Music Making Storiez
Anakoluth replied to Otto Matta's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
i like to write music in the very morning. i am an early bird, and after waking up my mind is so fresh and unused. at night it's cool too, with a couple of glasses of wine, but in the morning afterwards i'm usually disenchanted by what i've made the night before. -
very minimal and very tribal sounds greatish.

1. Do you download music from the web? Any kind of music. How much? How often? i download mainly rock music; if i hear a name somewhere which sounds interesting i download it, and if i like it, i try to buy the whole band's discography. 2. Do you download specifically Psytrance releases? no. i know exactly what psytrance i like, no testing needed. i only download some old goa here and there, and mostly single tracks (classics). 3. Do you think that downloading (and any other forms of piracy) really hurt the music industry? yes. 4. Do you think that downloading (and any other forms of piracy) really hurt the Psytrance industry? yes. 5. Would you like a world that every new album/comp would be released only in the web? no. cds = silver gold, records = black gold.

i do listen to every style of psytrance, unless it's too clubby aka contains vocals, cheap hardtrance melodies, or no psychedelia. this does not leave me with a lot of music to enjoy

...and the winner is Sound Field - Sound Surfin'!

another essentail interchill would be VA-13th Moon http://www.discogs.com/release/213444 alone the umberloid track is worth the purchase. it's pretty much the best "psychill" ever so far imo

dig a few years back in time, 1998 - 2002. lots of great banging progressive psychedelic-to-the-bone trance. -Zerotonine -Segment -Mittelstandskinder Ohne Strom -SBK -Noma (first album only) -Beat Bizarre (Album "Lewd") -etc. All killa, no filla.

i put this album into the shelf after 2 weeks. the melodies are cheap and the percussions uninspired and predictable and in no way complex. it's a shallow, unemotional album. i hate saying things like "the scene used to be better" or "it's not as good as the first album", but in this case i can't help myself. the only tune that catches me is "9th", but even this one doesn't get anywhere near "Robot-O-Chan", "Mekong Delta" or OK Computer". this was probably the biggest disappointment ever. i'm just glad i've got "The Last Days Of Gravity" here now, as it prooves that benji hasn't lost it after all.
