Track 5, "Buddy," from Plaid's Rest Proof Clockwork is either 5/4 or 10/8. They'll occasionally mess with their time signatures. EA

Honesly, IM comes to mind first. How about Roll Us a Giant or Noisemaker? The samples in these completely ruined otherwise decent music for me. It's silly and just kinda childish in my opinion. Lots of this sort of thing in IM, which is why they're probably not one of my favorites. Oh well. Also, Star Sounds Orchestra must have the worst samples of all time. Completely destroys the music for me. Their songs that have no samples are actually quite good. EA

Didn't the new Eat Static (In the Nude) have a bunch of breaks on it?

I really liked Cybermancy (I like the powerful tech sound), but I and others would say it's a little repetetive (use of same sounds from song to song, not repetetive in a "minimal" way), but I would personally wait for their upcoming release. If you like that one, then you might want to get the first one. EA

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if a couple were taken from scores of some sort. On the same lines, does anyone know from where the sample of the female ship computer in Standby was taken? One of the greatest samples ever. EA

Saikosounds has it.

Tarsis - Melt Up, down, up, down. (Ignore the first track.) More minimal tracks than full-on, but good nonetheless. Genetic - Motion Picture (maybe?)

You have edible files? That taste like fruit? Sweet! Why so mad at them? Just eat them.

Don't tell me you had banana love with Tapper!(?) Come on! Shnikeys.

Yeah, I wonder what those mushrooms would have to say. I must admit she's got a nice smile.

Hey helium. All I mean is that essentially from day one these guys have been redefining themselves and creating fresh, powerful music that continues to evolve and break brand new ground at every step. From an artistic standpoint this is reason enough for me to like them - merely out of principle. Meanwhile, I really like the music, which is a bonus. Anyone that can evolve successfully in their own direction forward while maintaing a semblance of accessibility has my vote. That doesn't mean, by the way, that I think the new stuff is any *better* than the old stuff - just different and increasingly interesting. EA

To each his own, I guess. I personally like newness, and I enjoy the aural sculpture these guys are creating. It's more than just fun and games (i.e. Hallucinogen), now it's art. EA

You're not alone. Psy and other types of music seep into every aspect of my life and have become a substantial part of my identity. EA

I've listened closely to the "guitar" in As a Child... and I'm almost positive it's synth-generated. It's pretty obvious in the remix. Probably a saw wave with overdrive. Not that anyone will ever read this. EA

I disagree, helium. The style that these guys are doing is completely unique from other psy styles like Goa and "minimal," though I admit they probably have more in common with the latter. Meanwhile, no one else has been able to achieve the raw power of these bands (which requires a decent listening system to appreciate), which again is something new and fresh, with a lot of potential for the future. Compare the sound in Urban Alien and Radio to, say, One Way Ltd. or Pop (speaking generally of the X-Dream/Spirallianz projects) and you'll notice some huge evolution. The new Delta is a continuation of that evolution, and I fully expect the new X-Dream to be evolved as well. If it's not, then I'll eat my shorts, but I'm optimistic. EA

I bought Supermindway a few months back expecting, well, something, and getting something completely different. In fact, I don't know exactly how to access it. Is Supermindway typical of SWM's music? I consider the CD one of the dozen or so that I've got sitting like wines in a cellar, aging to enjoy at a later time. EA

Mike D - This time it's free. Next time bring your friends. P.S. Stay away from the XV Kilist album. It's likely to swing you right back to where you started from. EA

Yeah, sounds like it might be a customs thing. And I know how INCREDIBLY frustrating it can get to wait too long to receive something, especially when there's no communication between yourself and the company, despite your best efforts. However, both Saikosounds and Psyshop deliver to the Midwest, US in less than 2 weeks. I agree, too, that Saikosounds' website is tiresome to wade through, but you really can't beat those prices or that selection from my experience. EA

Well, if you're looking for that hard Wizzy Noise type sound and want a good album from 2001, I highly recommend The Delta's Send In...Send Back. Huge album. EA

I bet the Orb is an awful lot like jazz for me - for the most part awful on CD, but amazing live. I bet you'll enjoy it. Extremely wacked out electronica, in a sort of fuzzy, dreamy, adventurous and experimental sort of way. But I'm biased. Lots of people love Orb, on CD or not - they're somehow very accessible to The Masses. Actually, I may be completely off-base, but since you may have heard the Dub Trees album - that's kinda what Orb sounds like. Anyway, have fun! EA

Tom - I guess you've never listened to In the Mix. He he he. EA

Your first question is kinda weird, Andrew. I think that's why you're not getting much of a response. The definition of accurate is as follows: "Free from error; exact; precise." Which means, if you're looking for tracks with an "accurate" quality, I'm sure you'll have a million different answers, because it seems to come down to taste. If I were to pick a couple psy artists that I feel create "accurate" music, I would say Shakta and Spirallianz (any track) off the top of my head. Their music is incredibly calculated and almost entirely "free from error." I would be willing to guess that a lot of people would pick more minimalistic sounds to fit the term, due to the precision of that music, which tends to make the music somewhat dry, with little room for "error." How's that? EA
