  1. Nemo got it right. The most common place where you can hear it today is in prog - that effect you hear when the kick "stops" the pad, and then it rises again just to be "stopped" by the next kick. Sounds preety cool. It's also extremely useful in making basslines - instead of eqing it to fit with the kick, just sc-compress it and your problem is solved. Works like a magic glue.
  2. Started with Impulse Tracker, then moved to Cakewalk 9 (only MIDI through my Yamaha CS1x!) and now with Cubase SX. I might consider moving to Ableton some time in the future though.
  3. I'm not Nemo but I think I have some knowledge in music production So it goes like that - you obviously didn't use a single compressor or equalizer in the track. Getting the instrument balance (of levels) isn't done right as well. Bass is way too boomy, makes the kick (and the rest) disappear somewhere in the background. Sound selection is not best as well. Gets boring really quickly since there are only like 2-3 sounds there which hardly change, and when they do - it's done in an uninteresting way. Anyway, keep writing. You'll get the hang of it with time. Good luck!
  4. I got this: http://www.sub-machine.net/content/view/16/31/ Great stuff. Exactly what I'm looking for. Sensient - AntiFluoro kicks ass as well. Which of the hunderds of names on this topic are like this?
  5. 88fm at car - it's a cool station in israel that plays non-mainstream stuff. I like it a lot. some netradios when at army, di.fm and schizoid.in for example.

  9. Traded a bunch of old 80's vinyls with IM-BPEMPIRE yesterday at 2nd hand shop in Tel Aviv.
  10. Brilliant. Did you try to contact Twisted Records?
  11. Actually I think that remix is amazing. Brilliant production, best sound I have ever heard from a psytrance track and it works. An example of very well produced fullon. Except that cheering samples, that's just stupid.
  12. Yea, and very good tracks have been mixed on crappy gear. It doesn't justify buying that.
  13. headphones gives you a wrong picture of the music. it's not related to how good the headphones are, it's related to the fact of them being headphones. because you use headphones, it's much easier to notice individual sounds and it's very easy for the brain to seprate stuff you hear, so it sounds killer on headphones and then when you get to real speakers it's all wrong. it's very hard to notice level differences in headphones. bad for the mix! that's not all. good acoustics are very important to get the "feel" of your track. eliminating acoustics completely is bad. in short, don't mix with headphones. don't write music with headphones at all actually. sony sucks because a. they're not comfortable b. they break easily. and you get get better stuff like sennheiser or AT or beyerdynamic.
  14. Don't make music with headphones. Do it for yourself, and for your enviroment. Your music will suck and you will damage your hearing eventually. If you still decide to use headphones, DON'T BUY SONY. That's all I have to say.
  15. http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/golden-vibes-1/ http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/golden-vibes-2/ 2 free goa net compilations, you might wanna check them out. 2nd is better than first IMO.
  16. Just mix the part with the beats. That's what I do.
  17. http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/index.php this too
  18. Get your room treated acoustically. I'm talking bass traps, diffusers, etc. Just playing with the positionining of your monitors may help a bit, but it won't solve the problem. "Room calibration" software won't help as well. It tells you where your problem is, not how to solve it. http://www.ethanwiner.com/acoustics.html good luck.
  19. A bit overpriced imo, no? The price in most places is almost the price of a full retail cd, yet you only get 3 digital download tracks. Samples sound very good, but unfortunately I cannot afford buying this.
  20. dude, this track is the reason i'm listening to psytrance
