  1. That's a reeeeaaaally big statement to make based on one track Altered Perception is great, and his live set is full of ripping acid energy... but putting together an album is where I think we will really show what incredible music he can make
  2. Very likely going to be there too
  3. I am so happy to hear that someone is taking a different approach to New School Goa On first listen I thought it was just OK, but after more listens I'm getting progressively more blown away. The vibe is definitely of the early/mid 90s, but the style is uniquely fresh... I can't find another artist to directly compare him to, both old or new. The big highlight is of course how much fun he has with the acid effects and leads, they're a pleasure to listen and focus on! Mechanical Menace is a great example and for me the strongest track on the album. If there is any room for improvement then it's probably in the storytelling as antic mentioned. Most tracks feel a little disjointed and don't have an overall theme, but I don't consider it a big issue since you can tune it at almost any point in a track and find something interesting to get into. I also like the concept of the album, and I imagine that this is the sort of music they jam to in R'lyeh Great stuff here Proxeeus, keep it up!
  4. Expectations were high from this compilation just by looking at the track list, but after 2 listens nothing really stands out for me. I think "In Your Mind" is the best track by Artifact303 and even though both the Nova Fractal and E-Mantra's remixes are nice, it's hard to come close to the original... so I have to wonder what's the point. Memories From Goa Madness and especially Ephedra's album were a blast! I'm sure this label has more good stuff up its sleeve
  5. I can't recall when it happened last time (it's been years), but I like every single track on this album! At first I was caught off guard, but after many many listens it's safe to conclude that this is the best album I've heard in the past 5 years The style is very unique. It calls back to the days of old X-Dream and Logic Bomb, but with a more acidic 303 Goa journey and more focus on layered melodies. Some people might dislike the fact that there are no big climaxes and epic melodies... but the melodies are differently there and always present, they're just not in your face screaming for attention. Even though it doesn't follow this standard trance formula, there is a distinct pattern: basically every track is split up into two parts of progressively increasing complexity, with a small pause to catch your breath in the middle. I don't find this to be a negative quality, the artist has found a pattern that helps him communicate his ideas and it's working very well! At this point I don't have to think too hard before reaching for a Cronomi release. They are making exactly the sort of music that suits my tastes, and I'm looking forward to hearing more
  6. Thanks man! This is really useful for learning the ins and out, much appreciated
  7. Psysalsa! After a couple of years living in South America, I must admit I am salsaed out... but it's always nice to see people giving different forms of PsyFusion a try Your Goa stuff is great! Very dreamy, melodic and with plenty of tasty acid... I can see myself enjoying this quite a bit on the dance floor in the morning. Project files would be more than welcome mate! I think that would be a great place for me to start and get an idea on where to go next Thanks!

    VA - Space Of Power

I enjoyed almost every single track on this release (and that's saying a lot for 2 CDs!), but the one absolute standout for me is Artifact303 - In Your Mind which I feel is his strongest track since the album
  9. Quite a nice surprise Maiia seems to be very productive these days with a number of quality releases coming out. The standout tracks for me here are Khetzal (showing his darker side) and Jikooha's climax is a tidal wave!
  10. Has anyone given this a try? I've been playing with LMMS on Ubuntu for a few weeks now and it's running great! Much better than expected in fact. The interface is similar to FL Studio, and perhaps even easier to get into, especially for those who are new to DAWs. So far I don't see any limitations when using it. I'm considering getting a MIDI keyboard (Axiom 49 MK2), so I just wanted to see if anyone has experience with MIDI and LMMS on Linux.
  11. I like the melody and don't find it too cheesy. However the production and sound is definitely a product of its time, and shares a lot of similarity with other trance of the mid 90s (particularly Israeli Goa). So it's hard for me to get hyped about it after listening to 5 other albums with a similar sound... but if someone used this melody with today's tools, I think that would be something
  12. Turns out most of my favourite releases so far are free downloads The World Beyond Exelization – Antinoisis JaraLuca – Perpetuum Mobile Lunar Dawn – Kolovrat Limiti – Information Is Creation
  13. It's been a couple of months and this album is still getting lots of plays Very enjoyable acid Goa!
  14. Hmmm I don't know, haven't had issues with USB 3.0 and DACs or AMPs. I would check any comments about the specific model, or ask the Head Fi community. They're very knowledgeable and helpful audiophiles, just don't get roped into the addictive spiral of continuously upgrading your audio gear... it tends to hurt the wallet
  15. Nice, those seem like excellent value headphones. Their impedance are 16 and 36 ohms, so they will work just fine with almost every DAC/AMP out there. You will probably notice significant sound quality improvement by adding a portable DAC (digital to analogue converter). Most laptops (and smartphones) have poor quality DACs since this is not what most users care about. By connecting a portable DAC via USB, you bypass the on board sound card. You can check the link I gave you and see what fits your budget. I've personally used a FiiO e7 on my laptop in the past on a similar setup and I was very happy with the quality, especially when comparing to direct laptop output. The build is also durable and will survive much punishment I would check out the latest FiiO, they consistently get great reviews, especially for the price/quality balance.
  16. What headphones are you using? I would recommend getting a portable DAC/AMP. The market has exploded for these in the past couple of years, so there are a lot of good options to choose from. Check out this buying guide. The AMP portion and power of the device will depend on the headphones you have.
  17. This compilation brings the best of the "Floating Acid" style of Goa that Suntrip specializes in Two standout tracks for me are Deep Space Introspection and Altered Perception. I've also enjoyed tracks 7, 8 and 9. The positive acid from Nebula Meltdown is really well produced and I think this is my favourite track from him... a lovely journey on board the 303 space vessel Morphic Resonance is the name I've been watching since Chromatic World, and after seeing him live I'm convinced that his razor acid interpretation of Pleiadians is what I need more of His track on the compilation definitely delivers and sets the expectations even higher for the upcoming album and remixes!
  18. It's out and it sounds great! I've even had the luck to see them play live twice in the past year, and they're as fresh as ever Here's a cool interview:
  19. I think this is off topic, but fitting
  20. Not exactly twilight, but Limiti came out with an album this year that might please those that miss the twilight years
  21. After many listens... I still can't get into it Elastic Harmonies is superb, but that's the only track I enjoy off the whole album. I like the ideas behind the melodies, but the high pitch and frequencies are really not my thing. Still, it's nice to have this diversity in the new goa scene
  22. Roughly in order of preference: Portamento - The Portal Artifact303 - Back to Space BlackStarrFinale - AURYN Merr0w - Born Underwater Ra - 9th Khetzal - Corolle Psysutra - Gamma Phoenicis Ephedra - Journey Through My Head JaraLuca - Perpetuum Mobile E-Mantra - Nemesis This was actually hard to put together not because there are too many good ones, but because it's very rare for me to love an entire album these days. For example on Filteria's albums I will usually find 2-3 tracks that I really like, but I can't really say that I enjoy very much the rest of the album. Weird
  23. I'm giving a lecture at Ozora this year, so that's for sure... the music is a little underwhelming (for my taste), but the universal vibe of love is what takes me there And then hopefully making it to Spain for Connection festival at the end of summer... the lineup there is wow... just wow Would be cool to also meet up with some Psynews goaheads
