1 Buffalo (Utterly Incredible Too Long Ago Sometimes Mix) (10:37) 2 Cobalt Waterfall (Opalescent Dawn Mix) (2:29) 3 A Way Of Being Free (Are You Sitting Comfortably Very Smooth, Very Peaceful Mix) (5:33) 4 Butterfly Trilogy I (Technicolour Sun) Butterfly Trilogy II (Starship Wadada) Butterfly Trilogy III (Sine Wave) (13:27) 5 La Rosa (Live While You Live) (Messianic Dub Mix) (2:35) 6 Orpheus (Urban Primitive Dub Mix) (7:11) 7 Magnetica (The Love That Moves The Sun And Stars Mix) (8:01) 8 Dreamlab (Telescopic Dub Mix) (7:13) 9 Concrete Tourist (Chalice Dub Mix) (5:14) 10 Freaks Of Nature (Natural Dub Mix) (4:02) 11 Return Of The Native (Duir The Oak Dub) (6:08) Greg Hunter, Simon Posford & Youth ay? Liquid Sound Design? I can't be bad can it. Well it can but only to an aurally challenged Skazi fan. This album needs to be really listened to, to fully enjoy it. A mistake I made for may years was not doing just that. But when I did I was totally blown away by the complexity of it & how well all the sounds they used worked together. There are a lot of real sounds in this to. The drums & bass feel alive. 1 Buffalo (Utterly Incredible Too Long Ago Sometimes Mix) What we're gonna do right here is take you back, way back, back into time... A soft trippy intro is blown away by real big drums. These fade though into more managable & we're left with a very well layered track with nice flute & trippy sounds which isn't boring even though over 10 minutes. 2 Cobalt Waterfall (Opalescent Dawn Mix) An intermission track. It seems to whine down like flowing acid. 3 A Way Of Being Free (Are You Sitting Comfortably Very Smooth, Very Peaceful Mix) Follows well from the intermission there. It's simple but layered, no real melodies but a similar whine to the last track. Trippy Vocals 4 Butterfly Trilogy I (Technicolour Sun) Butterfly Trilogy II (Starship Wadada) Butterfly Trilogy III (Sine Wave) What a journey of a track. It starts of with some trippy twilight angel vocal, very ethereal then this leads into a middle eastern vibe. Funky baseline & evolving beats. The whole track elvolves as the trilogy continues seemlessly into a more sci fi vibe, with spacey sounds & a spaceship sample. Then it turns more natural sounding with soft flute & bird song before finally finishing with and industrial atmosphere. 5 La Rosa (Live While You Live) (Messianic Dub Mix) I don't regret a thing, a scouser (a beatle?) repeats over and over, nice transmission track 6 Orpheus (Urban Primitive Dub Mix) A softly drifting track. The beat is so distant to start & it feels likeyou are hearing tribal drums of in the distance as you travel slowly down the river towards them & as you do so they become louder & louder until you reach the tribe. 7 Magnetica (The Love That Moves The Sun And Stars Mix) A prominent beat & a strong baseline & melody that continually builds & evolves through the track while always staying recognisably the same. Towards the end they use a lot of backwards sounds & beats before bringing in (well done) electric guitar. 8 Dreamlab (Telescopic Dub Mix) A nice floaty track with quite techy sounds. Has a nice nightime atmosphere. It changes direction about 5 minutes in when it suddenly feels like the same music is falling instead of floating horizontally. 9 Concrete Tourist (Chalice Dub Mix) Do you have time for a plasma experience? Well yes, I do! This is a slow lethargic track that ambles it's way along through many layers & different sounds. Well produced to make all those sounds fit while still sounding quite minimal. 10 Freaks Of Nature (Natural Dub Mix) A heavy but chilled industrial sounding track. It's nice but it's quite short & it doesn't really do much 11 Return Of The Native (Duir The Oak Dub) A nice chilled end to a great ride. It has very real sounding beats, loads of different instruments & sounds as this track continues to change right up until the end. Quite like the whole album Definately one to buy if you are a fan of psy dub, liquid sound design or any of the guys involved. You might one to spend some time really getting to know this album though. You won't be disspointed! Favourites # 4, 6, 7 & 9

Cool! I went to see them live a few years ago. A very trippy gig! They played quite a range of music from very ambient to more dancefloor friendly to some wierd 1940's style stuff. Go see 'em

Track List 1 Hicksville (7:35) 2 Stargate Avalon (1:32) 3 Jade Garden (7:38) 4 Shwazz (8:59) 5 Fifth Level (4:36) 6 Khatmandu (7:43) 7 Mundis Imaginalus (7:50) 8 Louden (3:22) 9 Darshannon (6:10) Simon Posford & Youth. Sounds like shpongle might have sounded if there was no Raja Ram. I actually prefer this to Shpongle, it has more staying power. 1 Hicksville Like psychedelic hick music it really is. Country bumpkin guitar & all those country elements I usually hate but masterfully produced into a great psychedelic track. 2 Stargate Avalon This track is noisy. No tune, no beat just lots of noises. It's short it's filler. 3 Jade Garden I stumbled upon the philosopher's stone. I had the veil of illusion pulled back & was confronted by the many levels of energy & many realms of consciousness which are available to men. I opened a pandora box of multiple realities. The intro sets a trippy atmosphere continued by the music. It reminds me of a UFO sighting, Roswell or something. 