the ability to mesmerize and send the mind soaring. TRACKLIST: 1. Atmos - Fill The Hat 2. Cosma - Out Of Range 3. Cosma - Non Stop 4. Son Kite - Airplay 5. The Light - Expand the Room 6. Luke Chable - Sunspirit 7. God Within - Raincry 8. Joujouka - Re-Psycle Frequency (Big Psyche Mix) 9. Cosma - Human Evolution 10. Nerve - Nervous 11. Lube - E.Q. 12. Lish - Bring The Pain 13. Atmos - Sonic Kipper 14. Timetech - Notes REVIEWS: I am glad I found your site and this mix. Fantastic. Comments on das Shambhala mix: The first thing that strikes me with the beginning of this mix is the smoothness. Great Mixing. I had to really listen close to find your mixes, but when I sensed the elements of the next song, it was very smooth...Great Job! Track selection was great...kept the forward momentum flowing, but certainly pointing towards an end destination. I have all too many times heard some DJ?s just play tracks with no direction, no purpose, or where the set plateaus and never goes anywhere. You guys lay down the mix with authority. Keep it rolling. I liked a track in there that had school children singing ?ashes we all fall down?. Sweet! - Todd Smith Mad work! Really great mix of elements and beats, so far so great into the first hour. - Olas I like how you blended a lot of progressive sounds with a few full tracks, and even a little euro in there too. Nice across the board set. - Paradigm Sons of Aurora - Shamhala 2003 - Disc 2 Released: Aug 17, 2003 Genre: Psytrance - Progressive Length: 1:19:44 Listen / Download Here: http://www.area709.com/soa/music/mix/113/ Description: Starting deep and dropping off into a beautiful ambient vocal, this second section then picks up and has it's quirky moments. We felt that those dancing would need a break, a chance to gather their energies. Afterwards we dove right back into the thick of things. TRACKLIST: 1. Timetech - Notes 2. Beat Bizarre - Monocrome 3. Timetech - At All Times 4. Noma - Soon 5. Invocation - Anubis 6. Audiopile - The Drill 7. Atmos - Old Painless 8. Llpopis - Centrafuge (Son Kit Remix) 9. Unknown - Unknown 10. Fly agaric - I See Myself 11. Boo Reka - In Hell x Hell 12. Nuclear Ramjet - Evolution 13. Unknown - Unknown 14. Spirallianz - Hide and Seek 15. Radiohead - Idioteque 16. Talpa -Talpania REVIEWS: After going through all 4 hours of this mix, I'm left speechless wishing I would've been there to see it live. Such a winding trip through an eclectic selection of tracks; and the energy and heart from these two can be felt all the way through. I absolutely love it and will be listening to it over and over for days to come. - Wes Straub Awesome opening on Part 2...I love how psy-trance can get away with making beautiful tracks that you just would not hear in a club otherwise. I love the ethnic flair at the beginning of this mix, the female vocal echoes and ethnic drums pander lightly, you really bring some great elements in here and slowly ever so slowly comes the beat, ready to take flight. The synths scream from the darkness catching up with the beats and finally the bass line takes root moving away the ethereal, back to a more psy-trance feel into the depths of bass. The mix continues on with a consistent energy, nice explosive breaks and re-entries. And another open vocal break drifting away from the heavy bass lines about 1/3 way through only to tease you and SLAM right back into beats and bass lines, AWESOME. The mix continues in a hard fashion, and then releasing to a trippier plane of existence, with the roars of delayed 303?s and echoes and eventually running through thickets of deep and organic sounds. Tasty goodness to send your head spinning, feet moving, body shaking, and mind exploding. The track selection is top notch for this journey. You just get more pumped up, as this mix moves forward. More vocals sneak in, a little more of a surprise about 2/3 way through. And I think this is one of the surprises of the mix. It is some sort of a cappella, maybe not specifically written for a psy-trance track, but it fit in the mix. Refreshing changes, and pushing the musical envelope requires changes to include the unexpected. This is an example of how to push that envelope with success, while retaining the essence of the mix. It stands out enough, but never too far out to the listener to say ?what the fuck is that??. Another example of this is a brassy horn ensemble that follows shortly after the a cappella, with a mix of saxophone and trombones also with sliding guitar notes