I had a realization this last weekend that the evils of this world are nothing compared to the evils of the universe as a whole. Same thing with goodness - that even the highest good on our world cannot compare to the greater good of the universe as a whole. Could be that our general perspective of good and evil is very limited here on this little ball of earth.
If there is a god, or gods, they certainly have this higher knowledge, and in order to prepare us for our eventual, though slow, foray into the universe at large, they may find it necessary to break us in. We are fragile, soft and emotionally charged beings, and are as yet unprepared for the greater scope that is our universe. And to be engaged instantly in this greater scope would be far too much for us to handle at once.
I'm sure this tragic event with the girl was balanced out, somewhere in the world, by a good event of equal proportion. But that's just my opinion. EA
