  1. nothing Damn, I'm working on reaching that 3000 posts mark ...
  2. What? Do we need an approved reason now for visiting psynews? I thought we could come here just for the fun What am I missing ?
  3. You're SUCH a Cosmosis addict ... Not sure of the speed but Rinkadink is on the faster side. My latest flick for sure. Others may be able to help whether that falls in the category you are looking for. But it's a one man act as you want.
  4. Now I'm listening to Goa Trance - Salamander's Tempest (the Moonweed mix) http://www.discogs.com/release/91989
  5. Thanks! Any recommendations?

    X-Dream - Radio

I've been somewhat hesitant to comment this album. How do you comment THE essential album by a trance duo that has been in the business since day one? From the spooky radio sample (1:30) in opening track Radio to the frog sounds in The Frog, this is X-Dream presenting the ephihany of late nineties dark, deep, down, and dirty psytrance! And überly psychedelic with so much going on this album will guarantee countless trips to outer space trippin' on the dance floors around the world. Or at home with a pair of high quality headphones and the volume at a steady 6 o'clock. All tracks here have their own personality, but my favourite is Psychomachine. Starting with a monster of a bass from the low (!) frequencies, with some creepy FX setting in at 0:55, all hail the dj podium from 1:58 and start moving in sync. Cause you wanna trip with good people around you to get the full effect of what X-Dream are fording you to deal with here! Monster sounds, loads of different sections each with the X-Dream trademark insisting evil, all packed in flawless production, you somehow cannot help but to just obey this track. Like the sample in Telegram (7:05) so explicitely puts it: Things are moving so fast in my head that I'm starting to edit ... like a telegram. An absolute essential in any trance collection. Correction. In ANY music collection. And 15 years along these guys still make interesting music ... Rough & Rush, take a bow!
  7. "There were ... incidents involving high altitude metallic machines. Flying in formation." Call Skelly childish, but don't you just love when cool, intelligent samples are utilized in trance?! This one is taken from Normalised (0:45) and sets off this groovy, chilly baby in style! One of several highlights on this excellent album! The album opens with Datalink, a top smooth progressive rocker with a theme kicking in at 3:11, that assures you this baby will deliver all the way. And it does. Awesome opener! Pretty soon into track 2, however, you realise that Datalink was not a lucky punch. This is solid craftmanship. Well thought through, varied tracks, with loads of details. LB enters with a progressive attitude, but with many trips into psy and FX territory. They keep it simple, then add FX, then perhaps a theme or a melody. All the time with eyes on the dancefloor. Like Neighbour Of The Beast at 5:48! I'd love to see the dancefloors react to that! Built up over a long period almost full-on style when a twisted psychedelic lead enters. Rock me baby! Travelling at the speed of light? Oh no, we can travel many times faster than that! LB has a taking for Kevin Spacey samples (this one from Future Uncertain). I might have wanted a little more variety here, but that really is my only grudge against this album. Oh, and maybe ONE more blasterhit to hit the 5/5 star bar. Recommended to all fans of intelligent psy/proggy trance.
  8. Logic Bomb - Normalised (from Unlimited). Crazy about the sample. "There were ... incidents involving high altitude metallic machines. Flying in formation ..."
  9. You're not talking about Skelly dude, are you Because if you are I CAN start calling you names
  10. Melodic progressive? Well, definitely with a progressive perspective Denis Matenda is keeping matters close to core, but not afraid to go in a more melodic direction when the need calls for it. The ones I like the best here are the classic progressive compositions. Creative Destruction and You Can Run But You Can't Hide drives a dark proggy beat, slowly building the track, but never loosing my attention. On title track Energy Loader Matenda goes almost Atmos. Check out for instance the part from 3:33. This has Atmos written all over it! But not copy/paste like. Matenda has his own way of doing things and it's a great track. Another section I really like is Adverse Selection from 5:30. Why make things any harder than they need to be? Fans of progressive trance bordering minimal land will most certainly get a kick out of this, while the more melodic inspiration here and there may make this album appeal also to the psytrance oriented listener. A strong 3/5 over all, but played at the right time most of the tracks would go 5 stars.
