What music are you listening to right now?
abasio replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
No, I've not seen then over here at all. I got all my Ultimae from France. NP Vangelis - Tears in Rain -
I can't believe I bought this 19 years ago, I still lovr this comp, brilliant trscks thoughout snd yes, Strange Creatures is still an all time favourite

I never got in to Art of Trance, and I liked regular trance just fine too. I must agree I find it really weird when people talk about the age of music. There's lots of electronic music 20+ years old that still sounds great. This isn't one of them but then it didn't sound great 20 years ago either.

This truly is a quality album. This and The Long Walk Home are two albums I keep going back to time and time again. Being able to make a 30 minute track that people don't want to end is a real skill

Aye, I saw and was a tad jealous. I've got the Flac but still, I'd like to complete my collection. Of complete collection I thought I had a complete Liquid Sound Design catalogue but didn't know they were releasing again. Looks like I'll have to buy a lot of music next month, happy birthday to me. Deer Park is one of my all time favourite tracks. Good choice for a sunset. NP Western Rebel Alliance - Fly -

Didn't you get the CD a while back? I know it's a CD-R but it's limited edition and so shouldn't be rereleased. Shame as it's the only Ultimae CD missing from my collection -

I believe they are respecting the limited edition label they gave it. NP Solar Fields - Leaving Home It's been a while since I listened to this, these days I usually opt for Until We Meet The Sky, but all his stuff is fantastic -
https://youtu.be/qeUMwt_Y81Q Miktek Elsewhere Ultimae Records Released 2013/5/30 1. False Dawn 6.26 2. Elephants 5.55 3. Incompressible Flow 5.13 4. Ominous Ride (album Edit) 5.58 5. Human Theory 6.18 6. Abismo 2.0 5.05 7. Song of the Burning Mountain 6.47 8. Purity 5.43 9. Elsewhere (The Fade Edit) 6.23 10. Magnificent Desolation 8.03 11. Nascency 6.07 12. Time or Place 5.43 While this was released 3 years ago it has done the same as many of the greatest Ultimae releases, it didnt impress me on early listens and sat around on the shelf for a year or more, then I put it on on a whim and and listening to it felt like I was listening to a totally different album. Elsehwhere is a slow, dark, melancholic piece of journey music. The tracks blend nicely into each other creating a beautiful story that I would highly recommend. 1. False Dawn A deep slow opener sets a melancholy mood, rumbling bass sounds like a far off storm slowing approaching while light melodies feel like trapped sunlight trying to get around the clouds. 2. Elephants 1A bit more urgency with a faster beat sounding like the steady movement of a caravan travelling through the desert. Half heard utterances lie behind soft ambience and subtle melodies making me feel like I am watching from a distance. 3. Incompressible Flow I love the beat on this track, there is a deliciously sharp edge to the one that starts off alone and it continues to sit nicely behind the full beat when it kicks in and adds the dark melancholic mood of the track. 4. Ominous Ride (album edit) A steady beat, strong yet subtle melody and what sounds like water quickly flowing down a an uneven surface give a feeling of moving forward. The dark ambience gives it a slight edge of dread as if its taking us somewhere out of our comfort zone. 5. Human Theory A slower track, starts out mostly ambience and feels like I am walking through a grey desolate plane, as the beat and melodies come in it builds a bigger picture, not so lonely yet still alone while surrounded by others. 6. Abismo 2.0 This starts off similar to Human Theory in feel but adds more energy to the journey, the beat remains steady, the melodies come out of each side surrounded by whoosing ambient drones, I feel grounded yet ready to fly. 7. Song of the Burning Mountain This feels like a shift in momentumn, theres more and it is more progressive. The beats more prominent and a little quicker, the ambience flows faster all around and the is an energy building behind it all as if a train travelling ever upwards. 8. Purity There is a deep strong bassline reverberating through this, a chittering in the background and beats that trip alongside themselves as they go. Tiny sparkling melodies makes me feel like sunlight reflecting on a mountain stream surrounded by invisible but audible insects. 9. Elsewhere (The fade edit) Everything feels lighter in this track, the beats, the melodies the ambience all fly a little more like were moving above the ground. The vocal sample near the end is recessed as if were hearing it through the radio thats not quite tuned right. 10. Magnificent Desolation If ever there was a track that deserved magnificient in the title it was this one. It feels at once lonely but extremely grand. Like floating above the clouds at night with nothing in between you and the heavens. The strings that flow through the track hold it all together beautifully. A stand out track on great album. 11. Nascency A great follow up to track #10, it still has that floaty feeling but much more of a descending feeling. I feel like I am slowly floating downwards through thick cloud cover on a bed of soft melody. 12. Time or Place A nice soft end to the album. It feels more grounded but still like I am floating. Imagine on top of the mountain, above patchy clouds and under a garland of starts. We have arrived. Mikteks Elsewhere is a great melancholic journey filled with deep bass, bright melodies, rushing ambient synths and a lot of texture and details. For me it is one of the best Ultimae records. Favourite tracks 2,4,5,10(!!) & 11

