I haven't made my mind up on this album yet. But I can say I find it VERY challenging to say the least. Anyway, I just received Wizzy Noise Cybermancy form 2000. Had no idea some of their tunes back then sounded like forest trance. Not nearly as deranged as Derango, but still ... foresty elements. Funny, I think. Maybe the step I need to be able to get on the Derango wagon. Tumult surely is popular in here ...

Wizzy Noise - Infernal Pod (from Cybermancy) Sounds like Derango found some of their inspiration here. Dark foresty trance some of it is ... ... no, wait ... and then ... -

Label: Suntrip Records Catalog#: SUNCD04 Country: Belgium Released: 10 Feb 2006 Tracklisting: 1 Unfiltered (Moon Rmx) (08:29) 2 Speech Module (09:17) 3 Reflected (10:02) 4 Mind Expansion (10:48) 5 Pyrogen (08:57) 6 Rotate To Vibrate (08:43) 7 Lunar Civilization (Filteria's Higher Rmx) (10:07) Remix - Crop Circles 8 Cloud Kingdom (Solar Fields Rmx) (10:31) Remix - Solar Fields So, long awaited album from Filteria ... Let me start of my saying that the guy still has NO breaks whatsoever !! Sky Input left me flabbergasted when I heard this in 2005 and Heliopolis picks up the stick where Sky Input left it. Intro and then from 2:12 in track 1 Unfiltered we're back on the Filteria path. Tons of layers, melodies & climaxes taking over after climaxes. The guy is loaded with ideas and apparently all are carried out For one track it's still wonderfully put together, great sounds, great melodies, and a bigger-than-life in-your-face frontal attitude I can't think of any other artist even coming close to rivaling. For a full album, however, I'm afraid it's somewhat over the top for me. I would just love if the whole thing was taken to pieces and rebuilt during a track. At least on some of the tracks. This is so much in your face, that even if it's obvious Filteria oozes talent, there were a couple of times during todays repeated listens it became almost ... dare I say it ... border cheesy? No, I retract that. Sorry! Yeah, I guess I'm very aggressive critical here, but Filteria is the only one around in this niche and I want him to give me exactly what I want, because no one else is releasing what Filteria is And since it's so obvious he has all the talent I will wait for him and the day he makes an album a little less eager to impress. For now, still, nice going !!! 7/8 tracks here have got to set any dance floor mayheem and a full concert must be absolutely awesome if the crowd really can stay atop this frontal ear attack. hmm ... one sinister remark. What's the thing in track 3 Reflected at 4:41 ... Modulation ? AAARRGH! Me not like!! But okay, let go this time. But next time ...

Heard it too. Not my type, sorry, but that could very well just be taste. Definitely some good work put into it Good luck with it !

I'd say this is an album designed for home listening when you're in the mood for smooth, quality progressive trance. Listening to it intense from one end to another, on the other hand, might be a little troublesome. Don't get me wrong. All tracks have something to say and I hear no fillers, but over the length of an album it can become a little flat. Fortunately, there are a couple of absolutely outstanding tracks too. To me far & away the best track here is track 2 Wishes. When the lead melody kicks in at 3:25 after a long and strong build-up everything turns perfect. Whow, I'm just floating away with the owly lead sound. Pure bliss! Got my senses back, Electrical inspiration, and Miscommunication are also quite enjoyable and should definitely set the dance floor sparking. Then again, I might change my mind altogether of what tracks I like if I heard this at the right time at night. The general feel here is somewhat dark, and what may come across as flat at home might come across as deep trance at night if I manage to get onboard the wagon. If you're into progressive, anyway, you wanna give this a shot. It certainly is well produced.

Etic - Late Echoes Of Goa ... can't make up my mind on this Feedback album. Some great ones, some nice onces ... but a little boring over all? Or maybe just a mood I'm not getting. Hmm ... will have to give it a proper review today. later. -
New FILTERIA: HELIOPOLIS" album released!
SkeletonMan replied to Jon Cocco's topic in General Psytrance
In any case one has to appreciate that Jannis has been able to create somewhat of a hype around his music eh Even if I am not all in love with Sky Input there was no doubt. I had to order his new album and it's already in the pipeline. And I'm pretty sure I will end up ordering his 3rd album without hearing it beforehand too. But ... if after the third album some things haven't improved I MIGHT stop ordering new Filteria stuff. In the meantime I think he's shown such a talent he deserves time to develop. Shit, this is only his 2nd album FGS. And hopefully he will develop in the direction I like. Less eager to impress is maybe the best short way I can put it. The talent is there. He just needs a good producer and 2nd opinion ... SkeletonMan to the Rescue !! and But can't wait to hear his album when it arrives snailmail tomorrow. -