  11. Hi Antic! Yeah, I know I am:), but is that a problem? @ nemo: would I rather loose all of my friends over the carpet shitter? Good question. I don't think you can put an equation like that, though. If I am to follow my line of thought I would tell my friends to ignore the asshole. Ignore him, man, he's just an arse. Don't waste energy trying to win a debate over him. Or see who can bash each other the most. Nobody wins. I mean, he calls you names and you react by calling him bigger names. Does that really make anybody feel good? So what if your friends are not able to do that? To ignore the person when he's being a bastard? Well, then it's a question of integrity as well. Are you to change your attitude towards the world because some of your friends cannot live up to your readiness to ignore assholes (NOT ban them)? I would say you should keep your integrity intact, yes. Certainly. And if these your friends are really your friends they would most likely come around too. Many would because the value of meeting you would outweigh the burden of ignoring that cinos ass (just saying, as an example ) It's not easy, I know. You would have to spend energy both ignoring and/or being positive constructive towards the ass and perhaps convince some friends it's the right thing to do. But is it really THAT big a task? The debate here, is it THAT big a task? And like I've said, the upsides outweigh the downsides. Yes, I am pointing towards a path of tolerance, understanding, and love. And that's a very burdenfull path sometimes. But the rewards are there and so much the bigger exactly because of the burdenness. (Besides, isn't this even some of what the psy scene tries to advocate? Or am I WAY wrong and naive here?). Anyway, that's how I see it. That's how I try to go about in my daily doings. Sometimes I fail. Hell, often. That doesn't change me from thinking it's the right and most rewarding way to go about things. Cancel the ban on cinos. Imagine how grateful that would make him! And even if he would display his thankfullness for our coming around with shitting EVERYONE, try and see what it would do to you if you just LAUGH at it !! Just laugh. Read careful or just skim all his negativity posts and laugh! If you put yourself in his place imagine all the energy his mustering to try and piss people off, and how it does NOT work if people don't bite the bait! And I mean, you really CAN just laugh when people are going ballistic with insults. The creativity some people can display! Now THAT would be real fun!
  12. Hi Nemo, So, we meet again ... The cards have been dealt ...And all that haha Well, here's a reply to you. YES! Someone shits all over your house and I'm saying forgive them? Yes! Now you're probably thinking I'm either a total idiot. How can I say such preposterous stuff? Or you might even think I'm a weak person. How can I allow someone to do that without kicking their ass? Don't I have any self respect or courage? Well, this being a debate on the net I hope it's easy to see that it's not a question of courage. I could tell any one to fuck off without the slightest worries. So why don't I? And why do I say that irl as well you should try NOT to exclude assholes? Well, I can understand that you get angry and want to get rid of them. Punish them. You will get further in life, however, by forgiving them. Just take a simple look at the upsides and downsides. If you exclude them, you may make an enemy. You get some peace, obviously, that's the entire idea. But you don't know how they are going to use that peace. I believe (and so do many learned sociologists, psychologists etc, for that matter. Frank Tannenbaum is one famous writer) this is one way of creating a negative sub environment, because all the excluded people get together in a new forum where they may develop antisocial, hostile attitudes towards society. So you get peace but at a price. And look at the upsides if you accept them despite their occasional stupidity. You grow! You learn that your value is not deflated when someone is being an ass. You may even learn to take it as a compliment and just laugh at it. Look at the amount of energy some people are willing to use trying to make you angry! It's really quite flirtatious. Wow, am I THAT important to you But when will you get your negativity cannot get to me? AND when the person realizes that, YOU will get a friend like you never had one. Don't we all know of situations where we misbehaved? And when someone without the slightest hint of bitterness dismiss it without a thought, aren't we deeply thankfull? What a grand person, is what we think (I think ) I'm not saying that whoever gets banned from psynews will go out directly and form a new neonazi party. And I understand (off course!) that you can become tired of bullshit and want to ban people. All I'm saying is that the only downside to trying to accept people as part of your circle even when they act like asses, is that it CAN cost you some energy, yes. It can be seem futile and worthless and annoying, but the ONLY price to it, really, is the one that you let yourself pay. But you can grow to become a bigger person. Eventually they will come around and you will get a true and dear friend. And you don't entertain the risk of what the excluded people might get together and decide. Off course, there's also the joker of what a ban might learn people. Yep, if it could learn people that they need to behave, it might do exactly what I'm looking for. I just think it's a mighty big risk to take. What is our biggest motivator? Punishment or rewards? I can tell you that too. Rewards! When you do something because of a fear of being punished if you don't, you will most often do only just what you need to do. When the motivator is rewards, there is no limit to what you might decide to do. To get love and respect in return. So I think throwing someone out for two weeks is a wrong thing to do. And banning someone for ever (which a year means) doesn't even give the person a chance to learn from the punishment. Or gives YOU a chance to learn from that person, for that matter. Yeah, these are my thoughts. Someone might label them naive or overly positive. But it's just a question of trying to live up to them yourself. Fuck, what other people thinks! Go about, ignore negativety, spread the word of love & compassion (God, I AM gonna kick myself in the butt after this post ), and YOUR world will become a richer place. Okay, these posts are pretty mind consuming. Don't know if I will be able to muster much energy to give a detailed reply if you have any reactions to this mail. But I hope my point comes across as well. I see where you are coming from! I understand the frustration, but like I've explained personally believe that we will all go the longest when we are able to NOT let ourselves be frustrated and teach people by ignoring their stupidity. Word. ps: Didn't even have the energy to go through this message before posting, but hope it is readable.
