Really Beautiful Festival Pictures from Western Canada
Nokturnal replied to Nokturnal's topic in General Psytrance
Haha, yes I am still amazed she let me slip and engagement ring on her finger this last winter while we were in Costa Rica. She is a fox, LOVES psytrance, is a smart cookie with a high profile job, and is full steam ahead to drop everything to travel the world with me next year for our honey moon.... one year of me djing across the globe... not many women would be up for that. To clarify, Justin is my friend who took the photos, I ( Darvin) and the fella who is lucky to have Irena. There is also a very large number of mixes free to download from the site from all the artists.... enjoy!!! -
Really Beautiful Festival Pictures from Western Canada
Nokturnal posted a topic in General Psytrance
A friend of mine gave me a dvd of pics he took last summer, and I have put some of them up for others to enjoy. They are getting me pretty damn excited for summer festival season. Some of these are seriously incredible photos, specifically from the Motion Notion and Shambhala music festicals: http://www.area709.com/darvin/gallery/ http://www.area709.com/soa/gallery/ Enjoy! And if you want to contact Justin to purchase any high res. images I am can put you in touch. -
ONLY AFTER DARK Released: May 1, 2007 Genre: Nighttime Psytrance Length: 1:14:24 DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.area709.com/darvin/music/mix/97/ To download simply register for the www.area709.com site, otherwise you can listen to all the mixes without needing to register. Description: I wanted to showcase a few of my favorite unreleased tracks due out on Zenon Records compilations this summer as well as a track by Anna (Anarchy) and another by Mikkel (NASA). These tunes have me pretty excited to getting out to the festivals and start letting the gems rip!!! This mix was a challenge as I had a fairly small pool of tracks to work with, and was also limited by the keys I could work in. And to top it off, my laptop and sound card decided to add a few artifacts tot he recording which I did not realize until I was done, and will go back in and remove once I get my technical issues sorted out. My thanks to Tim (Sensient), Tetrameth, Shadow Fx, One Tastey Morsel, Phat Kontrollerz, and Autonomech for letting me put this mix together to showcase their ridiculously awesome talents. And a really big thanks for getting me to join the Zenon crew as a label dj! Tracklist: 1. Shadow Fx - Dr Elephant 2. Suncontrolspecies – Coma URELEASED 3. Phat Kontrollerz - Track 8 URELEASED 4. Sensient - Sona Arome 5. Anarchy - Wherever 6. N.A.S.A. - Penetration Generation 7. One Tastey Morsel - Psyconautical Engineering URELEASED 8. Sensient - Loose Frequency URELEASED 9. Sensient - Simple Sex 10. Tetrameth - 49th Vibration 11. Autonomech - Track 3 URELEASED Comments: Nice mix bro, thanks! - Tim Sensient One awesome mix man -Topher I think i may need a new pair of undies!!! - Bender balls to the wall. some of the best tunes in existance... period. Good to see morsel getting some coverage too - Tweekunit Yeah love that Aussie Zenon flavor - Alex Seriously wikid. This is the kind of trance I crave to move with - and it's intricate and lyrical enough to sit and listen to. A rare thing for me. I love trance but generally can't listen to it at home... thanks Darvin, BOOM! - Synaesthesia Darvin - This is truly your best mix. I've listened to it several times already and I'm convinced of this. It's explosively psychedelic. The perfect progression of the tracks, the seamless mixing, not to mention the tracks themselves are all absolute masterpieces. Those unreleased Sensient and One Tasty Morsel tracks are so good, they had their way with my mind-meat whilst doing the dishes! I was envisioning myself outdoors somewhere, with a proper system and dancing like a maniac... now if you can make me feel like that in my own kitchen on small computer speakers, you will truly push (no, destroy) the musical envelope with these tracks this summer. If it weren't being held on the absolute other side of the country, I would surely make it out to see these tasty musical morsels in action this Saturday in Vancouver. I'm jealous of all of those who can make it! Rip it up, Bruvva! peace - Ben Rama

I checked out the first of the three, very nice listen, thanks. =) I will have to check out your others too.
-
Nice work indeed. =) Very cohesive sound, some of my favorite trance elements.... oldskool in nature to me, but also timless. My only criticisms would be the mix from track one to two, it seemed sudden and was quite out of key to my ears. A little rough of a mix at 36 min as well. May I ask, did you use mixing software, or cd's? I really enjoyed the mix, thank you!!