matching the horns. Something not the usual in a psy-trance set, but this is what I like about it. - Todd Smith Sons of Aurora - Shamhala 2003 - Disc 3 Released: Aug 17, 2003 Genre: Psytrance - Melodic Length: 1:19:44 Listen / Download Here: http://www.area709.com/soa/music/mix/114/ Description: This last section begins with us slipping in a beautiful breaks track then touching again on darker psy sounds. As the sun was coming up we let loose the more melodic sounds. It was one very long set, and seeing smiles on the faces of those who stayed to the end was more than enough of a reward for the effort we put into it. Thank you to all the beautiful souls that joined us and we hope you enjoy this recording, may it bring us all back to that special time and place. TRACKLIST: 1. Sasha - Wavy Gravy 2. Phony Orphants - Chocolate Ice Tea 3. Spirallianz - Neurosport 4. Vibrasphere - Indian Summer 5. Psysex - Hardcore Blastoff 6. SBK - Ueberflieger 7. Psysex - The Final Mission 8. SBK - Demosong 9. Biscaya - Bass Syndrom 10. SBK - Marschmellow 11. Anaphaz - Cyberlys 12. Astrix - Unknown 13. Unknown - Unknown 14. Psysex - Smooth Sailing 15. Infected Mushroom - Elation Station REVIEWS: Dear Darvin, this is Mirka from Vancouver. I just wanted to drop you a line and say hello and let you know that Jay blessed me with the third disc of your Shambhala set last year. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!! I wish I could have been there...honestly I have never heard anything so creative from someone in a very long time. I feel like I actually got to know you a bit by listening to this disc. I can hardly wait to have pts 1 & 2 so I can piece the puzzle together more accurately. I have not been this sonically challenged since I stumble upon Treavor's set around the same time last year. You truly have raised the bar for me personally and I am once again encouraged to fear nothing and be true to what is in my heart. I have secretly harbored a love for dark music for so long and you actually play some tracks I own!!!!!! Wavy Gravy (not a surprise) but the big surprise was the Atmos track, at least I think it's called that (I am at home so I am not able to refer to my collection) I will check it when I get home and let you know which one I mean. I have been playing that for a year now and people never seemed to get it in Vancouver but there you are playing it and I felt my heart leap!!!! SOMEONE GETS IT Thank you so much for this, even though I acquired it secondhand, and I extend my sincerest apologies if I seen neurotic or over enthusiastic but to be honest I meet very few people who I can communicate with musically and even though I really haven't been able to talk with you for long I know you are just like me. Love Mirka - Blacktiger Recordings In this third section, the breaks are well timed, giving you time to catch up. I sometimes think I might need a few more, so you could take a rest from dancing. But then again I was never a super energized sustainable dancer for 2-3 hours. Sasha's Wavy Gravy...didn't expect to hear that, but nice for a sustained moment of relaxation then back into the fray of Psy-Trance. Dive, Dive, Dive!!!! Keep it going strong and push that musical envelope, that is the only way we evolve. - Todd Smith

Dream Seek by DJ Nokturnal Released: May 1, 2002 Genre: Psytrance - Minimal Length: 1:12:02 Listen / Download: http://www.area709.com/darvin/music/mix/46/ Description: This is my attempt at a harder but not necessarily full-on psytrance mix. I wanted to keep it seriously driving but somehow maintain some depth to it. This one was a struggle for me, and nearly did not get completed. As I was in the middle of the last mix which is actually three tracks in at the same time, my house mates visiting father answered the phone which happened to be for me (of course!) and proceeded to insist that I take the call. I managed to ignore him long enough to not ruin the whole recording, and I did not miss the call. Ha! Tracklist: 1. Seeka - Thirst 2. Son Kite - Youngel 3. Zertonine - Acid Theater 4. Igneous Sauria - Metamorph 5. Visual Paradox - Laughing Dog on Bog 6. Fabel vs. Antix - Patterns 7. Aphid Moon - Chi 8. Nemesis vs Pura Natura - Dj Hallucination 9. Lube - E.Q. 10. Shaman - Supha Oupah 11. BLT - Global Spirit 12. Great Leap Forward - White Whales 13. Purple and Ronan - Future Blue 14. Fly Agaric - I See Myself Reviews: Just listened to the Dreamseek mix and its great, a very nice tribal touch in your selection, I