  1. My opinion: - Your track is interesting to me. Very raw and therefore distinctive, although somewhat lacking in depth and nuance. - The progression and sounds in the track are interesting. - You need to learn a little more about production from books, websites, etc., to make your sounds and atmosphere pop a little more. They're a bit flat and homogeneous at the moment. - While you're learning, don't lose personal touch with that raw, distinctive expression. That's what makes good music. ("Learn the rules so you know how to break them.") - Post your tracks in Music Promo instead of here, where more people are listening.
  2. Yeah, Cubase is great if you like bi-polar girlfriends, because that's what it is. I love my bi-polar girlfriend!
  3. Yeah, Billy. Totally awesome. Really. Have you thought about maybe putting a bird or squirrel or something on one of the branches in the same style? Directly to the right of the window might be a good place. You know, the "owner" of the tree.
  4. Yes, it's true. It's like a steady I.V. of guilt, abetting these opportunists. Met a great lawyer tonight, though. Very rare. Not a Jew. Also very rare.
  5. Nah, they're all the same. I work at a law firm, I should know.
  6. Bought it yesterday, after stupidfatugly tipped me off to the MySpace PayPal option. Expensive for the US, but I'm positive it's worth it. Thanks, Christer.
  7. That was supposed to say "infinite" back there. Must have dyxelia.
  8. Yeah, man, surprisingly cool. Except for the vocal samples. You obviously have the touch. Keep it up! This is stuff I'd listen to with money.
  9. 1kb is quite a lot of detail for such a dizzyingly remarkable avatar. I understand. :drama:
  10. It was one of my first Goa albums. I liked a couple tracks, but other albums made it sound much worse as time went on.
  11. Did ECT ever make an album of some kind? I heard one of their tracks way back and really enjoyed its intensity. Oh, and Four Carry Nuts should be mentioned, shouldn't it? It would also be nice if they had an album. Slide Psychaos and Ubar Tmar for complete psychosis
  12. Thanks, Billy. I really appreciate it. Just one more track, which is taking a while, and some major touching up in general, and it'll be done. Bought a field recorder recently, and am hoping to get some good material for the final track on a road trip this coming week. Meanwhile, I'm losing patience waiting for your latest masterwork, the one that's going to blow minds like Scanners. It really is uncomfortable waiting for it.
  13. Glitch is hard to define. To me it's music by machines, and the sound of those machines' errors, be they quiet and subtle or loud and noisy. It can also be represented visually, like some of the stuff at this site: beflix.com, although the guy has gotten increasingly involved in creating glitch art than capturing screens of real glitches. It's cool either way, I think, although I have a fascination with the anthropomorphized idea of a computer's brain misfiring like an emotion, and seeing what it looks like. Also, I was talking about the whole album called Frame, but the track is great. I had a discussion some years ago with the artist, Dan Abrams, who told me that although people call his music "glitch", he prefers the term "microsound". So yeah, the definition is a bit ambiguous.
  14. Thank you for that wonderful compliment, GGT. That makes me really happy. :posford: Another month and a half and I should be done with my EP before I get it mastered. After that, who knows...
  15. Yeah, pretty much. If you're into some really mellow, ambient versions of glitch (I personally think Fennesz is on the noisy side), you may enjoy Shuttle358 (Frame is a classic) and Tim Hecker. The Mille Plateaux label has a ton of interesting things in this general area.
  16. I used to own and listen to Endless Summer. I like his music but find the noise part extraneous. It's like he makes pretty songs then adds the noise later. I'm sure he's fun to see live, though. For a similar vibe, you might enjoy The Flashbulb. Very talented dude who knows how to mangle a . And maybe you've heard some of Four Tet's stuff.
  17. That was nicely put. I suppose there are various arguments one could make regarding the subject. The person complaining that he paid for techno and didn't get it still has a valid point, especially if techno was advertised. Beyond that, the rainbow/PLUR thing doesn't sit too well with the majority of people in the psychedelic/electronic scene in general, although it may have when the article was written, so that's a dangerous argument to end with. Ultimately I think the article is aiming at a very small minority of people who might "get it". "It" being, as you say, Basilisk, general open-mindedness, which is going to have a large population of detractors. But good for them for sticking to their guns and being genuine.
  18. I don't really see it as a problem. The genre is broad enough so that people with varying tastes can feel free to play, evolve and enjoy different aspects of it. I started with the more abstract stuff and have mellowed to the melodic stuff. Funckarma and Casino Versus Japan I consider a nice balance between melodic and abstract, and enjoy their music quite a bit, as opposed to, say, Venetian Snares, which I find is on a highly abstract level, but could be considered psychedelic to some.
