  1. Artist: Adham Shaikh Release: Fusion Year: 2004 Label: Dakini Records Cat-#: DAK2114 Rating: 4.5/5.0 Tracklisting: 1. Opal 2. Flying Beyond 3. Dubfire 4. Infusion ( Bombay Mix ) 5. Ohm ( Transfix Mix ) 6. Gayatri Mantra Shuffle 7. Somtin Hapnin ( Ganesh Mix ) 8. Krishna Raga ( Dakini Dub ) 9. Shake It ( Shaikh It ) 10. Newborn Shuffle 11. Rabbit Hole Raga ( Spore Mix ) A very stunning listening experience. There's very much here to just immerse yourself in. Very good drum programming throughout, with all the percussion and the dub this album truly becomes one really nice rhythmic journey. Keep on adding here with guitar, vocals, flutes, sitars... there is no possibility to be bored. A really great fusion of instruments and music styles. Opal is a fast paced piece with a nice warm atmosphere, it's quite laidback yet still bodymoving, very feel good kind of track with nice uplifting flutelines. Flying Beyond keeps the flute and the 4 by 4 beat but now a lot more dreamy and slow. No busy percussionwork in this one, only sweet drifty melodies. We're going real slow and dubby with Dubfire and now things are really drifting, it's like it wants to put me to sleep with it's piano lulls. Things get a bit more headnodding (and I don't mean falling asleep) with Infusion, a nice beat with a nice drizzling guitar riff. Tim Floyd on bass and guitar all combined to one very listener friendly laidback track, yet again very dreamy. Ohm, things are speeding up again but it's not stressing in anyway, the vocals, melody sequence and the flute takes care of weaving an intricate yet relaxing atmosphere. Gayatri Mantra Shuffle is the track that made me buy the album, after I heard this track there was no reason not to have the damn record. Brilliant vocaldrone input, mesmerizing to say the least. Very nice dubby percussion-filled environment, all fits perfectly. The melodic climax in the end is indeed also an experience. All in all, in my opinion, a brilliantly produced piece of music. Then we're suddenly back to Essence, an excerpt of Somptin' Hapnin'. A dreamy interlude. It's featured in an imax film called Sacred Planet, I don't know what the film is about but the track does indeed sound very soundtrack:ish. It fades out and leave room for the very long build up intro of Krishna Raga, a very eventful track once it gets started. The intro is almost a song of it own filled with rhythmic vocal exhalations, chanting and percussion, the track explodes somewhere around the 5 minute mark with a sitarsolo and a steady 4 by 4 beat. The sitar fades out quite quickly to be replaced by Adhams synths and emphatic beat but returns as suddenly as it disappears. Then a break in the frenzy a few minutes later and the first part of the track is incorporated. Shake It is a fast paced dubby tribal workout track... it's way too long to just listen to, maybe this track could be used rather effectively in DJ-sets. Does sound like a track you're suppose to play around with. Newborn Shuffle is an unpolished acoustic piece, while it's nice and catchy I think it shuffles about a bit too much. The track goes pretty much nowhere. The record ends with Rabbit Hole Raga, more dub accompanied by a sweet melody synth-sequence and a dreamy windy flute. Very nice ending track in typical Adham style.

    Review Requests

I'm about to post a review of Adham Shaikh - Fusion... and yes, it's a real good album.
  3. 4. I buy from both... I buy more from Saiko mainly because they have much more to choose from, old goa/psy, new stuff and a bunch of interesting ambient CDs.
  5. I'm running around in there somewhere as well... http://www.discogs.com/user/Mergi
  6. I have the two first releases, and I'd buy more if I could. Very very nice ambient music, abstract and experimental... it all gives you a very interesting listen. It reminds me a bit of the stuff DiN releases. Usually when getting to know new labels I check the labels on discogs to get myself some sort of perspective of what it is, then I try some of the sound samples. I stumbled upon Databloem and checked it out, samples sounded good as well, so I bought the two first ones.