Moon Pool is an excellent album too, these two along with Asura - Radio Universe are the best Ultimae releases of recent years. -

Chronos has released a lot of wonderful music and a lot of it for free. This is no exception, it might not be his best work, imo the other 2 in this trilogy are better but all these tracks are worth paying for, but they are free! Anyone that is interested in quality psychill should check out Chronos' free stuff, you will be ready to buy his non-free stuff in no time

But now she's 18 right? If you're thinking about it now fair play. If you were thinking about it 8 years ago then you're a dirty pedo

Are you younger me? I feel like you are. You have very similar taste to me and a decent sized disposable income to by loads of CDs. I'm jealous of younger me but I'm more jealous of you because there's is more excellent music now. Enjoy!!!

Where do you draw the line between Ambient and beatless Psybient?
abasio replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
I don't really feel that Psybient is a real genre, the music that was labeled psybient and even psychill was generally just the ambient and chillout that psy-heads enjoyed listening to. Psychill became much more of its own genre because we enjoyed the psychedelic elements in Psy so they got put in the chillout stuff too. Also a lot of Psy artists made downtempo stuff which was mostly slowed down versions of their upbeat style. Ambient though was different, it was an established genre long before Goa came along and IMO is extremely psychedelic journey music. But it's not psybient. Drone ambient like Nimon and a lot of Ishq's recent stuff was not popular on this site 15 years ago. Stuff like Shpongle was referred to as ambient and Ishq as Beatless, which in my head-genres are completely wrong. For me Ishq - Orchid is upbeat ambient: there are obvious rhythms, a lot of percussion and melody. Beatless for me is more like Steve Roach (The magnificent void ) in which you can still hear rhythms and even percussion but it's much more subtle. Genres in your head might be different still. Ishq - Orchid was very popular with psy-heads and his later follow up albums: ...and awake & Sama were in a similar natural, melodic, rhythmical style. A lot of Matt Hillier's other projects were very different though and I doubt would have even seen the light of this site if it wasn't for the fact that his Ishq project was so well loved. But even if we loved Orchid, it isn't psybient. Nor are any of his other projects but as loved as it was it was clumped in to this genre of psybient. Later Matt stopped only using the Ishq moniker only for that certain style and now a lot of drone, glitch and other kinds of ambient are released as Ishq. They're not Psybient, Ishq never was. His newer stuff is still great in my ears but it's not Ishq. I don't know what to expect when and Ishq album is released. Now Nimon doesn't have this history therefore he's considered ambient or drone ambient. Well that's what I think anyway. TLDR: Orchid -
6 years old and watching films like that? Fucking hell, that's almost abuse itself My sister was worried the star wars movies were too adult for her 6 year old boy when her husband got him into them. I wonder what she would have thought of Hostel.

Aye, that sounds like me. I just don't want to see it. Me seeing it won't make a difference, it's not going to galvanise me into someone who could put a stop to this so turning a blind eye as it were does no harm, does not prevent any positive action and helps keep my sanity. I know sick fucks do unspeakable things to innocent children but the only thing I'd like to see is the news story that they've all been sent in a rocket to the sun. Edit: my wife loves the realistic horror shit like Saw and Hostel, I can't stand it but I've seen all if these. I prefer religious horror: hell and deamons and shit. We've never watched one of these together!

I bought the Globular one today and hope to listen to it soon. I'll vote once I have heard it a few times.

Daughter's bed time. She's upset tonight, crying any time I out her down. It's going to be a long night tonight. And here was me thinking I might have time to write something

I've never really gone far into anything on the net. I know what I don't like and I know that I won't like the shit that's out there. I didn't even watch two girls one cup, although I did see two girls one cop , nor did I see Sadam Hussein's execution. I don't want to see that sort of shit so I don't go looking for it. My wife on the other hand, she goes looking for all sort of shit she doesn't want to see, then complains about it later. Nothing pedo or necro but she did see some cockroach porn: yes ladies and gents that's a woman masturbating with a cockroach. Oh, I did once see a guy above his head up a woman's vagina, but that was in club in Spain.
