The new chill album by Electrypnose is pretty good. Definitely a grower. Solar Fields' 2 releases this year are pretty fantastic too. Tripswitch was OK David Abrgel - Reverse Universe although a little cheesy is one of my favourites of the year.

I've been pondering this. The cover seems to me a whole lot better than his last mega-collab album. How's the music?

BPC all the way. Blue Planet is a timesless classic that I have never gotten bored of and the release on DAT records recently while not quite in the same A+++ calibre was still pretty ace! BPC have also done some sublime chillout too (but then so has Total Eclipse )

Yesterday I played at our autumn live show at Sirocco! It was a much better night than the last few with a much better turnout on a holiday weekend rather than a regular weekend. Much fun, I got there late and only had time to eat a small bite before going on. I played a 2 hour glitchy IDM/Ambient set that went down a lot better than I was expecting. I was just thinking: fuck it, I'll play what I want. It was pretty cool even if the volume on the set I recorded fluctuates a bit too much. Download my set here Tracklist 1. Yasume - Rengoku (Condensed) 2. Autechre - Clipper 3. Legiac - Faex Decimae 4. Kattoo - Place 1 5. Hellfish - Turntable Savage 6. Correctional Facilities - Rock Parrot 7. Sandspider - Levchenko 8. Kettel - Mwoeb 9. Secede - Friday Fall 10. Kattoo - Place 8 11. Kettel - Kingscourt Imp 12. Nalepa - Porcelain 13. Subheim - Away 14. Altair - Outsider Looking In 15. Electrypnose - Neverending Story 16. Solar Fields - Staring Into The Nothingness 17. Aligning Minds - Tee-child 18. Aerostatic - Continuous 19. Sgnl_fltr - Limk 20. Autechre - Garbagemx36 21. Good Rester - Dark 22. Alexander Daf - One Point One It's a pretty random set but I think it was reflective of my recent mood and was generally well received so maybe not as random as I was hoping

I always dance right at the front, I am not a foot tapper! The fact is (well not a fact as this is my taste but as my taste is a fact as I am me and I know what my taste is so I can say that as my taste it is a fact but it is not objective and shouldn't be taken as a sweeping fact that is true for everyone) that Simon's music has gone downhill lately. I haven't heard anything under the Hallucinogen Moniker since TLD (which I didn't think was that good as it was too cheesy) that didn't make me groan. Well actually that's a lie, The Herb Garden & e were both fantastic but also both ambient tracks. His Shpongle stuff is still good but nothing like it was. Younger Brother has too many lyrics and those tracks just make me cry with the wasted space on the album. So he is a has-been (IMO) and I am sure for some people he is a never-had-been. If you think the recent output from Simon is great then I am happy for you, I never think that my taste is in anyway better than other people's but for me Simon has become a big disappointment and there are many other much better artists out there I'd rather spend my time on. One thing that does impress me about Simon though is that he does seem to be doing what he wants to do. That is another reason why I think he shouldn't bow to fan pressure and make a 3rd Hallucinogen album (he was obviously joking when he said that he would and he seemed to truly believe there would not be enough interest and therefore wouldn't have to do it), if he does do it just for the fans then it won't be something he has made for himself and will be all the weaker for it. He'll be thinking "what will go down well" and as soon as an artist starts thinking that; they are lost. Of course there is a decent chance I have no idea what I am talking about, just some fried brain on the internet with his own opinions in his own little world. Feel free to love SP like a god but I'll stick with Twisted, MOTY & e thanks.

I have been burned too many times by twisted in the last 5 or so years that I too would never buy blindly from them anymore. A shame; it's nice to see people's music evolve but when it devolves into what other people have done a thousand times before (and better) it's just doesn't sit well with me. I hope they are enjoying it and make new fans as well as they lost me with the majority of Last Days of Gravity and I am sure with a new member who is a singer this will not be something I'll be buying.

Flying Rhino 1999 Not sure who was playing but it was an intense night

Well, the track in the video sounded alright. It was better than most of the tracks on last days of gravity (I only liked the first & last tracks) but I wish they would cut out the singing. As for the pledge idea, good for non-skint people who really love the project. I am not YB's biggest fan so it isn't particularly tempting for me.

I started a set a while ago with the tune from the final credits

I was thinking that ishq is popular on this site so worth a mention. There is lots of ambient ambient this year that is also worth a sniff. Nunc Stans 1 track album stands out as does The Winterhouse - Sanctuary Splurdge
