  1. Something like that. Yes. I assume the "concept" of the album is that each track is like a different radio station that is played on the "radio" inside your head, like the woman says. The excerpt was probably taken from a psychologist discussing either normal brain activity and thinking, or possibly even schizophrenia.
  2. Nick - Look in the quick poll section. The average person here has way too many psytrance CDs. You've got some catching up to do, methinks.
  3. Not much of a choice you're giving us there in the quick poll, Chil. Was that Inpsyde's set of options? Shouldn't Psynews and its people have more of a say? Just a thought... EA
  4. Also, if you're a Robert Rich fan (deep, dark ambient) he's going to be here Sunday the 28th. I'm going for sure. Interested? P.
  5. Jonathan - Get your ass to this one tomorrow night (Friday, April 5) if you can: A Record Release Party! Fri 5 TRS-80 (Invisible) • K-RAD (SomeOddPilot) • PAL:NDRÖM (Outward Music/Play) Analog enthusiasts TRS-80 are back with another fine full-length, Invisible Records’ Mr. Kick Ass. For this performance, they’ll be previewing material from the release, as well as debuting synchronized visuals that will accompany the live audio hijinks. K-RAD create an amalgamation of booty-based beats from a large bas(s)e of source materials rendered unrecognizable through constant process and manipulation. Never static, the compositions do manage to flow evenly, despite the wide range of samples, loops and genre-hopping breaks that occur within. PAL:NDRÖM, the alter ego of PLAY resident DJ BOB, scatters stream-of-consciousness textures across mad hip-hop breaks creating inspired, challenging headfunk for postmodern beat junkies. He's just recently issued a solid new twelve on Outward Music, a split release with DECAPOD CLAW. (10pm; $7) I've seen TRS-80 twice and they're a blast. Real funky and innovative electronica. I can't make it tomorrow night because I'm working, otherwise I'd certainly be there. They're two keyboardists (one's a cute chick) and a drummer who backs the fat electronic breaks. Very cool. These are probably the best directions from Hyde Park: Take I-55 until its interchange with 90/94. You want 90/94 West. Follow into downtown, and once past the obvious skyline, exit at the Division St. exit. Proceed West (left turn) until Western Avenue. Turn left on Western (travelling South) until you find 1035 N. Western (three blocks). The Empty Bottle will be on the left side of the street. So basically: Division and Western. 1035 N. Western. Cool place. Per

Chong - Sorry about that. I LOVE XV's older stuff (Seitenzwack and Linse are still some of my favorite tracks). Meanwhile, I've found that some albums need to just sit on a shelf for a year or two before I can really understand them - I'll listen to it again, because I value your opinion. And I really liked Izik's album because it reminds me of when I was a toddler during the original Star Wars era (late seventies). Sounds like 'space disco' to me. It's a refreshing change amongst the muddy pool of similarity that I find the psytrance genre to be to an increasing level.

This is the sort of thing I feed on. Hehehe. Whenever an album inspires extreme reactions (sucks/awesome), it has got to have something artistically crucial to bring to the table. It's an almost no-fail system for me. Examples: 1. The Delta - Scizoeffective 2. Green House Effect - Global Warming 3. Spirallianz - Blast Food The only exception so far has been XV-Kilist's album. That one had extreme reviews, but far more bad than good. I sure didn't like it. EA
  10. Guess the troll doesn't have an official *Troll Translator* yet.
  11. Nothing like it, for sure. But a decent sound system and a certain mind is necessary. It's a "get it or you don't" sort of thing - it's either ON or it's OFF -seems to me.
  12. EP - I thought you were about to make some far-fetched analogy to the process of writing music and participating in a contest. Hehe. LOL. "This is my opinion: A contest is like a war. With that said, I don't like any of these songs." Hehehe. EA

  16. 1) Indidginus - Old Man Barramundi: Nice to see people are finally coming around to this one. Plays with the boundaries, which is good no matter how you look at it. 2) Soem Aeld - Tangy Flavour: The title might say "tangy" but this is some *schweeet* psy-ambient. EA
  17. ether - I didn't misunderstand what you wrote. I agreed with it to myself. I was just trying to be funny and satirical in my post to further your point.
  18. I say. The guy's got a small genre problem, but a large signature problem, apparently. I'm disgusted by it and attracted to it at the very same time. I think I saw visions of minor gods and dancing maidens the last time I looked at it.
  19. Bugbread - Just a quick question: If the genre reversed itself and began releasing a ton of Goa stuff, would you be more inclined to call it 'evolution?' I wouldn't. Goa has been done. The only way Goa can now participate in evolution is to revitalize itself, but with a very new sound the next time around - which probably wouldn't sound much like the original Goa anyway. Keep in mind that you as a person are evolving as well, and that it's perfectly natural to grow weary of a genre that no longer satisfies you in the way it used to. It's sure happening to me - I'm slowly but surely moving on from being completely obsessed with the Goa/Psy sound to feeling more satisfied with listening to my past collection than collecting all the new releases. At the same time I'm discovering other genres of music that are satisfying me more because they're still in that red-hot, crucial 'blossom' phase that Goa used to be in. EA
  20. Nah, I disagree. I think every genre of music should be so underground that it appeals to only one person at any given time. If a style ever became popular to more than one person, namely two people, then the style should be eliminated so that the more intelligent styles can remain dominant. And that way nobody sells out and everybody's happy. EA
  21. GMS at Red No. 5? Holy crap. That would be incredible.
  22. Yeah, I'm not the same person I was five years ago. I'm thinking of changing my name too.

    please!

Guess it really depends on what you like, but I enjoy the acts that defy categorization but also have a unique and enjoyable sound, so I would wholeheartedly suggest: 1. The Delta - Send In...Send Back 2. Green House Effect - Global Warming EA