like percussions in my set too. The mixing is very good as well, did you record it all in one shot? Keep good. - Uv @ doof records. Dreamseek is SO wicked, I listened to it on my stereo at home and thought it was all right...but on my discman it just sounds like 100 times better and trippier, I think I'm just picking up on a lot of sounds I missed before. I love how deep and dark it is! - Irena This has always been my favorite of everything you've ever done Darvin, it's always a freq player in my bedside player. - anonymous This is a dark, moody, edgy set that hits hard and deep all the way through. The work of someone that knows how to set a theme early and keep it going until the last driving beat. Great stuff. - James

Cortex Vortex by DJ Nokturnal Released: Feb 1, 2001 Genre: Psytrance - Full On Length: 1:22:44 Listen / Download: http://www.area709.com/darvin/music/mix/49/ Description: Completing this mix nearly got me thrown out of the house I was living in at the time because of the repetition and volume level of my endless attempts to get this mix right. Over and over and over..... and over I tried to mix this through cleanly. I was playing from vinyl and I had only just barely learned how to beat match when I began this project, my first truly contrived and painfully recorded mix. I would emerge from my bedroom after 6 to 8 hours at a go, barely able to talk to anyone, that is how zombified I was. A couple of months went by... literally. When I finally got it, I fully broke down and balled from the release. And when I listen to it today, I still can not believe that I pulled it off, in spite of the long and off beat transition from track 7 to track 8. In fact I doubt I could repeat some sections of it without getting some serious practice time in, some of the transitions in the first third of the mix required that I mix 70-80% of each track, leaving me with as little as 20 sec to cue and bring in the next track. For me as a beginner, it was pretty much impossible. As well, at the time I did not realize that Mumbo Jumbo and Cosmosis were the same fellow, otherwise I would not have put so many tracks by he same person in the mix. No wonder they went so well together! I actually got him to sign my original beat up copy of Intergalactic when Norris and I played before him at Motion Notion in 2004, Bilbo Baggins is a pretty friendly fella it turns out. One last thing that I have never pointed out to anyone about this mix is that on track two there is a vocal where a female voice (Wynonna Ryder from Alien Resurrection) says "It's not real, it's not real!", and the last track of this mix has a male vocal that says "it's your mind that makes it real", how's that for programming? Ha! Can anyone say GEEK?!?! In the end all the effort was worth it as the mix made it's way to some really incredible people in Colorado and I ended up doing a three gig mini tour, the final event being at the UFO Watchtower in Sand Dune National Monument (where they filmed the desert scenes in Star Wars!) alongside Kode IV on the summer solstice. It was an incredible experience to say the least. Tracklist: 1. Unknown Controllers - Unknown Control 2. BUS - Lets Go 3. Stoop & Fidget - Speechless 4. Talamasca - Telepathic Atmospheres (Live Mix) 5. Ninja - Vortex Tunnel 6. BUS - Sweetness 7. Biodegradable - Ayakhustyx 8. Dragon - Fuse 9. 12 Moons - Zero Gravity 10. Mumbo Jumbo - Mysterons 11. Cosmosis - The Spirit World 12. S Range - Free Upgrade 13. Mumbo Jumbo - Fishbone Remix Reviews: Nice mix, man... hypnotizing enough. - Voice of All Listening to it now & absofcukinlutely amazing & a pleasure to listen to... Old is gold yea! Thanks for this mate. - Dogon Yes, had a listen, its wicked, heartily recommended. Let's Go! just killer, and nice mix into 'The spirit world' didn't see it coming at all, really very nice indeed. - Speakafreaka

Glad you are diggin the tunes =) -