  7. Artist: The Infinity Project Title: Tribadelic Meltdown EP Label: Fabulous Records Year: 1992 Cat#: FABU 016T Rating: 3/5 Tracklisting: A1: Hyperactive A2: Zero Gravity B1: The Law B2: A Place Called Far Out B3: I Love My Baby Martin Freeland seemed to have been involved quite extensivly with the TIP project in the early days, and you can really hear his presence here. The synth programming is really tight and emphatic, like much of MWNN's later productions, which you can hear clearly in tracks A1 and B1. Hyperactive is a tweaked nighttime trance track and is probably the best track on the record, at least IMO. Zero Gravity lacks in power and falls short after maybe 2 minutes, I seriously don't like it all too much, the melody layers lacks imagination and I end up being quite bored. The other side gives you The Law, it's quite stripped down but that does not bother me. It still has a nice groove and nice melodies throughout. A Place Called Far Out is very much more of a house tune, very bouncy sort of tune seemingly like it wants you to get into a real good mood. It actually succeeds somewhat, here you also get to hear Raja Ram on the flute for the first time (at least I think it's him) which adds significantly to the already feel good vibe. The track is nothing too special but it's still quite nice. I Love My Baby is a short track, fast paced and tweaked but like A2 it lacks power and I just grow tired of it. A nice Mini-LP overall, tracks like Hyperactive is the main reason why you would want to get this. On the other hand it can't compete with the classic tunes they created later on, so it's not an essential must have piece of vinyl. Though if you stumble upon it I would suggest you buy it.
  8. This does not answer your question... but I just couldn't resist digging up a lineup for Termination. Lineup Live on stage: Son Kite (Digital Structures, Flying Rhino), Vibrasphere (Spiral Trax, Transient), Artax (Spiral Trax,Digital Psionics) Dj`s: Markus (Digital Structures) Faceless(Kalimax,Moonflower), Jonas (Logic Bomb,T.I.P World), Tsekas (Moonflower)

    V/A - Clairaudience

Release: Clairaudience Label: Devic Craft Cordings Year: 2002 Catalog-#: DCC001 Tracklisting: 01: Rip Van Hippy - Bite The Flower 02: Spyweirdos - Soryps 03: Loopus In Fabula - Funky Town 04: Spaz-tek - 18u 05: Weird Alchemy - Aftertouch 06: Silent Disciple - Millenium Drone 07: Exotic Matter - Anthrotrapezoid 08: The Omm Squad - Phoenix (Rip Van Hippy Remix) 09: Outolintu - 8-bit Flying Dutchman 10: Sienis - Feel the Power Of My Itchy Foot 11: Poly 61 - Out Here We Aren't This compilation gives you one odd mix of music ranging from goa trance to forest trance to breaks to utterly plain strange noisy pieces. It took me a while to actully get myself to enjoy the record, it's just all over the place and I always found it hard to keep up with the pace. Right now I'd say this is one very amazing compilation. The opening track is actually the track that insistently made me get back to the record all the time. Mr. Hippy did a great job building up a perfect mystical atmosphere accompanied by a real body moving groove, really dense stuff. Spyweirdos continues perfectly with a breaksfilled track that indeed takes off where Hippy left. Playful laidback track which indeed is hard to just skip over. Loopus version of funky town(?), funky funky, thick thick beat. Really nice track. Spaz-tek takes you somewhere completly else, very tweaked breaksfilled track that reminds me a bit of what Pound System (Psy-Harmonics) produces, psy-breaks. Very cool stuff to mix and play around with, the track contains force which makes it ideal to play loud. Weird Alchemy puts us back in a 4 by 4 beat session, very nice nighttime psychedelia track where all the elements actually works together to create one very body- and mind-moving atmosphere. Then we have the tracks 06 & 07 which contains no distinct beat rather they are based on tweaking all your gear to the breaking point, interesting listen but I wouldn't know exactly when to play these... or when to listen to them. I've yet to figure out their purpose. 08 & 09 gives us some regular tripped out and twisted music. The Outolintu track is typical finnish psy-trance weirdness, very very nice listen. Sienis continues with a track containing a bassline that literally picks you up and toss you around all over the place. The story ends with Poly 61s Out Here We Aren't, a beautiful track! I can't stop listening to it, amazing work. It's one of those tracks where you close your eyes and just indulge in the dreamy bleep-melody-sequences and the overall atmosphere containing a perfect shifty bassline. Compilation rating: 4.5/5.0 Check it out!