4 Shwazz A very soft 'background if you let it' track. This is one of those tracks which can be amazing if you focus on it but if your attention is diverted then it hardly registers. It has very slow beats, cool background noises & some really nice soft guitars. 5 Fifth Level Another very soft trippy track. A lack of beats & strong slow synths give a very wide open space feeling. Towards the end it reminds me of an indian reservation mixed with x-file sci fi. 6 Khatmandu I really like the guitar in this track, a nice melody. This starts beatless but a slow lethargic beat comes in during the 2nd half of the track. 7 Mundis Imaginalus Sounds like a hick sat on the front porch looking out at his enchanted swamp & playing a song on his guitar as a tribute to his lost youth. Quite a melancholic melody, some beats come in, very big but very soft. Magic. 8 Louden Another very nice guitar melody but the track is far too short. It could be much longer, excellent music. Some violin comes intowards the end teasing you but the track then just stops. 9 Darshannon I like this track. It is quite good but I just don't know what it's doing on this album. It's a fast dancefloor track, not chilled at all like the rest of the album. Can be quite shock if you are in a nicely chilled out mind set & this suddenly comes on So all in all there is great great music here. I think though that track 2 should be omitted completely & the last track should have been released on an up tempo celtic cross album (which could have been quite cool) & they should have been replaced by tracks more in line with the feeling of the other tracks. A New Chapter In Dub Vol. 2 (The Secret Language Of Ordinary Objects) 1 The Orb - Apple Tree In My Backyard 2 Lost At Last - Reggae Raga (Youth Remix) 3 Dub Trees - Celtic Sufi (Recovered Memory Syndrome Mix) 4 Youth & Pete Lazonby - Lifesong 5 Youth - Liquid Room (Vedic Fire Mix) 6 Luna - Baraka 7 Youth - Spectral Beach (Mercury In My Veins Mix) 8 Pitch Black - Electric Earth 9 The Gentle Revolution - Stealth And Cunning 10 Dub Trees - The Golden Legend (Take Me Dancing Where The Mountains Meet The Sea Mix) 11 Dub Trees Ft. Brother Culture - Don't Wanna Lose Your Love After the disappointing 1st installment of a new chapter in dub by Youth I was a little apprehensive about this release. But Liquid Sound Design rarely disappoints & this compilation is definately not one of those rare moments. Youth has put together a fine collection of psychedelic dub here, mostly involving him. From the orb track at the start to the dub trees at the end, it just oozes class! 1 The Orb - Apple Tree In My Backyard A beautifully fantastic opener. Nice soft melodies, soft mutterings of a girl talking about her beautiful apple tree. Lovely underlying garden sounds like birds singing. 2 Lost At Last - Reggae Raga (Youth Remix) A soft baseline starts & it has a very cool beat. It has a nice reggae feel but it has some vocals which I could really do without. Changes direction a lot giving it quite a random feel. 3 Dub Trees - Celtic Sufi (Recovered Memory Syndrome Mix) A fantastic intro, some nice plucked strings (harp?) playing a beautiful melody. Nice slow synths lead into a trippy beat & baseline. Some very subtle background flute towards the end. Nice. 4 Youth & Pete Lazonby - Lifesong A simple track with a 'clicky' melody. It's nice enough but no progression. The baseline progresses slightly to stop the track from becoming boring. 5 Youth - Liquid Room (Vedic Fire Mix) A long intro with a soft baseline & a nice simple melody. The beat kicks in around 2 minutes and there are some soft whoosh like synths. Apart from that it just keeps going. A bit boring. 6 Luna - Baraka Very chilled sci fi sounds. Thumping beat decent progressive synths & melody but overall this track is a little boring. 7 Youth - Spectral Beach (Mercury In My Veins Mix) The album gets a bit darker here. It starts with a strong but soft baseline. A great melodyreally floats through this track. A fantastic atmosphere, reminds me of sitting alone on a dark beach. 8 Pitch Black - Electric Earth Another little bit darker track. This sounds kinda medieval to me, a soft guitar melody, driving baseline, cool beat. Good stuff. 9 The Gentle Revolution - Stealth And Cunning A bit darker still & slightly more upbeat. Dark melodies & synths remind me of some older flying rhino releases. Nice electric piano & muttered samples add to the atmosphere. 10 Dub Trees - The Golden Legend (Take Me Dancing Where The Mountains Meet The Sea Mix) Still sounding quite dark but in a dusky way, like the threshold of night. More upbeat than anything preceeding it and a simple 4-4 beat. Sounds to me like electric fantasy, helped by a lord of the rings sample. 11 Bonus Track Dub Trees Ft. Brother Culture - Don't Wanna Lose Your Love This bonus track is very reggae sounding. It is a very nice track but it shouldn't have been tagged on the end of the album, it would have been better near the beginning. It's very light & bouncy with a guy singing I don't wanna lose your love which kind of breaks the mood set by the last 4 atmospheric tracks. So all in all another fine release from Liquid Sound Design. It starts of great has a bit of filler (although even those tracks are nice enough but just not great) but it comes together in the end with nice dark (night time dark not evil dark psy dark) atospheric tracks. A bonus track is a bonus obviously but should have been positioned earlier on the album. Go get it!! Favourites 1,2,3,7,8,9,10
