  1. Wicked, Billy. I'm glad you like it. The "wah-ki-cha" sound was actually derived from bongos - a lesson in how writing music, at least to me, is just facilitating what the music wants to be. And yeah, man, we have a lot in common, musically. We should be on the same label. And hopefully this long-ish fade-out is more to your liking. The name is from a description of karma I ran across a couple years back, about how the universe can be viewed as a chandelier, about how light travels through it, reflects, refracts, and ultimately comes back to the light source. I initially wanted to call it "Indra's Net", but I discovered Shakta had already claimed that one. I really should have named it Android Fashion Show, because that's what I was thinking much of the time. Maybe someone can do a video of that someday. Thanks, Daniƫl! I had help from some visiting Cydonians. Thanks, man. Very nice compliments (except that "tripy" essentially means "fishy") Eno, huh? Now that's a compliment. Thanks very much everyone. Your comments mean a lot to me.
  2. As in Uppsala, Sweden's Schlabbaduerst Rekkords. The name is derived from German. Recently defunct, to my great sorrow.
  3. Thanks seraph! Yeah, I'm hoping some good mastering will make these things sparkle a little. , actually. I'm glad you liked it and that it hit the right spot in your weekend.
  4. Thanks, fluff! I actually have that sound going off and on throughout the track. I suspect I need to make the treble a bit crisper maybe. I've been tempted to compress a bunch of the highs but not the lows, which goes against what I've been taught (the religion as I perceive it, simplistically, is to compress the lows and pan the highs), but maybe it'll work. By the way, I listened to your latest track a week or two ago and liked it, but I'm going to have to listen to it a couple more times to give you good feedback. I appreciate the input.
  5. Fuck yeah. Awesome. That's the response I was hoping for (not that bad stuff isn't helpful). Thanks, Ormion. I've actually made it a New Year's resolution to release an EP this year. How I do that, I don't know exactly, but that's the goal. If labels don't want it I'll do it independently. Should be fun!
  6. New track. Hoping you can bob to it, and maybe feel something. I'm pretty sure, like always, it'll need editing, but I was hoping to get some feedback before I really fine tune it. It's always helpful. Keep in mind that my intent was to keep things raw and simple/stylized, but not so raw that it sounds like a bad recording. It's a reaction against the newer music that's been coming out loud as hell and, to tell the truth, plastic and metal. Whereas I wouldn't mind my stuff sounding a little more like wood and marble and glass and a little bit of fire and maybe some hot 70s chicks on a runway (maybe I'm getting old). So let me know how far off I am, and if you think, after a listen or two, that it needs more compression and clarity. And of course whatever else you feel like adding. Always appreciated. 7. Well, so now I gotta listen to that darned thing, yo... E1: Yeah, man, when that flute comes in it takes me to the Close Encounters theme. Doo-doo-doo-doo-dooooooooooooooo.
  8. I use my trusty ol' Korg 01/Wfd. She's been with me since '94, exclusively. Pretty much the only stuff I can do is with the bender. I'm sure I'll go nuts when I get my first real controller. I don't foresee that day, though.
  9. I'm TOTALLY with you, bro. Every word. Great, GREAT album, from when things were more innocent somehow. And 10,000 Miles is soooooooo cool, my most-listened-to track on the album. I like the "guitar" part, too. Beginning-to-end cool, that album. The first time I heard it I hated it, imagine that.
  10. Been listening a lot to Sounds from the Ground's newest album (2006), High Rising. Really is a stroke of genuine goodness. If Bluetech is your thing, do yourself a big favor and get it. It's that Waveform Records thick, dub, chill style. Less psychedelic than Bluetech, but still catchy and more groovy, I think. I don't see it mentioned here, but it's good, trippy music. Probably their best album yet. And if you don't fall in love with track 5, Beautiful Feeling, you don't have a pulse. I'm recommending, not selling. Saikosounds Link
  11. Yeah, but, realistically, doesn't that add a bit of drama in people's lives that they often sorely need? "Oh my goodness gracious, what am I to do? My computer is infected with the plague sickness, I dare say. This may be the end. Go on without me. Tell them my story."
  12. How Psy is your taste in broads? Heh. Sorry.
  13. I don't agree. To sum up: Women, hipsters with Arcade Fire on their iPods, and Logic users.
  14. You must be running out of vitriol by now, abasio.

  16. I read somewhere not too long ago that it's better for the ultimate product of music to record everything in mono. The general theory, if I recall, is that it reduces the amount of space in the soundstage each sound occupies, therefore decreasing any muddiness caused by competing sounds. Apparently this is a classic technique, used for many decades, but I'm not an expert in this area so it would be wise not to take my word for it. I'm sure Colin has some good input. If this is indeed a common technique, then you'll effectively double the tracks at your disposal.
  17. I tend to start with chord progressions, then beats, then basslines, then melodies, then percussion, then greater composition and finer detail. It changes so much through the course of the work that by then end it tends not to resemble the original. I like working organically, trying my best to let the thing become what it wants to be without intruding too much.
  18. What do you think? I've really been enjoying getting to know it over the past few months. Then again, SX is probably very similar, no? I find there are minor things that bug me about C4, like some things not being entirely precise, but for the most part it's a dream compared to Reason. What are you using for drums? I'm getting a bit tired of depending on the Halion.
  19. Freescha - Freeschaland New 2-CD comp of unreleased material. Very cool stuff, if you're into that sort of thing (similar to Casino Versus Japan).
  20. At the moment: 1. Eat Static - De-Classified 2. Prometheus - Corridor of Mirrors 3. Logic Bomb - Sonic Algebra 4. 5.
  21. Nah. No profile. I don't know, I think I just like the presence of the CDs alone. But I wish I could see some graphs of my collection. I was trying to answer the top 3 favorite label thread and I just don't know. The first is Warp, clearly, but the rest are spread across so many different labels. Maybe Morr is second. I'd probably be shocked to see the results.
  22. Damn, that's cool. I wish I had the will to catalog all my CDs.
  23. There it is. Man, I would so love to hear it on that big system. I think I'd implode from excitement.
  24. Yes, for production they're good. You made it seem like you wanted headphones for DJing in your statement. Sorry for the confusion.