  11. V/A - Dream Injection. Really really nice technotrance compilation from '95. 12. Maybe you did catch the last one? I did catch the last of Son Kite - Perspective Of... 2xLP which they had (this is long time ago now) and that one was far from OK. Some utter misspressing that must've been, first of all the sound quality is not good (the mp3s I had sounded much better!!) and second; the last track on the b-side never proparly made it onto the vinyl so the track is not complete. Why do they even sell it? I bought TIP Singles 2 3xLP from saiko (also long time ago). For some reason there was no copies left so I got TIP Singles 3 3xLP instead without being notified. What is that? Sometimes they're just doing strange things. But then I guess if you get back to them about none sealed copies, damaged copies or whatever they will probably help you out. I'm too lazy to get in contact so I shouldn't actually be complaining too much.
  13. 5 dimensional mushrooms... in a second phaze... like a moon cake of limitless dimension on the verge of the third gate that takes you beyond the stars in the bombed out transformations created by the z principle worked out in the modules Polaris 1 and Polaris 2 in such a way that it goes mind to mind.
  14. Mental Bearing, as already mentioned, is one very good track. Dubby stuff with a very good dreamy melody emerging in the latter half of the track. It seems to be a bit of an extension to the Stereo Gun track which only has the dub and nothing else really, which in the end makes it a very dull track (Stereo Gun that is). I've only got the EP so I don't know how San Pedro sounds but I would still suggest that anybody who does not have this one get's it because one should not be missing out on the Mental Bearing track. Stereo Gun get's 6/10, Mental Bearing 9/10...
  15. As dieznyk says, Process has his own unique sound that needs to grow a bit. This one is also from 97 so it has this old sound to it, not very heavy beat instead it's focused on the main sounds like the distorted ones and psychedelic melody layers. Internal Horizon begins psychedelic, then starts drifting a bit soothing melody layer entering in the latter half. It also has these really sharp sounds that is tweaked throughout the whole track. IMO internal horizon is not too good, it get's a little monotone after awhile. The funktion Junktion track is the good one IMO, it's filled up with good bass and noises all over the place, in the middle there is a bit of a break beat kind of thing going on, and then a break and the beat goes back to normal, and then the best part hits you. Melody layer enters and it's just one of best melodies I've heard in awhile, then the beat goes back to it's break beat pattern ("chillin old school electro style beat" sums it up pretty good) and it just goes all psychedelic in the end. I've only heard one fairly new track from Process and that's Romboullion Plane which leaves much to be desired, IMO go for process early works which is really good. Along with the Clarity From Deep Fog track (released same year on Twisted EP 3) this EP is one of the better in my collection. EP total: 8.5/10

    Chi-ad - Liquid Neon Sky

Like Blue Penguin I don't have this EP, but I have the Liquid Neon Sky track on the Goa Head 15 compilation, and it's just damn powerful. It has this build up part in the beginning with distorted sounds, and then the second part after the break in the middle is just straight on psychedelic melodic with that definite CHI-A.D. epic feel. IMO I like Daves earlier work better, like the Myopic Utopia, Pathfinder and Anno Domini tracks. Don't get me wrong now, Liquid Neon Sky is still one very good track... 8/10. I've got the Book Of Eden track in some very lousy mp3 quality, and I'm always hesitant on reviewing stuff that is in mp3 format as it might give me faulty or impaired impression of the track as whole, but it's still seems just as powerful as the Liquid Neon Sky track. This one is just one very melodic track from beginning to end, very psychedelic, and it might just be a bit better than the Liquid Neon Sky track IMO... 9/10. I agree with Blue Penguin, this EP is very recommended.
