Yeah... woooaahhh sweet!

Have you met the guys from OOZE bar? They are organizing parties once in while, there were also other people organizing PsyHead Community but I don't know if they are still active. They are all very nice people, so you should seek them out (and I am talking Bangkok, I have lived there as well).

Other Swedes (other than Derango) that makes some really sublime bass-lines (examples below): http-~~-//www.youtube.c...h?v=PRAhT_RIrtc http-~~-//www.youtube.c...h?v=Ufk0eexOFX0

probably depends on who is making the music and with what approach!!? In the end the layers should fit into each other... I really don't care in which order it is done!
-
derango but really... a baseline is really hard (impossible) to judge on its own, to be truly awesome it has to fit the other layers perfectly it's the synergy that works for me

Well each to their own I really could not agree with that description... but yes everything is subjective! but analytical/technical depth...?! if that is lacking I would that would go most trance not really sure I think such a terms makes any sense really... care to explain what you mean? and on the hype note... pretty silly statement! u might just not like his style...

What music are you listening to right now?

Sandman - Nostradamus (The Prophecy Rmx) -
u can't mean that??! I personally think that album has plenty of depth (sound-wise) like Darshan - Awakening has, especially compared to many release of the same era... I really like Witchcraft

1 out of 10... lol I'm feeling some broken expectations! Are you writing in affect? I can see why you dislike the whole Hollywood sha-bang/cliche/predictiveness but I mean... if u when to see and didn't sort of expect that, you only have yourself to blame (and James Cameron... did you see Titanic??!?!?!) and I must say... even I really like and was really really impress first time I saw Innocence, the animation in Avatar is leagues beyond... they have with this movie done something with texture I haven't seen done better before (ever!). ED: True that flora is very important, but in the alien animals didn't make me feel very alienated, pretty much just dogs, horses, tigers with 6 legs instead of 4... and some dino-creatures!? Nothing ground-breaking at all!!! And the NAri-dudes.. not even close to extraterrestrial!!! In this the movie really (also) fails, to afraid of leaving the human frame of reference?! Actually now I come to think of it there was nothing that did not remind me of planet Earth, all flora was just super-sized and coloured plants, plankton and mushrooms... or jelly-fishes!

What books can you read over & over again?
Drosophila replied to abasio's topic in Books and literature!
I have to date never read a fiction book twice (only "non"-fiction), I think I simple read to little to feel like repeating any I have already read, even I really liked it! Maybe I will one day! But then again, it would probably only happen if it is a short book and/or if I felt like I was missing the point the first time around... -
+1 I love beatless ambient when I'm on the move (especially trains ). I have been listening to beatless ambient (well not continuously of course) since I was a little kid, so I might be bias, but I really can't find better music for accomplishing inner focus (or light meditative state if you want), so for me it definitely has a purpose... and this I feel is something else compared to when I listen to "beat/rhythm-music". So it is perfect for work as well, in case I need to focus. If I'm falling a sleep (while working) upbeat music might be better though

First half of this compilation is pure gold (forest "sounds").. I have to work a little bit more with the second half (maybe too fast for me?!)... but none the less a great compilation ED: Man that looks nice... I need some retail therapy as well! I will need to see if there are any decent "eletronica" music shop here in Osaka! Otherwise I will have to wait until I come see u in the capital area

Total # of goa trance CDs released?
Drosophila replied to Baron K Roolenstein's topic in General Psytrance
tribal is tribal... you know... tribal rythyms and such! -
Well... you should be happy if it was glowing! Much easier to get rid of.. I'm mean u actually would be able to see what u were slapping and with out having to turn on the light and find the bastard! I went see Avata for the 2nd time yesterday.. well had to see it in IMAX, and first time I was sitting too far from the screen to be really drawn into the 3D stuff... And it was as visually stunning (and more) than the first time, I had more "time" to really take in the details.. man it must have taken some man-hours to finish! With so much attention to detail I still don't get the flux votex, why does some thinks float (the mountains) the rest not?! Waater still falling (water falls), stone falls, people fall I mean that just seem rather stupid?! Never the less it looks nice With regard to the story... this is how it always is, it should not surprise anyone that the story of a Hollywood production of this size has to stay within a "simple" frame. It's always like this, to ensure that the majority of people (in the world) somehow can relate (and will pay to watch it). And I must say it has been done a lot worse (War of the Worlds, Titanic, AI, etc.) before! An updated Pochahontas, yes, but I think it still has meaning! We can still see human greed and relate to that (as when colonist took over the Americas), so it could have been a lot worse, like Pinocio or something?! But this doesn't mean I would not have loved a ground-breaking storyline, but it just doesn't happen, not in Hollywood! And would also have liked if the "aliens" actually acted like aliens and not just as "blue Indians" (as in native American Indians)...

Indeed an awesome track! And congrats, it is always great to solve a detective case! (even if it is by the back door) And it is total madness that this track hasn't been released on a label in a proper quality! Scandalous All the best of luck in finding this guy!!!
-
Very nice cover! I really need to buy some of their releases! I have heard some and really liked it, but I have no idea why I haven't bought any can u recommend a start package? ps. I really like the dub-tech stuff
-
no love for Trailer Park Boys?! old series but damn I like it especially after I started (not finished yet though) on watching it chronologically bubbles is the man! I also never really got into Lost... watched 1½ episode and got annoyed with the actors pretty fast... but maybe I should try it one day, but then again too many episode... too much time wasted!
-
Yeah it is pretty damn terrible... teenage sci-fi! What a waste!
-
o-m-g! is that how he looks.. well it explains the cover I guess

MakadaM discogs entry Lately I have been listening more and more to his tracks (no album yet ) and he is slowly becoming one of my favourite forest trance acts, quirky, deep, original and fun! Pure "organic" forest music! So now I'm just waiting for a debut album he has quite a few tracks on free compilations (Sanaton Records and Mental Sauce)... enjoy

Is the book always better than the movie?
Drosophila replied to abasio's topic in Books and literature!
I have read far to little fiction novels (especially ones that turned into movies) to have a really qualified say... but from the few books, cartoons I have read that that did, I (almost?) every time enjoyed the book more. Akira for example, even though the movie is great, it has a far superior manga-series as a foundation (imho). When it comes to science-fiction, the problem is even worse! And this not only due to the book vs movie ratio, but more the fact that "all" sci-fi movies are based on books that are totally out-dated when it comes to present-day sci-fi, it's simply impossible to find movies that matches the written literature even remotely! -
You should try some true modern sci-fi then Peter F. Hamilton for example... great writer, but huge books, but some great space opera! --- I am reading Alastair Reynolds - Revelation Space at the moment and so far I'm very pleased Another king of space opera!
