  1. So in this thread anyone is welcome who wants to say something positive about man with no Name or Martin Freeland in general. In my opinion he is one of the best artists in goa trance history. He was a true master of his style and achieved extreme heights of euphoria, love and emotion. His style is energetic, powerful and positive, with a lot of emotion in it. Some tracks have a darker nature and remind a bit of Electric Universe, others are brighter and can be compared to Astral Projection, however his melodies are even more twisted and therefore magical than those of Astral Projection. That is the reason why in my book he is the pioneer of complex melodies and compositions with positive melodies. I don´´t know any artist who created more complex and inteligent uplfiting melodies than Martin Freeland. His tracks can be the peak fo true goa trance sets or parties. Many of his remixes are even better than his original tracks, they are also an improvment of the original tracks by far. His most fammous track is Teleportation and the remix of it. Not many people however will know, that a very old remix of his has a similar sound and almost identical strings as Teleportation Remix. The unknown tracks is called Naked people full moon disco valley remix and is a remix of the track naked people by the Overlords. This tracks is a very heavy track and one of the best tracks he has ever produced. But most of his remixes are of very high quality. For example the remix of Rise. I can say that without Martin Freeland Goa Trance would not be the same; when it comes to more and more emotion, Martin Freeland delivered the ultimative dose of emotion. Big respect to this talented guy!!! I hope he will read this himself.
  2. "Good melodies that sound original but are still easy to approach." Yes, that is exactly what I wanted to say aswell, but I did not think of that phrase. However I don´t think that an artist must be too original, he only has to do what we discussed above. If you are too original to other artists than people who are looking for similar tracks from one arist, will not like tracks of the other artist. So it is not a mistake to produce similar tracks to other artists. In my opinion being original will come automatically because no artist will modulate the synths in exactly the same way another artist does, at least not unintentionallly. If an artist starts to produce music, he doesn´t have to think, I must produce something different to other artists. He can just start producing the music and it will be different to other artists because of the way he works.
  3. But it is not only about musical talent, it is about the plan of the musicia, what he wants to achieve. Many people for example will say that they want complex melodies, so nowadays everyone tries hard to create complex melodies instead of creating a harmony with comple and simple melodies. Ohter artists only pay attention on the main melody and use fill work for the rest of the song. The first songs of a well known Artist with E were like that and I did not like them a lot. Great main melodies, but the rest of the track was very repeative. People maythink that goa trance songs can be created using a formula, but they can´t. A goa trance song shoould intersting from starto to finish and not only in the middle of the song.
  4. There´s nothing that needs to be clarified. What I said here is the obvious and you believe that aswell. You can look up the biography of many artists and find out for yourself that many artists had msuical eperience before their time as goa trance artists.
  5. Has anyone here asked himself, why is it that Hallucinogen, Man with no Name, Astral Projection and other well known artists where so scucesful in the past and why some good artists of the present are so succesful? Many people say that succesful artists are unique in their sound and invent something new and innovative. But is that really true? In my opinion it is not true and it is not the innovations who help those artists being succesful at all. It is the sound of those artists. Most of the succesful artists have coherent and consistent sound in their tracks from start to finish. Be it Man with no Name, Simon Posford, Astral Projection, Hux Flux or Logic Bomb. All of those artists have consitent sound from start to finish; the tracks start interesting, are intersting in the middle and finish interesting. When you look at other artists that are not as succesful, you will notice that many tracks have a great beginning, a great peak or a great ending, but as a whole they have weak moments aswell and therefore are more inconsistent. Consistency is one key element that makes the difference between a good track and a bad track. The next key element that people often fail to see is that good artists use simple and complex melodies in combination and make the track interesting with different percussion bassline, strings and vocals. Those basslines and strings have intersting key changes that support the main melodies while some quieter variations of the main melodies are playing in the background. A less talented artist that wants to create a track quickly just to get attention will spend all his effort on the main melody and make it overly complex and stressful to listen, while not giving attention what´s going on in the background. This is the case with many newschool goa trance songs: The main melody is overly complex and stressful and the background melodies are simple with one bassline that plays from the first minute to the last minute. A good song does not have to have complex melodies at all. Instead it must be harmonious and coherent, with all melodies supporting one another. A great example of this is Hallucinogen - The Herb Garden. Simon Posford only used simple melodies for this song and yet he created an unreached masterpeace. The reason The Herb Garden sounds so good is that all musical elmenets of this song, be it melodies or percussion, fit together very well and support one another. The Herb GArden is not only an impressive melody, it is a combination of interesting percussion, well sounding main leads and well sounding background melodies. The last pianolike melody for example is very simple, but really impressive aswell. The sound he choose for that melody is impressive. But not only that, he also changed the bassline so it swings to the melody and supports it. In my opinion these two elements are the main reasons why succesful artists are succesful and are remembered while other artists come and go just like several newschool artists. In music every part of the track si very important and not only the main melody. If a newschool goa trance song has repetative melodies from start to finish and one bassline from start to finish, it will never be as interesting as an impressive harmonius Man with no Name or even Simon Posford masterpeace.