  17. State of the art psychedelic trance! The A side is The Alkaloid Experiment, also on Sola Sonorum Compilation from Spirit Zone, a real good psy tune with a good driving bassline, strong kick, tweaked noises and fucking brilliant melody layers... most definitely a killer, 9/10 for the a-side. The b-side contains The Acid Test, also on Spirit Zone's The Singles and Rajas Stash Bag. There's also a rmx on the Heartbeat album from space tribe, though I have not heard it. Anyway, this one is also real good, lot's of space tribe fx noise rebounding, good melody sequence in the end somewhere around 6:00... trippy track indeed, 8/10 for the b-side. This EP is highly recommended.
  18. Demention (A1) is good, alright... at first it might be somewhat slow and dull, but after a while you start grasping it's complex way of behaving. It's a warm up track filled with lot's of twisted sounds and tweaked melody layers, an everchanging bassline accompanied by good rythmical percussion makes it an interesting listen. Shakey Shaker (A2) has almost the same sort of beginning as that of Demention but it turns out much more energetic, kicks of almost right away with some twisted noises and then makes a break later on. Good melody layers here as well, driving melodies, melodies that makes you wanna get up and dance, or just... listen. Shakey Shaker is probably one of my favorite tracks on this album. Horrorgram (B1) picks up some very needed speed, and after listening to some shpongle music (ex. my head feels like a frisbee) before this one I couldn't help but notice the same kind of build up right before where the melody layer kicks in. Very uplifting melody sequence I'd say, even if the name of the track contradicts it. Good party atmosphere throughout the track. Deranger (B4), this is really one very kick ass track, probably that's why I bought the singel (which also contained Gamma Goblins (Part 1), another wickedly trippy track). Another energetic track containing bubbling/tweaked melody layers and weird noises, a bit full on IMO. Gamma Goblins (Part 2) (C5) is as Part 1, quite experimental, but more psychedelically enhanced, and about 2 minutes longer. Quite good track with a very abstract and abrupt ending... but I'd still prefer Part 1. Snarling (Remix) (C6), starts promising, twisted stuff added later on... it's not one of the better tracks on the album, but it still contains some interesting sounds. Trancespotter (D7) is to me a bit too weird, it's seemingly divided into two parts (or at least S. Posford makes it sound that way), one slow in the beginning, and then the faster second part after a break in the middle. I like the faster part better, very good melody sequence added somewhere at the middle of the second part. Jiggle Of The Sphinx (D8) is not extremely good, except for the wicked celtic stuff in the latter half of the track. That's actually the only thing I listen to when I have this track up and spinning. The Lone Deranger is a very successful album IMO... packed with some very interesting and diverse tracks, this makes it possible to listen over and over again without ever really getting tired of it. 9/10

    V/A - Limitlessness

First track is from Hux Flux and Logic Bomb. Very good track actually, classical hux flux bassline mixed with lot's of crazy shit ranging from twisted noises, and scary melodies. Next track is not as crazed as 'Short Circuit' but it got the right kind of groove and party feeling, nothing very powerful though. 'Twilled' is real good. Very full on, I'd say. Nice mystical feel throughout with psychedelic melodies rebounding. 'Costa Del Goa' is interesting yet very inconsistent, it lacks an overall good flow, but still there's these interesting experimental parts. A bit of a weird track, I'd say. Number five is Miranda's original 'Gnocchi'. I remember I listened to the remix (Northern Lights) which is a little more clear, not as dark as this one. Yet this one is still very good... quite stompy IMO. Nice melodies and a nice overall feel throughout. 'Space Funk' has a good groove, nice rythms and noises. 'Time Slices (Remix)' is another great one from Hux Flux. He's literally making noises take the shape of melodies, and that's pretty f###in' good, I'd say. Last track is from Xenomorph. 'Chimera Shadow' is a rather weak track in the beginning, but it get's better in the end. Overall, Limitlessness is one very good compilation which combines a lot of energetic and twisted tracks, thus making it diverse and interesting to listen to IMO... 9/10