Psytrance Promo 2007 - Motion Notion Mixed by: Sons of Aurora Mixed and Recorded: Jan 2007 Genre: Progressive & Full-On Psytrance Length: 1:18:22 http://audio.area709.com/djmusicdet.php?dj=21&mix=190 Description: This is the first installment in our three part Sons of Aurora promotions package we are sending out for the 2007 season. Although regrettably not a live recording, we feel this mix best portrays the sounds we love when ripping it up in front of a crowd while under the open skies. We chose to remix this selection and add a new ending in the hope that although the tracks are not super fresh, the mix as a whole will give promoters an idea of what we consider to be our favorite progressive and full-on psytrance sounds. Tracklist: 1. Beat Bizarre - Booger Launcher 2. Shakta - Into The Light 3. Etic - Touch Ups 4. Beat Bizarre - Pests for Pets 5. Tetraktys - Stoned Immaculate 6. Shakta - Akira Lives! 7. Wizzy Noise - Elektro Theater 8. Space Monkey - Digital Illusion 9. Rinkadink - Kookykaboom 10. Zertonine - Arkturus 11. LoMaX - Human Beings 12. Space Monkey - Resident Evil 13. Droidlock vs. Shirkan - Tuning 14. Space Monkey - Distorted reality 15. Fly Agaric - I See Myself Reviews: Ill say it once , Ill say it twice.. and maybe a few more times after: That was one of ze bests sets i've heard... eva. You guys were super that night. - Nadine Three key parts of this set that I absolutely love. The slow start, which makes me imagine people just swaying from side to side like blades of grass in the wind. This is in contrast to the moments around the 68 and 100 minute marks that just about give me an aneurysm every time I listen. You guys did a fantastic job pacing the set. I've heard relentless full-on sets that have left me numb after 20 minutes, but this one turns up the heat at the perfect moments and just leaves me blown away. I'll probably anticipate your next set at more than the headliner next year at Motion Notion, unless Katalyst happens to land Shpongle - Anonymous Sons Of Aurora, amazing set. Since I made the journey from Winnipeg City to Motion Notion this summer, I've always acknowledged your set as one of the finest that weekend. So, I was incredibly pleased to find out that it was available online! Awesome set!! It reminds me so much of that wonderful weekend at Motion Notion this past summer... Keep on rockin' in the psy world..... - Chris (aka lo progression) Hey guys! I just wanted to tell you how I was blown away by your set at Motion Notion and your 'tag' with Moontribe afterwards. It was amazing! I know my friend e-mailed you guys already, it's was his first rave ever and you helped make it a truly unforgettable experience. We are both huge fans now and it's exciting to know there is such great talent coming out of our home town! Have listened to the Motion Notion mix and the Shambhala mix and I can't stop! Thanks again for sharing your talent and love with us at Motion Notion. Take care and keep making great music! - Tyler Darvin and Norris, What can I say but thank you for making Motion Notion for me. You guys kicked some serious ass with your tunes and mixing, such a nice buildup, slowly starting off the set getting everyone warmed up. The whole time I was thinking oh my god, these guys are building to something insane! And you did not disappoint, there were times on the dance floor I was just blown away, the builds and breakdowns were so good! At times I just wanted to scream out my appreciation, but I had no air in my lungs from dancing so hard, those moments I opened my mouth in stunned appreciation. And that track with the evil laugh before the music dropped into insanity was absoulutely sick! We who saw you that night (or any night for that matter) are truly blessed to have you guys playing music for us! Thank you thank you thank you! - Craig.

My favorite mix of yours I have heard Alexander. I have been really enjoying the electro elements in prog psy / house lately, and you got some gems in here. =)

I can not believe how much work you put into your reviews. They are very well written and very numerous... how do you find the time?
-
Hope you enjoyed it. =)

All our mixes are downloadable =) The event was indeed named enlighten in Swedish, we were featuring Scando sounds, decor done in a norse theme and so on... and we had Martin of Beat Bizarre. It was one of the best nights of my life as a promoter, an event my crew and I are very very proud of. =)

You know, I have never done that. I am not as computer savvy as i coud be, I admit. Can you explane to me what information is included in the cue file? Is it the track listing and the times for the track breaks? It's alreay so much work just to compile, mix, master, host and post the mixes..... ;-)

I have a mix, which may be exceptional, but you can be the judge!! http://audio.area709.com/darvin/music/illucid.mp3 You have heard one of my other mixes, we have reviewed each others work. Let me know what you think. =) Darvin.

Exactly as my girl Irena ordered, each track and transition approved by her, this mix is deep, dark, dirty and very progressive. This mix was also VERY hard to compile, taking over 80 hours and four months. Compiling a cd with another person did make the process a long one, but it was also something we both really enjoyed. As well, this version is an edited master, my mixer is on the fritz and once I get it repaired a new unedited final mix will be posted. http://audio.area709.com/darvin/music/illucid.mp3 Critical feedback is welcome!!! ILLUCID Tracklist: 1. Echotek - Old Reaction 2. Sharon and Robert - Desire 3. Phony Orphants - Chicago Collins 4. Nyquist - Flatline 5. Dousk - Estrange 6. Bitmonx vs Fabio - Deep Sense 7. Friday May 27th, the collective of artists who call www.area709.com their home will be coming together to offer our community a chance to share our passion for creative expression. The event will focus on the progressive/intelligent elements of house, trance and psytrance. The decor will be purposeful and personal. The intention will be inclusive and genuine. We will create a space from the vision we share, and we invite all those who wish to join us on this very special night. Musical Artists Travelling from Sweden, we bring you the sounds of... Beat Bizarre In the world of progressive psytrance the Iboga label of Sweden is renowned for it's ground breaking releases and extremely high quality production. One of Iboga's top live acts, Martin Zimmerman and Rene Nielsen are masters of the progressive pstyrance sound. We have been very fortunate to get Martin to travel so far to share a set of his newest creations and unreleased material in a solo live set. Jay Michael - deep/beautiful proggy psy/breaks/house Rusty Ezard - dark/driving melodic psytrance Byron Pope - ambient/downtempo/deep progressive psy Wes Straub - dark progressive trance Sons of Aurora - driving melodic/techy proggy psy Visual Artists Byron Pope - Live VJ Seed Of Life, Area709 Delayne Corbett - Ice Sculpting Sculptin, Area709 Lee Nielsen - Muralist www.humanate.com, Area709 Adusia - Muralist www.adusia.ca, Area709 Darren Schweitzer - Muralist Team Psyence, Area709 Eye Phi Dezign - Fabric Decor Conscious Alterations, Area709 As you can see we have quite a few very talented and passionate people putting their energies into this project. But this event will be meaningless without a few good people for us to share it with. This event is not for profit, the budget as been designed to put our projected income entirely into the event itself. A large majority of the artists are donating their time and skills so that we could put as much money into decore and our headliner as possible. This is our gift to you our community, and we hope that you help us spread the word and make it a very memorable night. Namaste!!!!!!!!!