  13. I've said once before I'm with Serguei on this one. I still am. Excluding people from the circle they want to be a part of is not the right way to go about things. Include negative people (yes!), but let them know that no one will play with them when they are being assholes. Ignore them, when they are assholes. Yes, it is not easy, but just like they have to learn, so we have to learn how to become more accepting people. Throwing them out for a year (which basically will be forever) allowes no one to rise to the challenge. Yes, it's a mighty task, but you end up with more friends instead of foes, if you succeed at it. And they will be REAL friends because you were able to see and ignore, i.e. forgive, their stupidity. A stupidity and hostility they display because of a lack to show warmness and openness. So am I fucking Mother Teresa now No, just saying that being tolerant and ignoring stupid remarks WILL bring you the longest in your life. Not that you are not allowed to react to stupidity. You are! With constructive criticism or ignoring their stupidity. Both leaves open the channels of communication. So both can learn. Don't you meet assholes irl? Take an internet asshole as an opportunity to learn how to deal with these people. irl you can not always just ban people for a year But this topic was outdebated weeks ago, sadly, when feathers was banned. I think it's a wrong way to got about it. As Serguei so fine said it: We all need to grow up !
  14. Label: Liquid Audio Soundz Catalog#: GTN 1077.20 Country: Germany Released: 2001 Tracklisting: 1 Schattensprung (7:08) 2 Space Raiders (7:51) 3 Tiefenrausch (6:34) 4 Interferenz (7:11) 5 Neutroneninjektor (Remix) (8:40) 6 Kinderkram (5:55) 7 Zugvogel (7:12) 8 Ellegal (6:33) 9 Reborn (6:25) German minimal, industrial schizophrenic, progressive trance on the loose? These guys sure are keeping a tight ship with their repetitious and straight forward compositions. Fortunately they know what they're doing. It's what Kraftwerk might have developed into had they not stuck to their old formula. Or Atmos on a moody day. Something for both mainstage and chill-out this music is all about tranquility, relaxation, and spirituality. When German music does that best it offers the sites of Nirvana as vivid as the sites of, hmm, Challengia . Deep, mysterious, and scary, at some times, airy, blissfull, and challenging, at other times. It's something done best with uncomprehended. You need to just let into the vibe and flow. Alright, this is when it works best. Like I said, sometimes it can be challenging, but there are a couple of quite beatiful pieces here that may earn worthwhile following a long way. If you liked Alegria's "Phonogen" you need to try this, anyway. A solid 3/5 from here.
  15. Label: Tokyo Dance Catalog#: TDCD01 Country: Germany Released: Mar 2004 Tracklisting: 1 Metaphorik (7:57) 2 Time & Space (5:40) 3 Selected (7:35) 4 Wechselwirkung (7:13) 5 Sounds (6:55) 6 Smoke (6:52) 7 Planet Earth (7:42) 8 Fusionic (7:23) Another german, progressive trance release steering clear of the hype. Well, the music here certainly ain't hyping itself either! Landing in a grey area between progressive, techhouse and chill-out influences, Benjamin Halfmann is keeping a low profile on Multiplayer. Don't expect any flood of FX or melodic mayheem. This album calls for patience and willingness to go into hibernation. A willingness I'm afraid Multiplayer can't make me muster. I have to be carefull completely dismissing an album like this, though. Played at the right time at night and possibly at the chill-out stage, a couple of tracks here would probably make me move a muscle or two, but it sure has to be a sensitive dj. A full album, in any case, is WAY to pointless for me. Yep, this album has led a quiet existence, so to end one may paraphrase Morrissey "The Cemetry Gates" this album was born, then it lived, and then it died.
  16. Got my cd from Moti after little over a week Israel to Denmark. Not the fastest delivery, but VERY WELL packed and EXACTLY as promised. Apparently it was even mailed recommended. So is PsyGoatDelic. Recommended as trader/seller I mean Thanks buddy !
