Yes! I know the track. I've listened to "1 cup butter 2 cups hexachlorocyclohexane, technical 1/2 cup cocoa * 4 eggs, beaten 2/3 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon aroclor 1254 1/4 teaspoon polychlorinated biphenyls 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup chocolate chips 1 cup finely chopped nuts Grease 9"x13" pan. Preheat oven to 350°. Over low heat, melt butter in saucepan. Blend in technical hexachlorocyclohexane and cocoa*, remove from heat. Stir in eggs. Combine flour, aroclor 1254 and polychlorinated biphenyls, stir into chocolate mixture. Stir in vanilla extract, chocolate chips and nuts. Spread in prepared pan. Bake 35 minutes, do not overbake. Cool in pan, cut into squares. Freeze well-wrapped brownies to have on hand in case of emergency chocolate craving. If this doesn't cure it, nothing will! * Could, with good result, be replaced with gamma-chlordene, for a sweeter taste." many times, and by golly if its consumption hasn't added some sensous love-handles to my temples. Although I will say that that part in the middle of "1 cup butter 2 cups hexachlorocyclohexane, technical 1/2 cup cocoa * 4 eggs, beaten 2/3 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon aroclor 1254 1/4 teaspoon polychlorinated biphenyls 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup chocolate chips 1 cup finely chopped nuts Grease 9"x13" pan. That's the one. The remix, if I'm not mistaken, is by "The Flourescent Spectre Monkey Biomechanics from the Venutian Clouds of the 11th Dimension of Hyperspatial Quasi-Leptons in Super-Evolutionary UFOs Folded in Spacetime on Acid." Thanks. EA

While we're on the subject, I'm looking for a track I heard recently but don't know who it's by. It had either a drug sample (Terence McKenna, I think) or a sample from a Hollywood movie (Matrix, I think). It might have also instead had a sample relating to some sort of supernatural or pseudo-scientific phenomenon. Can anyone help me? EA

I disagree. From what I've seen around here, almost everybody is capable of liking minimal just as long as it's unique and of high quality. People don't like minimal when it starts to sound like all the other minimal. I feel that minimal (and any ambient entries) should be good enough to stand up to the full-on stuff. If it's good, it'll get on the CD. EA

Samples and Loops - yes or no?
Otto Matta replied to a topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Reece - Seems to me one generally has three tasteful choices: 1. Go with an Amon Tobin approach and fill you songs to the brim with samples and loops, making the piece a collage of altered but stolen sounds, with a completely different intent than the original sources. (Ambitious but interesting.) 2. Use the samples and loops judiciously, only in a couple key parts of the track for highlight. (Most popular, but boring, cliche and predictable.) 3. Use none at all. (My favorite most of the time.) EA -
I've been looking for names for my two pet cacti. I'm inspired: I think, simply for my own amusement (which is obviously not hard), I'll name them Elysium and Gargamel. LMAO. EA

A case for a case? Now that's funny! How about a CD in a sleeve in a digipak in a jewel case in an iron box in a refrigerator in a truck in a grain silo? EA
-
Aren't Digipaks a little more eco-friendly than jewel cases?

Two tracks that come to mind: Hara Gobi - Holi Live (his one decent track, in my opinion) IM - Dancing with Khadafi EA

Wow, that's embarrassing in so many ways! [lmao] Especially since Superstring has not even been entered! Thanks, Mike. Getting voted for without even having a track in the contest is a sure sign of superstardom, I think. EA

I agree that D.Drum has bad sound quality. It's BAAAAAD. Bad-ass. Now, if you meant that the label has "poor" sound quality, well then I'll have to disagree. EA

I kind of like that Enya album. I've got a soft spot for her. A couple crap songs made for the radio, but the rest is nice. Older stuff is better when she was dedicating tracks to Ridley Scott and what not. The ZaLasRAMblas album is a killer masterpiece, however. Track 4, "Stick this in Your Bloody Toaster" is remarkable. I agree. A wicked track. Unfortunately I think it's unreleased (I was fortunate to get a copy from his friend in Switzerland). Up until about a few months ago you used to be able to download it from his site. But now that he's achieved some acclaim I think the site has either gotten lost in all the ruckus or was taken down. The EP with Metto is sold out at his label, Traktor, but you might want to send them an e-mail - maybe they have an extra copy floating around, or know where you can find one. http://www.schalllabor.ch/xvk/ Hope he decides to write more music like he used to, before his album. Me too. EA -
Thanks all. I got the feeling that it was pretty unique, but I wanted to ask anyway. I've also been very curious about Oforia lately, so I'll definitely look into them. (First and last albums first, right?) EA

Thanks, Soulhunter. But, what, no bad-ass link? Jeez. EA

Anyone know anything similar to Izik's Global Warming? Love that sound. Nice break from full-on without being minimal. Thanks. EA

The only thing I've been able to find is an EP by Spiralkinda and Planet BEN at Saikosounds. Not all that impressive. A little too sparse. EA

If I'm not mistaken, Ouroboros shares my birthday - Nov. 24. I'm 17 - and one eighth. Unless I'm not. Which I would be. If I were 12 years younger. EA

Hey, don't whit Mike like that! Don't make me come over there and whit you a new ashosle!

"A Major Problem in Australia" is a remix. Isn't it by Saafi Brothers? Crunchy Moles is the original Koxbox tune. EA

Yeah, it's big alright. Biggest thing yet. Delta makes me happy. EA

"It's, uh, daylight, so you might wanna put your visors down." EA

Mad - If you want to do some on-line research you might have better luck with "Macao" not "Makao." Sounds like an interesting album. EA
