  1. I picked up the Dragonfly release in a store back when it was relatively new. It's all beat up, but it still plays fine. It's one of the few discs I can safely say I'll never get rid of.
  2. Alcyone FTW!
  3. I hear ya. Back on track. Traditional music of one's respective countries...
  4. Dude, seriously. I'll just start with the first one on your list and say Elvis. No Elvis, no Beatles. You can look the rest of 'em up. Next time, don't take an innocent thread and mangle it with Nationalism. Right Said Charlie.
  5. Sure, if you like your music second-hand.
  6. Clearly your intuition is trying to convince you that spending money is a bad idea. Listen to acidkills. Stick with FL, because it's a powerful program in the right hands, and get a cheap controller if you must buy something (because it's not necessary). Download free VSTs, since there are some very good ones out there. In other words, force yourself to be creative, since that's how the interesting stuff happens, not by amassing gear. And you'll be happy that you have money for food and books, and maybe a date or two.
  7. I really enjoyed that album when I owned it. I lost it at some point, but I had a copy of Camaro Kanitou (amazing track) I'd put on a compilation, which also disappeared a couple years ago. Hypnotic was so awful to its artists, some of whom were making such great music. Such a shame.
  8. abasio's on the job. :drama:
  9. I'm pretty much with visine on this one. I'll add that I think the really interesting and original music to my ears is the stuff that happens between genres, not in the center of them. I honestly can't stand when an artist emulates another, although I do admit it's very hard to avoid being inspired by, or having one's ideas derive from, one's favorite artists.
  10. Dubious!
  11. I know. But that's what the album sounds like. To each his own, though. I recommend listening to the samples in full before buying. Which I personally feel dumb for not doing, because I don't like IM's later work, especially the vocal stuff.
  12. Yeah, this one totally grew on me after not really liking it initially. It was almost as if I didn't want to like it for some reason, as if a new album would have taken away some of the purity of Hydroponic Garden. Also, hearing what I felt was a weak set at Sonica in 2006 made me skeptical. But the album proved stronger than these thoughts. Very nice stuff, and a solid psy-ambient classic, for sure.
  13. Yeah, but you're Greek, right? You're expected to be hairy, no?
  14. Damn, that is one hairy flute player. How many time in your life do you get to say that?
  15. Get Broken Toy only if interested in formulaic, dancefloor party, Israeli full on, because that's what it sounds like. (Multistate, Multistate, Multistate!!!)
  16. +1 Mr. T is such a good role model.
  17. The Frozen Ghost album sounds good, although I think all the samples and the spookiness kind of blow it for me, but the music is exactly right. Edible Technique does indeed sound like a fantastic track from that sample. There's no way my head's not bobbing to that one, and the layering and sound work is really effective. And yeah, Hiyarant is nice. Raw and powerful. Thanks again for the tips, Ormion. Turns out the Broken Toy album is not great. Formulaic full-on that reminds me way too much of IM and Skazi. But it does have its moments.
  18. Oh. Hehe. Looks like a D.
  19. Cool, man. Will do. Thanks for helping me not feel delusional about the Multistate album. Hehe. It really does hit me in all the right spots. By the way, I have the new Broken Toy here next to me, which I have yet to dig into. Have you heard it yet? The last one left some room for improvement, so I hope he's sorted some things.
  20. Agree. Those sooooo do not belong here, especially after the dude with colorful sunglasses and the killargh robot dinosaur. What does "terrandise" mean, anyway? I mean, with dinosaurs you have the Tyrannosaur, which one could have turned into "Tyrannocide" or something. Was that what they were after? Terran- and -dise seems more like a description of a paradise on earth. Strange. And funny.
  21. Honestly, Ormion, I don't remember enjoying Xatrik's first album, Project A. I pretty quickly put it into my To Sell pile, after having my expectations shot down. I remember reading an interview with him and about how he was disappointed with it himself. So I sort of lost interest. But after hearing just a few minutes of the first track on Collaborating with Machines at Saikosounds I knew it was for me, regardless. Anyway, looks like I have to pick up Inside Information ASAP. And I'll definitely have a go at Future Cuts, too, like you suggest. Thanks!