Below is a post on a thread I started on a message board for a DJ mix. It's from a fella on a boat out at sea at this very moment... and it again makes me realize just how connected we are as a species because of technology. The internet is such a powerful creation..... Sick, Sick, Sick - As I write this I am in a tugboat doing an assist job off of the Coast. Heres the situation: Large container ship, lost steering hydraulics we hooked up last night, and are now putting 22000 Horsepower to the water to pull this thing to safety. two caterpillar 3616 diesels are screaming at 105%. (thats over 145DB in the engine room) So we have a 24000 Watt stereo with like 30 speakers above to blast dampening sound waves to quite it down. In addition to dampening it can play music over the noise, at the same time. Right now we are smashing through 50 foot swells, the rookies are barfing and we are all listening to this mix. As I have swayed to the green side - I saddens me that we are burning diesel at the rate of 14 gallons a minute. (faster than a garden hose can deliver) But break up a 1000 foot container ship on the rocks and see what happens, so I guess this is the lessor of two evils. And thanks to Globalstar - i am streaming this on a satphone. So at least we are doing it all in style I love technology I love it - later - mdmf007

Norris and I had a blast at Motion Notion this year, James really out did himself and the weather was INTENSE but made for big adventures for sure. We are now excited for our dub/glitch set at Shambhala on the Beach stage on Sunday, and of course taking part in the Green Moon (Green Sector & Moon Tribe, hello turbo sound rig!!) camp at Burning Man this August... now that's going to be one hot (+50 celcius, zero humidity is the forcast) and dusty week in the desert of Nevada. We will be wrapping up our summer festival season this year by playing at the Symbiosis gathering in California at the end of September so we are feeling very lucky for having so many incredible opportunities to play some tunes for folks. I have a bunch of great photos from gatherings and festivals in my photo gallery, and I have just added a bunch from Motion Notion, you can find them here: http://www.area709.com/darvin/gallery/view/93/ Listen to the mix here: http://www.area709.com/soa/music/mix/130/ Track List: 1. Tetrameth (Zenon) - The 49th Vibration 2. Protoculture - Refractions 3. Alternate Vision - Different Perspective - Andromeda Remix 4. Prometheus - Acadian Magik 5. One Tastey Morsel (Zenon CDR) - Psyconautical Engineering 6. Sensient (Zenon) - Nectar 7. Ticon - Poem for Granny 8. Faktor D - Sardine 9. Sensient (Zenon) - Immersion 10. Tranan - Into Paradise 11. Area 51 - FM 12. Hydrophonic - Heckyl N Jive 13. Setherian - Misanthrope Matters 14. The Commercial Hippies - Dr. Freakenstein 15. Sensient (Zenon CDR) - Loose Frequency 16. Sensient (Zenon) - Simple Sex 17. Krumelur (Zenon) - You Decide 18. Silver Surfers - Mudjaji - Protoculture Remix 19. Behind Blue Eyes - Rumble In The Jungle - Zen Mechanics Remix 20. Eskimo & Madcap - Take A Look Out There - Flip Flop Remix Description: We are VERY happy with how our set came together for this years Motion Notion festival, so we decided to record it afterwards here at home and post it up for others to enjoy. This year we were wedged between two full-on psy performers, with Wizzy Noise being the act to follow us, so our set was meant to be a roller coaster through driving minimal tech, progressive and full-on psy. Add to that the fact that our set started out with hot dry sky's filled with stars and ended during a MASSIVE rain/thunder storm with tornado warnings for the area in effect... talk about INTENSE!!!! In the end our laptop finally stopped working and our fear was that it had actually shorted out due to the rain but the next day it started up without a hitch which was a HUGE relief. Our goal was to keep everyone engaged, twist a few noodles and not burn people out on the full-on. From all the super-positive feedback I think we managed to kick some ass!! Many of the tracks are killer classics, with a few shinny new ones thrown in, and the overall flow is a bit of a journey so sit back and imagine the thunder clouds closing in from behind, and as the mix ends the rain is coming down with a vengeance and the clouds are swirling with the threat of tornadoes. They don't call us Sons of Aurora for nothing.... Enjoy!!

Burning Man is a art festival that takes place on a dried lake bed in the desert at altitude in Nevada, USA. 30-50,000 people create a city, Black Rock City, for one week, and brave the elements (30-45 Celsius, 0% humidity)and each other. I is not a party per say but you can party your arse off 24-7 if you so desire as there are many many many sound systems, some that are simply massive. There's also vast amounts of installation and interactive art, it's really a photographers wet dream. I condensed a huge pile of photos from our trip last summer and put them online if anyone is interested: http://www.area709.com/darvin/gallery/view/72/ Enjoy!
