I find this quite different from most other Suntrip releases and I'm liking it quite a bit There is a definite feel of old school here with a lot of analog acid lines, but the production is top notch and fresh! Very enjoyable headphone material If someone held a fish to my head and forced me to compare this to something recentish, I would have to say "Portamento! Now please get that stinky fish out of my fucking face!" Longer fermentation is required before picking some top tracks, but so far the Mugwumps have left a definite impression

Mellow Sonic - Twisted Worlds (2015 Album)
Alek replied to mellowsonicsound's topic in Free Music Promotion
Good stuff, glad to see that the German Psy DnB scene is kicking hard The biggest issue I have with Twisted Worlds is that it comes after Coreshaper which I think is the pinnacle of this style. It might need some more times to work on me, but I think it has some huge expectations to fill. The track I like the most so far is the first, quite unique sounding -

For some reason I just couldn't get into that one, but the last one I enjoyed quite a bit

What a tasty surprise! This one totally flew under my radar, but I'm glad I managed to catch up with it. Very unique take on swampy dub.

Looks good! I've started up my own nutrition coaching business 2 years ago and here are some books and courses that have helped me improve my skills considerably: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/219949.Motivational_Interviewing(highly recommended) https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17736859-the-story-of-the-human-body https://www.edx.org/course/nutrition-health-part-1-macronutrients-wageningenx-nutr101x(mandatory knowledge on biochemistry for any nutrition coach) Learning is for life and we need more people spreading the good word of proper nutrition. Best of luck!

Creating a new track - how do you begin?
Alek replied to astralprojection's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Here are a couple more perspectives on the topic -
DT990 Pro + E10K They have a V shaped sound, heavy on the bass and treble - just the way I like it There is no better sounding option anywhere near this price that I've come across. I use this for any 'serious' listening. When my gf is in the room with me, I play through my little Audioengine A2 speakers which get the job done, but you can tell that they can't match the DT 990

VA - Trollsås [Troll N' Roll Records]
Alek replied to Troll N' Roll Records's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Some pretty good stuff here -
Shooting stuff in the Borderlands PreSequel When the weather gets crappier and I have some more time I will get into Shadowrun Hong Kong. Dragonfall was a blast of a story and atmosphere!

Well I managed to sit through (almost) an hour of this "Machiavelian Burning Man" before getting overwhelmed by the sensation that I'm wasting my fucking life A lot of people recommended it and I was curious to see what the latest greatest action film has to offer. I had no expectations about a good story, so that's not a factor. I suppose I was thinking it would be more artistic in the form of choreography, camera angles and smooth action flow. And while there are very faint glimpses of all that, things are moving so fast that you can't even put together what just happened or if it even made sense... so the result is a sensory overload through fast frames, bright explosions and graphic murder. Not my cup of tea

I feel like every track on Radio is OK or Good... but none that really makes me want to jump out of my chair after many many... many listens.

My one and only ever made track... and it's not trance, barely even psychedelic Everything else are just project files in FL which I can't even play anymore due to old versions, lost samples, etc.

mac vs pc .... ipad vs the others... which way to go? please help
Alek replied to technosomy's topic in Off Topic
I've never purchased an Apple product since I couldn't justify paying so much more for something that did the same, but looked a little better. I always figured that the cost of Apple products was down to the marketing... you pay more, but in addition to the tech gadget you also get a fashionable brand (sort of like Beats by Dre). I'm using a first generation Nexus 7 tablet for almost 3 years now without any issues. Although I don't have many apps on it, I primarily use it for reading ebooks. I installed Ubuntu last year just to see what all this Linux fuss is about... and I haven't used Windows since. I have switched to Manjaro now, and I'm quite surprised by how usable Linux is, here's my quick take on it: For personal and business use like email, web browsing, Office applications, etc. Linux does it all and very fast. Extra points for not requiring any drivers and USB connections work instantly. Plus all software is free Graphic design with GIMP and Inkscape is on par with Photoshop and Illustrator. Many professional graphic and 3d designers work under Linux exclusively, so I don't see why others couldn't. Gaming: the number of native games available is growing. For everything else you can run Windows games through Wine... but I don't like doing this personally. Driver support is also superior on Windows Music production: lots of options like LMMS, Ardour, Rewire and Bitwig (made by guys from Ableton). The only limitation here might be the VSTs, but you can still run most of them with a little work through Wine. If just starting out with Linux, I would recommend giving Ubuntu a try. It works great out of the box, BUT there is a learning curve to getting the most out of it. If you're used to working with Win/Mac, Linux will take some time getting used to and most of the learning revolves around using the terminal. -
I really like Shaolin Wooden Men on that compilation and the Rip N Eiji track ain't bad either

I've always been fond of Psy-Harmonics and their approach to breaking the rules and trying new shit... fuck it, we'll just record this track with acoustic drums, etc. But there never was anything that blew me the fuck away completely... a few tracks came close, but there was always something missing to bump it over to the next level, and thinking back what was missing was mostly coherency.

I'm just totally farming the SHIT out of the land

I've heard him play twice this year and one of his sets was before Morphic Resonance, who sounded less acidy in comparison to Imba... so that says a lot I think I would describe his sound as a swirling 303 vortex vessel that keeps the ride edgy without travelling too deep into darker territories.... I'm sure that made all the sense that was required
-
I heard of them only a little later (must've been 2003 or 2004), but immediately IFO grappled onto me and hasn't let go since I think Meter is one of the most intense tracks ever made... it's like an ongoing psychedelic onslaught!

What a pointless discussion. Time and again science has proven to us that: Progressive is boring music for introverts with an inferiority complex Darkpsy is not music, just effects that go well with drugs Full on is for superficial posers that can't handle an iota of complexity Goa is for hippies clinging onto an ex-lovers decaying corpse

That's the way I see things as well, word for word
-
Morphic Resonance, Proxeeus, Ephedra, JaraLuca, E-Mantra

Thanks! I really liked Penta back in the day, so will look out for him. I'm not much into full on, progressive, or grinding dark... so I guess most of my time will be spent on the acoustic Dragon's Nest

Anyone going? I'm giving a lecture, but I have no clue what's up with music scene. Looking at the lineup, the only artists I know are old acts from the 90s (which I look forward to hearing). But all those other names are so foreign to me.... any recommendations on what to look out for?