  6. And this is yet another attempt from you trying to make me look silly, but it isn´t working. I said I know 5 percent of newschool goa trance because that is what I really listened through and was not bored after the first two mintues of multilayered copy and paste melody patterns and standard synth presets. If I count every newschool track that I played it would be much more than 5 percent so your attempt to point at me is not working. You think you are the one who is able to judge who can judge the newschool scene and who isn´t? Well, if I am not able to judge and have a false view of the truth, why are there other users who complain that newschool goa trance has multilayered copy and paste melodies and too loud production and digital sounding boring synthpresets? There must be a reason to that, don´t you think? I can tel lyou, if I had the mood, I would create real oldschool goa trance that does not remind of newschool goa trance at all.
  7. Is that your responce to such a long post? This just shows that you don´t know how to respond to a critical post like mine wich absolutely describes the truth about newschool goa trance. It is good music and I like some of it, but most of it has little to do with real oldschool. Indeed, it is not important what gear you use, but how you use it. Besides that digital equipment is indeed matching the soundquality of analong equipment, but artists have to create their own soundpresets and use good effects that make the sound warmer and more analog. Because most of the main presets of digital synths ineed sound digital and cold.
  8. Ofcourse, why don´t mention another ten artists and claim that they sound oldschool. The artists you mentioned are in between newschool and oldschool but can clearly be distinquished as newschool and especially the loud and hard production is a clear sign of newschoo. Tayka-Kim however looks for real oldschool sound and I don´t know many artists with such a sound. The only artist I heart with pretty oldschool sound was xervana in 2005, with tracks like Astral Projection. Taika-Kim is better off listening to my amateur tracks which are really oldschool in sound and are not that fast and hard sounding than most newschool tracks. Now don´t get me wrong, I appreciate newschool and there are good tracks with good melodies out there, but they all have a loud mix, a very hard kickdrum and clean and glitchy sounding synthlines and percussion. Until newschool is produced that way, it will always sound like newschool even if the artist remixes a track by classical Astral or Man with no Name. @ollylovesgoa: Ethereal sounds as clean and steril as the most modern glassbuilding in Brussels, with multilayered melodies which are the key ingredient of newschool goa trance. It is a mistery to me how you distinguish Filteria as oldschoolish in sound.
  9. My current favourite is Beyond the Singularity, but I don´t know half of the tracks Chi-Ad released, so I have to check them out. What I like about Chi-Ad is the wide and clean sound with some leads that sound orchestral or classical. Those leads are unique for Chi-AD.
  10. Can anyone else pelase share his opinion about underrated Astra Lrpjectiotracks, esepcially The Feelings since that is one of the best Astral Projection tracks in my opinion. It has incredible melodies.
  11. I don´t know If I will be comong on the festival. It would be expensive and chances that I could have a good talk with psynews members are small. I don´t even knowif I would find psynews people and how they would react to me. I am not sure about the volume of the music aswell since I don´t enjoy very loud music at all and I don´t know how to dance to goa trance. There are chances that I willl be coming but I am not sure.
  12. For you that is the case, but not for everyone. If I would ask you to link me similar but better tracks than naked people remix or rise remix by Man with no Name, I th8ink you would fail. I don´t know any track that is more emotional in goa trance sound than Man with no name - Naked people remix. It is the sound of Man with no name, that is so euphoric, full of love and power, that you really want to turn up the volume and think of the best things you experienced. You know what I think about Astral Projection and MFG, but the remixes of Man with no name are probably the best goa trance tracks ever created.
  13. In this thread I want to ask how it comes that the best goa tracks are remixes from other goa tracks or even from other electronic tracks outside of the goa scene. Not every artist is succesful in that, but one artist is for sure; Martin Freeland. He created far better remixes than the original tracks, the best of which in my opinion is The Overlords - Naked peope. He has many other impressive remixes of tracks that originally aren´t that impressive. One of them is the outrageous remix of rise, originally not that impressive, he created one of the best goa trance tracks. Many other artists did the same with tracks that originally where not goa tracks and they created something that is incredible. How does that happen? Is it because the artists have template to use or because they want to be the best to remix a certain tracks? What are your thoughts on this subject?
