Even something made? I always make something for my mum because the time and effort is more special than any monetary value.

I signed up for it but haven't used it yet. Not sure how to locate people or anything like that. Keep accidentally hitting buttons and something flashes up then disappears quickly so I don't know what it was I did. I think announcing it and then not allowing people to join was a stupid idea as no one was going to abandon facebook for a site that they can't actually use. By the time anyone could join, no one really cared. Some people just add everyone they ever meet ever! I have about 80 friends on FB and my news feed is still too full of random shit I don't really care about. I can't imagine what it must be like for those peeps with 1000+ friends.

Has anyone played this drinking game? Sounds like it could be very fun or very stupid, or both Drinking Golf should only be set on a nine hole course, 18 holes would mean that the majority of players would end their night in hospital, crying.Create a course: Choose 9 bars that are in the general vicinity of each other. Ensure that the busier bars are located near the end of the game. ( this is to ensure that you will not draw unwanted attention from other less inebriated drinkers) Once the course has been chosen, draw up a score sheet that takes account of each player and the score they will get in each pub. On the score sheet indicate which holes are to be water holes. (Bars in which you can’t use the toilet. The number of water holes depends entirely on how cruel you are.) Set the par for each hole. By default this should be a par three course. Set off on the course with friends in tow. In each pub buy a pint of beer, Ale or Stout each. Let person number one on the score sheet take the first tee shot. Shot are scored by how many gulps of beer it takes to finish each pint. A hole in one is when the pint it downed in one. Holes in one can also be scored if you pull a kraut Four gulps would be a bogey, five gulps would be a double bogey, two gulps would be a birdie etc etc. Each person will take their initial tee-shot in the order they are present on the score sheet After the initial shot, each person may takes a shot (gulp) as they wish. Make sure that there are independent witnesses to each shot (gulp). Mob rule decides if a pint is finished, so if in doubt keep drinking until the glass is totally empty or until your fellow drinkers start congratulating you). Guinness drinkers be wary, as often you will have a substantial head left in the glass that may hide the last dredges of the black stuff. When everyone has finished their drink, take note of the scores. Exit the pub and make your way to the next hole ( pub/bar) On designated water holes, no one may use the toilet. If they do they get penalty shots added to their score on that hole (pub/bar). Getting sick or spilling any of your pint earns you 3 and 2 penalty shots respectively. Repeat each process in all nine pubs. Enjoy! I'm thinking of trying this with some friends over new years but I'm not sure many of us could do it! This is Japan: land of the tiny livers. Does anyone know any other similar but less deadly games?

Haven't had the motivation to keep reading that book so I am on to Deliverance Lost: the latest in the Horus Heresy series. It might not be high brow literature but it keeps me enthralled which is what I want from a book

We all know that the true spirit of Christmas is love and peace and family and friends being together and making each other happy. We also know that everyone loves presents! Now that all the pain of having to buy other people presents is done and we have received presents from our loved ones, what did you give and what did you receive? I gave my GF a 3DS that she'd been fawning over the last few months, She now has a much longer commute to work and needs something to do on the train. She's been playing it non-stop since I gave it to her though and hasn't had much time for little old me I got my sister some Japanese art and her son a really really weird Japanese toddler learning toy. It'll either scare the crap out of him or he'll love it insanely. Her husband I got a mini planetarium for the bathroom but instead of stars it has DRAGON BALL Z images My dad got given 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, one of my favourtie authors, my brother got CDs (usually I give him my favourite upbeat CDs of the year). This year he got the latest Mood Deluxe album His wife got novelty chopsticks that can be used to stab the food like a fork when trying to use them pisses you off too much. My mum got something that me and the GF made. A Christmas themed candel with a little diorama inside and a message from the both of us. I bought everthing in Japan and then paid twice as much to have it shipped. I think I'll go the amazon route again next year I received the usual socks from my mum as well as some poetry and a DVD about space and wormholes and such. My sister also got us a DVD; some Danish drama that she says is really great. She also got me one of the best presents ever! Mullet Power Top Trumps! Now that is cool! My brother sent me money! Whoop! My bird got me a PS Vita. My aim to me more active has basically gone down the drain as I am thoroughly addicted to Everybody's golf She also made a wax mold of her hand at Madam Tussauds and gave me that. Sounds really creepy but is actually very cool, and bright pink! I also received Artifact303 - Back To Space & Minilogue - Animals the DVD from my Mum's sister! Both excellent indeed! From myself I got Solar Fields - Until We Meet The Sky and Krusseldorf - From Soil To Space which managed to arrive on Christmas day which was perfect timing and kind of miraculous seeing as it was Sunday and we don't have post on a Sunday here. I also ordered the new Kindle touch from Amazon, but they would send it to Japan so I sent it to a mate in the States for him to forward it on to me. That should arrive in 6 to 8 weeks so it'll be more like a Valentine's present. I drunkenly ordered a Sandisk clip from Amazon America last night too which I should receive early in 2012. So, time to be all materialistic. Tell us what you got and what you gave this year