In one word; WHA FUCKIN UH !!! Jeez, that's some mega impressive piece of work. THANK YOU MONI. I know I will be spending some time checking this stats and the releases. This is maybe not what you mean, but there were a couple of times during Filterias Sky Input I was laughing the 1st time I heard it simply because it was so overwhelming. The guy is relentness. It just made me laugh. He wouldn't quit!! I might add that I think it's a very good album. Certainly interesting and ... oh well, that's another thread. Using funny samples is always difficult I think. Ticon has a track "chicken shaker" where someone (don't remember whom) is saying "why you wanna borrow my chicken shaker" with the ch in chicken pronounced as "sh". If that's supposed to be funny it doesn't work for me. I dislike this song because of this "sample". If you can call it a sample. I think it's one of the guys saying the stupid thing. Or does chicken shaker mean something? Maybe I'm too stupid to get it ... ... nah, that can't be it

Label: NMC Music (Israel) Catalog#: 20154-2 Country: Israel Released: 1995 Tracklisting: 1 Vertigo (7:14) 2 Mad Horizon (7:38) 3 Amora (6:39) 4 Naxus (9:49) 5 Sweet Coming Home (7:12) 6 Sid (7:02) 7 The Key (8:29) 8 Camel (8:03) 9 Shiva (9:56) This is an interesting release. I have seen this labelled as an all time classic with the advise; if you find it, buy it! It's hard to come by, though. At least in the NMC version. With this in mind I was eager to find out what the album would do to me. Bought 10 years ago I remembered that there were at least one killer track on the album, but other than that I hadn't gotten too crazy about the rest of the album. Would it work now? The boys from Indoor presents an early version of psychedelic trance. Compared to todays full-on craze this music is way more challenging! You totally have to sink into it to get it, but if you're able to pull it off a song like Mad Harizon at 3:55 should reward your patience I am still not too crazy about it though. I think there are a few too many breaks and some of the lead melodies are too cheesy for my taste. Like track 8 Camel at 2:08. Either this is so deep and dark I am not even worthy or a good bet for a techno antheme for the Olympias! Anyway, this album all comes down to track 7 The Key. When this track kicks off at, oh well, 0:01 you know instantly that this is one of those rare tracks you spend your adulthood looking for. I played this track at a party where I dj'd, the crowd mostly being into R&B and mainstream, house when encouraged, I didn't know what to expect. It blew of the roof. Reluctant at first even with a couple of pointy fingers in my direction at 3:11 The Key won everyone over. When people say they don't like trance music I play this song for them. As hopeless as it is to pick, this could be my all time trance track. And certainly in top 10! In conclusion, my verdict 10 years ago pretty much still stands. Early psychedelic style with good build ups, strong arrangements and nice sounds. My major objection is the happy leads. If you want milestone tracks this album is a must for The Key alone though.

Man !!! That's gotta be one of the best signatures I have ever seen. Thx dude Too kool for skool. Go Batman. No, like Seraph says such one doesn't exist. But if I should name one, easy, The Magnetic Fields "Meaningless" from 69 lovesongs. Everything here is ... well ... -
Man it's funny this cd has gotten so many great reviews. Hate to be the one to sour all the positivity here. Well, it's payback. I bought the album because of your reviews ... Following is from my discogs review. Sometimes on occasions when I am really stoned I put on albums I didn't like virgin hear, just to see if I like them better when I am stoned. I just put this album on again, and this is what it's doing to me. Things don't start amazing and in the first track go from bad to worse. The worst sort of full on around. AARRGH !!! What unheard of crime have I committed to deserve this? And this have gotten rave reviews elsewhere and was the reason for me to buy it in the first place! WHY? And when guitars kick in ... Please ... LET ME OUTTA HERE ! Luckily things get better and by track 3 Closer things are almost decent (funny how the supportive bass here reminds me of Sunscreem's "Something" from 1996s splendid Change or Die album.) But no, Shit's Excession just doesn't do it for me. By track 5 I have to skip. Sorry. Yeah, I am almost as pleased as I am displeased. The album didn't hold all the things for me I was hoping. And not the all the low pointers I had feared. Bur certainly not all the high pointers I had hoped for But still there are quite some few nice full on features in here. When Da Business track 5 start to work it actually aint too bad. You know how it is then. Once it get real good you never know whether it's just full on cheez or really deep, scary and dark. This is recommended tonic for any proggy fan. Just to remember what that full on thing is about o)

Hey there man, glad you liked it. Yeah, I could hardly believe my luck myself. Actually this 2nd hand dude got hold of 2 copies in like 2-3 months so a friend of mine also got a copy. each 7 euro! ... then again, I've burnt my fingers on some other cds over the years, so I still have some way to go before break even