  14. I am always amuzed by people who talk about others doing nothing and abusing the state and the bags of other people. Those people have no clue how it is to be disabled and how the chances are very weak and it is very tough to get a job or education or almost impossible. The social systems in most parts of the world make it hard for disabled people to get the same education and job opportunities as normal people do. Disabled people even with minor disabilities are in a big disadvantage and most companies have steretypical opinions towards them. I have a little eye dsiability and I have never had the same chances to get a job or an apprenticechip like normal people do. The only thing that matters in most countries is money and many people have so much of it and don´t share anything to others. If I am not given the chance to get a normal appreticechip, I am not sorry if I would abuse the social system. In this case a rich guy could easily pay my life for many years. In future I hope that the laws in some countries will force companies to take disabled people and if they don´t take them, the state should pay those disabled people out, paid by the companies which deny disabled people. And in general, the big differencies between rich and poor in this world are due to bad social systems and people who need to have a lot of money and don´t share anything to the poor. We live in a world where money is very important and it is a big shame it is like that. In a proper social system anyone would be allowed to do what he wants and get enough for that. Everyone has talents and everyone could be trained to them, without companies denying him because he has a different skin colour or a differently coloured eye to the other one.
  15. I wanted to advice people here that it is really worth to check out the solowork of passenger aswell, he is one half of MFG and some of his tracks are impressive. today I discovered the track Space bells and it was one of the best goa trance tracks I ever heart. It was very energetic, powerful and slightly aggressive with a dusky theme. The sound of that track was 100% israelic and reminded me a lot of Astral Projection. They used similar sounds on Life on Mars, Still on Mars and Cosmic Accession Remix. I will definatly check out more work from Passenger, really amazing music that represents israelic goa trance at it´s best.
  16. Anoter impressive track of MFG is Pachubatinath, this is one of their best tracks and really israelic in sound. The melody is very sunny and emotional, only the vocal is a bit annoying, but as a whole it is a very happy and energetic track with incredible mixing. The kick and bassline make you turn up the volume.
  17. I can see why you and other people don´t like MFG that much since many tracks are a bit simple, but it was menat as a joke by me. MFG is not an artist with only masterpeaces, but tere are many great tracks for my taste. You can think differently of MFG; it is fine with me. I just sometimes joke arround a little.
  18. And that is a big shame because MFG is one of the most emotional goa trance groups of all. Some of the tracks are a bit simple and some melodies are not very complex, but the sound as a whole is very characteristic for goa trance and very emotional. When I listen to Desert sun, Shape thn, The Prophecy or Beyong the Planet, I feel like loving ro being emotional. It is sweet and bright music, at least their earlier songs, which gives the same atmosphere as a hot summer day. Desert Sun, Maya Moon, Shape the Future, Beyond the Planet, Illumination, Psychic Resonator, Overload, The Prophecy, all these tracks are goa masterpeaces and masterpeaces in general. I would say that the Prophecy release from Symbiosis records is a perfect fitting collection and by far the best album by MFG.
  19. It seems every style of MFG is liked since all choises from the pool have the same amount of votes.
  20. Which style of MFG do people here like most? Is it the Prophecy tracks style, the New Kind of World style, the Project Genesis style or the The Mesage style? In my opinion the Prophecy style tracks are the best; they have the most geniune sound and the best basslines. The basslines are not as hard as on their later tracks and the music is more gentle and melodic in general. Desert sun is one of their best tracks from that area and the atmosphere is absolutely right for incredible goa trance music in my opinion. What do others think?
  21. I thought Chi-Ad was from a more exotic country based on their sound, and I always thought that Dimension 5 were Australian. I did not even think Shakta wer from the UK, the sound was always to soft iny my opinion to be from an UK artist. Shakta used a very soft sound at times which was not characteristical for the UK.
  22. It´s not only Astral and MFG that are incredible from Israel, there are other incredible artists aswell, however Astral and MFG where another class of artists indeed. I did not know that Chi-Ad, Shakta and Dimension 5 were from the UK.
  23. I ike it ofcourse, but I can´t remember exactly know how it sounded. I am just sitting infront of my computer, stopped the music playback and am only astounded and with adrenalin flowing through my body. It´s been a long time since I listened to such an emotional track like this one. This track is as euphoric as Astral Projection and spreads the same kind of emotion, definatly one of the best tracks of goa trance histroy and maybe the best Man with no Name track.
  24. So I wanted to share with you people that I found another incredible track that can be comapred to the best goa trance songs like Kabalh or LSD. It is the track The Overlords - Naked people (disco valley mix), remixed by Man with no name. This is one of the most imrpessive melodies I heart. It is very emotional and typical for goa trance, very sweet and acidic in sound. The whole track is very sweet and acidic and sounds impressive. Truly one of the best tracks I found for a long time.