  17. Bluerom Released - Signs of life. hmm ... http://www.discogs.com/release/17747
  18. I've often heard psytrance arrangementwise compared to classical music. I don't know much about the classical music genre, but certainly collectors here go way WAY above your average psy collection. What I mean is that, yes, psytrance as a genre have certain characteristicas. That's how it's possible to label it as a genre different from rock, pop, or even techno (border issues aside). Still, there is lots of variety within both classical and psy. I sure think there is, even if I recognize that once in a while it may be nice to explore other genres as well. But I've put myself on a quest and for 4-5 months now basically only listened to psy at home ... and I'm still not tired of it Actually I discover new things in cds I used to loathe. So I don't know. If you get fed up, move on. If you're not fed up, dwell some more Why the fuck not ?
  19. I AM telling you to sell them. To me Goddamnit!!! Sell them. Now! T O M E E E E . S E L L T H E M T O M E E E E ! ! ! ! ! please. Pretty please. With sugar on top ?
  20. I know what you're thinking. Is this album packed with 5 or only 4 tracks introducing modulation? Well, I must admit in the heat of the modulation blitz on this album I kinda lost track myself, but considering this album was made with modulation lovers in mind AND as such will blow your head CLEAN off, you just gotta ask yourself one question: Do I like modulation? Well, do you ... punk?! Apologies for the long introduction but the heavy use of modulation (i.e. a change in pitch, typically, one note up or down) on this album calls for attention. It's an old debated topic in psytrance circles: Is it cheesy or ain't it? I find it cheesy, I'm afraid, not quite sure what bugs me the most; the fact that the artist wants to entertain me doing the exact same thing only one note different or the fact that the artist apparently doesn't have any more to offer! Not that there is anything wrong with modulation in itself, but it's a tricky path to walk. One example (of many!) where it's used splendidly is Cosmosis' track Inner Space from Contact. On Delirious it just sounds like a typical, easy way out. Anyhow, besides challenging my taste with his love for modulation, Oforia's album aint bad. Aint bad at all ) It holds much of the mid nineties goa'ish feeling I like from this period, though I prefer it even more melodic. Closing track Dew Point is a beauty, though. Also opener Maximiser, Cream, and the title track Delirious maintains a good pumping rhythm and are bound still to set the dance floors on fire. Provided the modulation issue isn't an issue! So, in conclusion. If you don't mind or even like modulation and looking for quality mid nineties goa, you need to try this. Chances are you'll love it for it's catchiness, energy, and goa'ish feeling. If you don't like modulation this album will put you to the test on 4 tracks, but there may very well be enough good tracks to go around still )
  21. Thank God for the internet, sites like discogs, and our very own psynews! Without these I never would have heard of Rinkadink, let alone given this album a chance, what with the cover having me think of some "Rabbit Techno, volume 81" obscurity the first time I saw it. Nothing could be further from the truth. I honestly can't remember when was the last time an album rocked me THIS much. And from an artist I knew almost nothing off beforehand, xcept for the Mental case comp. Thank you internet! Genrewise this is full-on, but don't let that scare you. This may have the rolling bass and bpm, but light years from your average full-on crowd these days. What Rinkadink presents is highly intelligent, musically brilliant, fun, deep, breathtaking, amazing, absolutely wicked, unforeseeable mega energized psychedelic trance. And it's all written, produced and mixed on a laptop according to the booklet. Fuck Nordlead! I wish I could list some of the amazing moments here, but these tracks needs to be heard from beginning to end. And I wish I could explain how the samples work. Usually I'm anti-funny samples in trance, but somehow Rinkadink is able to pull it of. But perhaps this album is best explained by noting that often when I listen to trance I add a rhythm, bass or lead to the music in my head. Then I always wonder how the music would've sounded with my addition. This doesn't happen here. Perhaps because it's everything I want when I listen to it. Perhaps because Rinkadink is just one step ahead of me. Whatever, I love it! A lot of fine albums in 2004 this surpasses them all! Yeah, whoever put the Duracell batteries in this rabbit did a FINE JOB !!
  22. It's no fun trying to pick up after such a listing ... Oh, well, good for X-Scream Today picked up these three in a 2nd hand store for 35 euros. Rinkadink - Rabbit from Darkside http://e.discogs.com/release/232294 It RAWKS !!! Quadra - Serotonia http://e.discogs.com/release/376166 Not big on full-on, but this is classy full-on. Besides, went to boom 2004 and saw him on the boom video. Have to put it like this cause I don't remember if I actually saw his set ... Why? It was festival for Pete's sake ... I was young and inexperienced ... I NEEDED THE MONEY !! Ha ha, ... and ... and The music is a-okay! And then finally this one (which made it all worth) X-dream - panic in paradise http://e.discogs.com/release/203355 I could have bought the x-dream for 15 euro alone, but couldn't resist buying the other ones too. Oh well, Skelly's happy
