Terry - All I said was that none of the groups mentioned were like ColorBox or Bypass Unit. Otherwise, there was a lot of cheese mentioned, for sure. EA

ColorBox and Bypass Unit are not cheese! But I would love some decent recommendations on this style myself. None of the stuff mentioned comes close, except for Pleiadians. Rikard - Try some UX, Ultimate Experience (Dragonfly), if you can find it. It's similar - in your face, changes all over the place. Old Total Eclipse is ColorBox divided by ten, but decent. EA

I hereby vote for a chillout forum room! Anybody with me?! EA

Aw, Kate, don't be like that. Like I said, there are exceptions to every rule. You are, however, an extreme minority here, but extremely welcome at the same time. Gather your girlfriends - we need some girls to balance out what is indeed a sausage fest around here. So are you from Ashville? My brother just scouted the town out with his girlfriend two weeks ago as a potential place to live. He liked it. No Starbuck's. What do you think? He could use an insider's advice. Welcome, Kate. Please stay. EA

I gotta agree on this one. I mean, this forum should be proof enough. What's the guy-to-girl ratio here? 99-to-1? Less? Girls like sexy music - our music is by and large NOT sexy, unless you're dancing to it, and then the girls show up. But do they obsess about it after the show's over? I doubt it. Girls obsess about other things. In fact, they're probably at their weddings.com site wondering where all the guys are. That was cynical. Sorry. The girls that I've played my music for think of it in the same way as action movies - testosterone-laden dick stuff (although one hippie-type chick I knew dug Juno Reactor's tribal stuff). They don't get it, and don't really want to, just like we're not about to rent a couple dozen romance flicks and a box of Kleenex to try and understand what's so great about romance movies. There are always exceptions, though, to every rule. EA

Is it me or does EP seem a little unhappy these days? I'm going to radiate some joy his direction... ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ((((JOY)))) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) EA

I would've been looking forward to a new Etnica had they not released Nitrox. Instead I'm looking forward to new X-Dream, Sandman and Wizzy Noise. EA

Soulhunter - I'm still waiting for a confirmation from Barnes&Noble. They're checkin' their resources - I should know soon. But I hugely appreciate your willingness to raid your dad's collection for me. How old is your dad? My dad is 68 and he listens to stuff from the forties (I inherited no musical taste from him, except a love for music). Meanwhile, I was wondering if you'd heard the new System 7, and if so, what you thought of it. Hope the Vacuumbada found you safe and sound. EA

By the way, Soulhunter, have you heard the album? What do you think?
-
You're the best, Soulhunter. Thanks. EA

Anyone heard the new System 7 yet? They were one of my first leads to trance, but in my opinion they slacked on their last couple albums. Was hoping they'd come out with a better album. Thanks. EA

Moondancer's been here the whole damn time. His name's "adrenachrome." EA

Unfortunately, there's no one else that I've discovered with that BOC sound. Later Biosphere (Substrata and Cirque) has the mood but not the beat. Lots of acts have the beat, but not the mood. Plaid, like Bomble says, is relatively close, but still a ways off. Try their new one, Double Figure. And, of course, look out for the new BOC album in mid-February. Also, if you haven't done so, pick up the latest EP called A Beautiful Place out in the Country - 4 very beautiful tracks. EA

There's a very nice piano tune by Star Sounds Orchestra called Western Moon, if I recall. It's light, but fast with some psy flourishes. EA

Pete Namlook and Geir Jenssen - In Heaven

Pleiadians - Alcyone: About 3 or 4 minutes into it when the whole track explodes into vicious stereo and bass. Spirallianz - One Way Ltd.: About 5 to 6 minutes into it when everything comes back in after the silence. Holy shnikeys. EA

Lifeform - I've got the JVC FS-8000. It's a micro system (check it out: http://www.goelectro.com/minisystem/pages/...iJVCFS8000.htm), as opposed to the MX-J700 which is a completely funked-out mini system (or is it a boombox?). I use the speakers that came with it for surround speakers for my main system in my living room, and hooked up some larger ones that I had laying around to the JVC. Too bad the ceiling between me and my upstairs neighbor's bedroom is so thin, otherwise I'd be cranking this thing all day all night - the sound is really incredible - rib shaking - when turned up. EA

Not really - you can adjust the level of the subwoofer separately even if it does. And I know you were joking about the minimal thing, but I find that a subwoofer enhances all types of music, not just super bass oriented electronic music. When I first plugged the thing in it was like I had never heard music before (kinda like in springtime when the thaw is over and all the ladies start wearing less clothes and you feel like you've never seen a woman before).
-
Whatever you decide to do, you might want to invest a little cash in at least a cheap sub-woofer. I got my first one a couple months ago - it came with the JVC micro-system I got for $300US (this little system cranks big time) - and it makes ALL the difference. Which means you could keep the speakers, but you'd have to invest in a receiver or amp that has a sub-woofer input. Highly recommend it if you can afford it. EA

helium, you lucky bastard. That would be the kickinest first show, wouldn't it? He he. Bastard. EA

Indidginus has some of the sexiest, funkiest basslines I've ever heard. EA

Mike - Don't listen to them! Just keep them in their little plastic wrappers and hug them, or spread them around on your bed and lay among them, or take a bubble bath with them. That way you'll always have that pleasant, and totally obsessed, feeling of new having new albums! EA

If you can't get it to work I can try to explain...
