  1. Agree. Efflorescence so far is the best chill I've heard this year. Haven't heard that many though, but it's really good.
  2. You should start a thread on him in the feedback section. I will fill in my feedback when I receive my cds then
  3. picked up Psychedelic Voodoo http://www.discogs.com/release/147339
  4. Some items traded But lutsa goodies left anyway. Trade damnit
  5. I think Skull is fastly becoming my favorite band.
  6. Total Eclipse - Delta Aquarids ... and fuck me, I love my signature
  7. A handful new entries (Astral Projection, Solar Fields, HUVA Network ...)
  8. According to the digipack efflorescence means a. a gradual process of unfolding or developing, or b. the highest point; the culmination. Quite a bold title for an album! So, is Androcell able to live up to his title. In a word, yes! While downbeat releases can have a hard time grabbing my attention for longer periods of time, Efflorescence somehow succeeds maintaining my interest. It quite simply flows right from track one and once on Tyler "Quasga" Smith's ride you wanna hear this album through to the end. With its' occasional dub inspiration I'm not quite sure what albums to compare it with, but think Ultimae possibly a little more upbeat. Highly recommended for downtempo lovers and quite possibly a contestant for downtempo album of the year.
  9. This is a type of release I am reluctant about commenting as its' success with me depends entirely on the mood & time of day. Played at the wrong hour I could find it deadboring. On the right time of day, I could find it amazing! So how to rate it? Well, most of the way this is stripped bare naked progressive trance, and something I like early in the evening. Or with a daring dj in a small dose at the height of the night. Played when you just want it simple, this could provide the ticket to the Milky Ways. In itself it does so little, so the initiative is entirely with you. That said, a full album of this is over the top for me. I get the same feeling with Skip Insect as I get with Alegria's Phonogen or Sonnenvakuum's Phonotonie. Or sweets. I can only take so much. But if you like minimal style progressive acts you'll want to hear this. If you need it more complex, check out the samples first. This ... is naked )
  10. I have tried my best to get this album under my skin since I got hold of it a year ago, but Rev excels in a type of trance that just doesn't do it for me. At least under every day circumstances. A monotone bass repeated practically unaltered back to back on all tracks, some FX to supply variety, and practically no lead melodies. At the right circumstances during a festival I might trip to a track or two here. Certainly, Rev can come across as quite sinister. But at home, at moderate levels, I really can only enjoy Rev in limited amounts. Still, I won't altogether dismiss Inverted. Like I said, the monotony does roam potential and individually the tracks have appeal. Dirty Converter, for example, manages to stay both monotonous and interesting. One hour of Rev's bass lines, however, is over the top for me. But if you want it monotonous, dark, simple, and bass line oriented in a grey area between progressive and full-on, I can't think of a much better pick than Inverted.
  11. Never is it possible to keep anything for oneself ... np: Orion - Futuristic Poetry, Avatar reissue. Damnit, I like Never heard it until I got it recently. Rox !
  12. I might as well confess up front that I have only gotten to know this album now with the release of the Avatar reissue. So what's a supposedly 1995 "goa classic" doing to unbiased ears almost 10 years after its' release? Reconfirming my passion for midnineties goa! This album represents all the things I look to goa for. All tracks oozes creativity, psychedelic madness, and an urge for story telling. Moreover, the tracks identify themselves as individual tracks. There's no simple formula here that's being adhered to. Not that there is anything wrong with formulas. They're outthere for good reasons. Borelli & Vaknin is just so packed with ideas on FP that they couldn't stick to a formula if they wanted to. Like track 2 The Source. This progresses smoothly when they decide to break it down, build up with tribal drums, add a new rhytm which is just about to go mayheem, when they decide to kick in with another beat. All logic says this shouldn't work. But it does! A-fucking-mazing!! Goa trance may never obtain mainstream popularity with the challenges it presents to the listener. But, damn, those of us who aren't afraid of challenges are in for treats after treats here. Nuff said. Almost ten years after its' release this album still entertains with a vengeance in the fast forwarding electronica world. Thank you, Avatar, for making it readily available! Now I just gotta dig deep for that original release ...
