the final part is absolutely beautiful, the melody and synth patch squeezing and buzzing in this euphoric rise. some of the earlier parts are a bit lame though, screams General MIDI

+ 1 for Fractal Glider, especially Parasite. excellent stuff I find Terrafractyl to be interesting in small amounts, but i get pretty bored whenever he plays. something a bit too jazzy about the compositions i saw Bamboo Forest in 2004 and they were incredible. I listened to a lot of their compilation tracks afterwards and never felt the same magic.

great list, thanks Padmapani!

pr0fane (Iboga Records) - Autumn Reflections - DJ mix
Drew05 replied to pr0fane's topic in DJ Promotion
hey Profane, have you added some voice samples to the mix? it has that trademark Profane vibe with scientific voices, maybe from the movie Pi like you did with A to Z mix? -
^ i didn't realise it was all that simple, thanks for clearing it up!

pr0fane (Iboga Records) - Autumn Reflections - DJ mix
Drew05 replied to pr0fane's topic in DJ Promotion
really solid mix, most songs are new to me...is great to catch up on Iboga's output in such a good set. thanks! -
just re-read the thread and I think Purple Sunray makes a very good point...Germany embraced electronic music sooner and more widely than most other countries, and perhaps the people's ears became more familiar with the sounds

i think this stereotype of Germans being "strict" and "orderly" is given a bit more emphasis than it deserves. nonetheless, there is definitely something responsible for this 'german' sound which we find in trance and techno. could it be more a work ethic, a fondness for well-made sounds that operate together in a cohesive system? i'd like to tie this to the (also stereotypical) german reputation for precision engineering, but i fear this is more clutching at old, dated cliches to explain something i don't understand Berlin is a major city for electronic music, but this has more to do with the large empty spaces available after unification, the relaxed atmosphere and liberal outlook of the city's people (which goes against this stereotype of strict and orderly germans). in my experience, the psy scene in Berlin is really not so large (techno and tech-house dominate the landscape here).

haha, well you can understand my confusion! thanks for the correction loving the mix, played it last 3 days at work...keeps me calm but also gives me energy. BOM!

this is fucking gorgeous. that Aril brikha song is really interesting, the title seems to be a nod to Nitzhonot?

Is the LSD Remix by doof the direction he should have gone in sound?
Drew05 replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
seems after the first album Doof was aiming for slower and more ambient vibes. It's About Time was great but much less dancefloor oriented, and these days he seems to be making singer-songwriter acoustic guitar music. I never heard much of his Vatos Locos project, so can't comment on that. my favourite work is when Doof and Posford were collaborating: Angelic Particles and Let's Turn On (the song) are some of my favourite tunes some of the debut album is a tad cheesy by today's standards, but i will always enjoy listening to it through. -
??? what is it then?
-
i saw him at Ozora 2 years ago, it was incredible. he played after Posford/Raja and just built that energy higher and higher. plus, visually he is a nutter. definitely a dance legend does he still produce music, under a different name? or just performs these vintage sets?

what is this chunk scene in NNSW? IMO NNSW has produced some great psy...thinking mainly of the zenon boys though i guess
-
mate does it matter whether i know anything about music production? the track is rubbish i am glad you enjoy it though, at least someone is
-
when i think of what Posford could be doing with his time and expertise, and then listen to what he is doing with, i become sad pretty sure at this point that "Shpongle" is a VST fed with ethno-samples, and that we've heard every element of that new track used before in an existing Shpongle track

hey buddy, check this thread http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/23460-eat-static-song-with-buttered-popcorn-riff/

in an interesting loop of web echoes, i found this page recently as i googled for the Eat Static song. I started this thread from an old account back in 05 desperate to hear the song again well, that google search which led me back here also revealed the proverbial needle i've been looking so long for: not perfect quality, but enough for me to relive the joy of hearing this the first time almost a decade ago
