  1. So there were threads that were really malicious that were hidden? If so, is that poster a suspect regarding the trojan? I'm still getting the trojan attempts at work, by the way, using IE.
  2. Tech Talk and Spiritual/Cultural are open again. Hooray!
  3. Yeah, that dude was a shithead from the beginning. Pardon my French. Please tell me he's not from California like Bruce and Jacob were.
  4. The people in charge are clearly pissed off, and N-E-M-O (I'm spelling it so he doesn't know we're talking about him*) is on a rampage, so post with that in mind. Meanwhile, it's funny to me to see the new dynamic. People are posting in General who normally don't post there, which is interesting. * Just kidding, Nemo.
  5. I reported it in this thread on the 12th. 12 days ago. Very close to two weeks. Anyway, good luck cleaning the site, mars.
  6. There's a trojan embedded in the site somehow, and has been there for a couple of weeks now. People who are using IE to access the site are getting smacked around. It's still there, as I found earlier at work today. Seems there's some suspicion that a person connected with the site is responsible, whereas others think it's a bot. I don't know whether off-topic is closed for a month for safety or for punishment.
  7. I think of a few of the Hypnotic releases from the late 90s like Colorbox, and . And then Koxbox's earlier stuff. And a lot of Astral Projection.
  8. Speaking of Vangelis, La Mort du Loup from L'Apocalypse des Animaux is also pretty sad.
  9. Totally agree. Although not so much sad as sentimental/melancholic to my brain. I don't like 95% of Aphex Twin, but Rhubarb and Alberto Balsalm get to me. I honestly don't know any music that comes off as literally sad, stuff that makes me want to cry without smiling at the same time. Górecki's Third Symphony ("Symphony of Sorrowful Songs") comes closest, especially the first movement, the Lento. Electronically, it's definitely Arovane's Thaem Nue (wistful like Rhubarb).
  10. I don't have experience in that department, but have you done a search for "Fruity Loops Sidechain Compression" in YouTube or Google? They often have decent tutorials there. Also you might get more advice if you ask your question in Music Making rather than Promotion. Stuff gets buried here pretty quickly. May the Schwartz be with you.
  11. Hey Mackayah, have you heard Particle or Sound Tribe Sector 9?
  12. I've personally been enjoying Le Saboteur's work a lot. It has distinct IDM influences.
  13. Sure, man. What you need is a free host site, which there are plenty of. YouSendIt, MegaUpload, Sendspace, etc. Upload the track to that site, copy the link to the upload that the site provides, then post it here as a link using the "Insert Link" button to the right of the smilies. Easy.
  14. Definitely a good idea. I think we should include electronica/IDM as well. Alternative electronic.
  15. Psynews is trying to set up us the bomb. Might be infected. It's trying to get me to download a virus software, pop-up and everything.
  16. Very cool stuff, for sure. I suggest you contact Baba Zula (babazula@babazula.com) and ask for suggestions. Also, on their homepage, in their links, they link to Turkish music. Maybe there's something there you'd like.
  17. How do we know which inhabitant we are?
  18. Live Turkish music is fantastic, especially the faster stuff made for dancing. I used to listen (and dance) to it a lot six or seven years ago. I don't know any artists though, sorry. The track you posted is 9/4. Never heard that one before that I can remember.
  19. I actually make it a point to go on vacation without music so that I can get some perspective on it. It can get painful, but it's sooooooo nice coming back to it, like it's the first time you've heard it. Everything's just so much more dynamic, and you feel the buzz and click of it. "Oh yeah! That's why I like this music."
  20. Around an hour a day, usually. Then some days empty, some days full.
  21. +1 I liked the genuinely old school nature of the track, and was impressed how it didn't fall into the traps of the newer stuff. I like how you're able to manipulate the listener with ebbs, flows and layering of melodies and rhythms, as well as the subtle background sound effects. It's not doing anything new, but it's doing the old very well. People would've talked about this ten years ago, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing (depends on your motivations). If my own personal taste lacked anything, it would be primary melodies here and there on top of what I thought were secondary, textural melodies, but that's just me. Also, the modulation up and down gets predictable. Nice track.
  22. I love it. Completely cool. Amazing that you're kicking these out so quickly while managing to capture something interesting, even vital.