Cheers! Some nice items there but none that I am really looking for. I have basically given up on this idea and have gone in a different direction. I am still going to purchase the Bose speakers, not only will they be portable enough to take on a plane when I travel but I they will be decent enough to use in one of the training sessions I conduct every month. I shall also take them to the beach next summer! I won't get a 1TB HDD though (the price recently shot up due to the floods in Thailand where they're made) as there doesn't seem to be any way to easily read the files off of it. Instead I have bought one of these Sandisk mp3 players which are basically designed to read the micro SD cards (up to 32gb) and I learned that they are one of the few devices that does this smoothly. I'll keep all of my music on a load of these micro SD cards. I just need to get a really fine pen to write the contents on them

Artifact303 - Back To Space Minilogue - Animals (DVD) Krusseldorf - From Soil to Space Solar Fields - Until We Meet the Sky A very good day. I'm particularly impressed that the Ultimae order came today, Christmas Day, via regular post even though Japan doesn't usually have post on a Sunday. It's a Christmas Miracle

But what did you win? Money? Women? Pride?

I don't think this will last as long as the other thread.

What music are you listening to right now?

Had a slow Christmas. No work this year but not much to do either. Went to the gym which was full of people until Santa arrived with his bus of hotties! Seriously, all at once there was just a shit tonne of beautiful women there. I think the class-that-really-works had just ended cause those ladies were toight! After that I picked my GF up from work and we went for dinner. Yaki Niku, the christmas dinner of kings. Came home and spoke to my family by skype. Well, by extraordinarily expensive mobile to mobile international call as it turns out. I bought so skype credit to call my dad's phone as he was out but he couldn't hear me (I could hear him). Now Christmas day is over here and I am looking forward to boxing day.

The first time you realized psytrance was the shit

I was into house and had a load of mix tapes of that but then one day at a party I heard The Green Nuns Of The Revolution - Optimal Creakage which is incredible when you are baked. In my attempt to find out what was playing I looked through the CDs and one image stuck in my head the next day: that was the dragonfly logo. I went out and bought Project II Trance and by the time Genetic - Trancemission came on I was hooked. Even sober I was mesmerized and could feel the music as part of me and I knew I had stumbled on something special. More than 15 years later my tastes have diverged a lot from the days when I was only listening to Goa Trance but I still regularly listen to tunes from nigh on 20 years ago and they still feel great. Maybe not the same elation I initially felt but still really amazing -

Searching for tablets that I can hook up a HDD to is also proving to be a pain in the arse! Seriously, I never thought this would be such a fucking hassel! Come on technology, pull yourself together. I think I am going to have to opt for a supremely small netbook (like the sony vaio one you can put in your pocket but not so damn expensive) and make do. Or give up altogether and shun all technology forever more
