K-RAD create an amalgamation of booty-based beats from a large bas(s)e of source materials rendered unrecognizable through constant process and manipulation. Never static, the compositions do manage to flow evenly, despite the wide range of samples, loops and genre-hopping breaks that occur within. PAL:NDRÖM, the alter ego of PLAY resident DJ BOB, scatters stream-of-consciousness textures across mad hip-hop breaks creating inspired, challenging headfunk for postmodern beat junkies. He's just recently issued a solid new twelve on Outward Music, a split release with DECAPOD CLAW. (10pm; $7) I've seen TRS-80 twice and they're a blast. Real funky and innovative electronica. Chong - Sorry about that. I LOVE XV's older stuff (Seitenzwack and Linse are still some of my favorite tracks). Meanwhile, I've found that some albums need to just sit on a shelf for a year or two before I can really understand them - I'll listen to it again, because I value your opinion. And I really liked Izik's album because it reminds me of when I was a toddler during the original Star Wars era (late seventies). Sounds like 'space disco' to me. It's a refreshing change amongst the muddy pool of similarity that I find the psytrance genre to be to an increasing level.

This is the sort of thing I feed on. Hehehe. Whenever an album inspires extreme reactions (sucks/awesome), it has got to have something artistically crucial to bring to the table. It's an almost no-fail system for me. Examples: 1. The Delta - Scizoeffective 2. Green House Effect - Global Warming 3. Spirallianz - Blast Food The only exception so far has been XV-Kilist's album. That one had extreme reviews, but far more bad than good. I sure didn't like it. EA

Bugbread - Just a quick question: If the genre reversed itself and began releasing a ton of Goa stuff, would you be more inclined to call it 'evolution?' I wouldn't. Goa has been done. The only way Goa can now participate in evolution is to revitalize itself, but with a very new sound the next time around - which probably wouldn't sound much like the original Goa anyway. Keep in mind that you as a person are evolving as well, and that it's perfectly natural to grow weary of a genre that no longer satisfies you in the way it used to. It's sure happening to me - I'm slowly but surely moving on from being completely obsessed with the Goa/Psy sound to feeling more satisfied with listening to my past collection than collecting all the new releases. At the same time I'm discovering other genres of music that are satisfying me more because they're still in that red-hot, crucial 'blossom' phase that Goa used to be in. EA

Nah, I disagree. I think every genre of music should be so underground that it appeals to only one person at any given time. If a style ever became popular to more than one person, namely two people, then the style should be eliminated so that the more intelligent styles can remain dominant. And that way nobody sells out and everybody's happy. EA

Guess it really depends on what you like, but I enjoy the acts that defy categorization but also have a unique and enjoyable sound, so I would wholeheartedly suggest: 1. The Delta - Send In...Send Back 2. Green House Effect - Global Warming EA