  20. Ominus - Tribalistic / Sunimo Artist: Ominus Title: Tribalistic / Sunimo Label: Koyote Date: 1997 Track listing: 01. Tribalistic 02. Sunimo Review: Ominus the combined force of Miranda Silvergren , Dara Lee and Marcello Bonifacii and they present us with two quite twisted tracks filled with rebounding fx sounds and tweaked melody sequences. Tribalistic is not as tribalistic as it might seem, it's rather more psychedelic, sound effects are going up and down, melody layers sweeping through with a nice dark feel... 8/10. Sunimo has a damn good opening, ambient layers assembling a good kick off for a great track. Interesting melody layers throughout, and it ends in the same way as it started. It's slower than tribalistic and thus less psychedelic, but it's still a great track... 8/10
  21. Epic-Tone - Squirty Spiral / Aerosol Artist: Epic-Tone Title: Squirty Spiral / Aerosol Label: Spiral Trax Date: 1997 Track listing: 01. Squirty Spiral 02. Aerosol Review: This is ep #4 from Spiral Trax, which presents us with two tracks from Jonas Wikström. They're a bit technoish, and quite psychedelic IMO. The Squirty track is pretty long and quite monotone which makes it a little hard to sustain interest, but there is a few places with melodic layers exploding and it's not bad at all but it's not exceedingly good either... 6/10. Aerosol is packed with abstract melody layers and a good beat. Lot's of things is happening which adds to the already psychedelic atmosphere, good track I'd say... 8.5/10
  22. Human Blue - Spiritualizer / Chronic Sphere Artist: Human Blue Title: Spiritualizer / Chronic Sphere Label: Microgram Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Spiritualizer 02. Chronic Sphere Review: I was expected either some intense psychedelic tunes or some wicked morning tunes like the Carpe Diem 12", but instead there was something totally different in this EP. Dag Wallin delivers one psycho minimal tune and it's actually damn good after a few times of replay IMO. Spiritualizer follows the usual structure Mr Blue has in his tracks, one giant build up with some breaks and an effectful climax in the end. At first it sounds annoyingly empty with few effects rebounding throughout, but after awhile it gets filled up with some groovy precussion and tribal beats... 9/10. Chronic Sphere is slower and somewhat psychill. It's not a very good IMO, some of the sounds are actually quite dull, and it stays pretty much the same throughout the whole track... 5/10
  23. Hallucinogen - Deranger / Gamma Goblins Artist: Hallucinogen Title: Deranger / Gamma Goblins Label: Twisted Date: 1996 Track listing: 01. 07'44" Deranger 02. 07'02" Gamma Goblins Review: Twisteds first release is from Hallucinogen which I just had to get, and I'm not disappointed at all. "Deranger" kicks of from the start with twisted melody layers and a frantic beat. Those who have the lone deranger album might find a slight resemblance in the celtic ending of the "Jiggle Of The Sphinx" to the melody layer in the "Deranger" track, just it is not played with flutes or whatever instrument it now was, and it's not as pronounced it's more part of the ongoing trippyness in the track. As the track progressess further it becomes more full on. Overall a pretty perfect track, 9/10... "Gamma Goblins" is of course much more experimental both in the sounds and in the melodies, as you might figure in the beginning with the chattering trolls (or whatever it now is supposed to be) and the mighty trippy melody sequence. But it ceartainly does not pack the power of the "Deranger" track, it's literally just a jumble of sound twisting, Simon tends to try to twist and tweak every sound he has in the track. But it's a good track, 8/10... EP Total: 8.5/10
  24. Miranda - Tellus Twin / Space Boy Artist: Miranda Title: Tellus Twin / Space Boy Label: MASH Date: 1998 Track listing: 01. Tellus Twin 02. Space Boy Review: These two tracks from Miranda was created with collaboration from her manager DJ Lazar. "Tellus Twin" is a bit minimal IMO, a stompy groove accompanied by various FX sounds rebounding throughout, and an emerging melody sequence in the very end. Though it's quite long, maybe about 9-10 minutes which makes it a little hard to sustain interest for long IMO. A decent track with good stomp qualities, 7/10... "Space Baby" on the other hand is quite good and the track has been featured on various compilations. Don't be fooled by the slow intro in the beginning of the track, it's not an ambient track, it's actually rather psychedelic. It's not as stompy as "Tellus Twin", instead it's got a more clear and determined feel with twisted sounds throughout. A good track indeed, 8/10... EP Total: 7.5/10
