My dad's birthday party was Bob Dylan - Desolation Row fancy dress! Pissed off I had to miss it -
What I mean is EarthShine has Solar Fields' ambient soundscapes behind the trancey beats. It really adds a journey feel to the music that I think a lot of prog lacks! I'm also very happy that Solar Fields just keeps pushing the boat & keeping the quality level so high

Juno Reactor - Pretty Girl strangely addictive
-
Nah! He looks like their fluffer

Labyrinth Gods & Monsters Bible Of Dreams Beyond the Infinite Transmission Shango I really like the newer stuff. JR has evolved nicely. Never sticking to old worn out sounds but just making whatever the hell they want Even if you don't like the style, the music is always top quality IMO
-
But it's not! The alternative is a full length album of good tunes! If one artist has no patience or not enough inspiration, there are a lot of good artists out there who do
-
But would you pay the price of a full album for those 15 minutes?
-
Who are those new guys? Anyone? Cronies? Guitarists?
-
I think that is what Earthshine sounds like. Like trance mixed with ambient. Sure each track is upbeat but they all have that special solar fields ambience that makes his music so intoxicating! I do prefer his ambient stuff but his trance is top drawer also. My favourite albums in order Extended Leaving Home EarthShine Blue Moon Station Reflective Frequencies

Recomendations for.......................
abasio replied to Pandemonium's topic in General Psytrance
Maybe try listening to samples on this label chill tribe A bit like Zero Cult but much much better. The first label might be a bit too ambient to enjoy just the samples. So don't be put off if you don't like those first. -

Managed to listen to it with some good lovin' Gonna pop on my mp3 player & listen to it on the way to work! Listening to the Juno Reactor album again right now. I'm sure most people here will hate it. Like Infected Mushroom & Younger Brother, Juno Reactor is not trying to be Psy Trance. There are lots of vocals orchestral moments, more (soft) rocky tracks but it's a quality album. Less than an hour though

Of the artists that have made a concerted effort to move away from Psy Trance. IM, YB & JR, JR is by far the most accomplished IMO. In the YB album I found the ideas old & lacking somewhat. I like this more so far. Like YB sound mixed with Labyrinth

I was doing it for ages! Now I use photobucket to link to np again -
I bought this & have given it a listen, a casual listen but enough to make a few judgments/recommendations. Those of you expecting something from the past! No chance, you know that Ben doesn't stand still or go backwards. Been there done that is the attitude I'm sure. For those expecting something new, something different, something totally unexpected but still quality I'd recommend you take a sniff when you get a chance. There are vocals & in the first two tracks I'd much rather they weren't there. The music under them though is top notch, so good I'd hope for some instrumental versions of them. The next load of tracks are more downbeat, instrumental tracks (smattering of vocals in some) & it ends in a kind of 60's rock ballad. It has nothing to do with psy-trance apart from the fact it was mistakenly put in the psy-trance section in the shop. It has a definite anime feel, from all the artwork which is really cool to the music that really feels like it need some accompanying anime movie. All topped off by the last track. Many here wont like it, if you think you might hate don't even bother! I like it though

That's much to short & why I never bought it.It looked good but I'll wait until it is at least half price for this half album. Then he should wait for inspiration to hit again. It should, the artist needs a bit of patience. If he has reached the end of his musical productivity then chances are what he made already isn't going to be anything outstanding IMO. At that point he should release the 40 minutes worth of tracks on a mini album (at half the price of a FULL album), an EP or separately on various compilations. Under no circumstances should he charge full price for half an album or release an album with half fillers (or all fillers like some artists IMO). This is of course all my opinion but it pisses me off when I pay full price for an album & it's over in about 30 minutes. Especially if the musics good as I am then desperate for more. These are all around the hour mark which for me is not too bad. Of course I want that extra 20 minutes like there should be but an hour is just enough time to lose myself in the music.

Still one of the best goa mixes I've got! Bought the original dragonfly releases & the recent Hypnotic CD&DVD release.

By the way mate, your pictures never show. Discogs doesn't allow hotlinking. You have to go through a free host like photobucket or the like. np Juno Reactor - Gods & Monsters
