  1. Is it sticking, or just not playing?
  2. Yah, very cool track.
  3. Awesome. You won't be disappointed, man.
  4. It's definitely been getting so-so reviews.
  5. For the past few weeks I've been starting with Etnica - Nitrox and Chrome - inspired by reger's Etnica threads a while back. It's crazy how one's perceptions of albums changes over time. Still, though, Small Doses and Detonator have been getting the most play, as before. This is driving to the train, buzzing on coffee and smokes, ~45 minutes after I get up. I don't listen to music first thing.
  6. +1 Way too many dumb samples over decent music.
  7. I remember it. I stumbled upon it in late 2000, early 2001, along with that really bad Dragonfly site that was up too long and the Blueroom site that also sold its speakers. I remember giving Pleiadians' Family of Light a pretty bad review. And I remember how it resembled goatrance.free.fr - one was in green, one was in blue, or something. But it was fun to find a group of people who liked what I liked, because until then I'd been on my own, finding what I could in obscure CD shops in Chicago.
  8. devious - I think "simplicity" is definitely a relative term in the making of music. I grew up with hardware but the DAWs these days are in my opinion much simpler to use, of course after you get the hang of them. I'd love to be surrounded by hardware, like Vangelis or someone, but I can't imagine feeling comfortable at all with the maze of cables and cords or the expense, etc. It's nice to see someone still obsessed with that way, though. When do we get to hear some results of all of your equipment?

There are definitely exceptions to this rule.
  10. Hell yeah, man. Really nice work. Very powerful and uplifting. I can totally imagine a video with things sprouting all over the place and a shining, triumphant sun. Wicked.
  11. Sounds good to me. Spam-hats unite!
  12. fosku, you may know this already, but there's a really good DVD biography of Bob Dylan called "No Direction Home." I watched the first disc last week, and am watching the second disc tonight. Directed by Scorsese.
  13. I just posted this in the guitar thread, but the guitar part in Juno Reactor's Hotaka is almost exactly like the one in S.U.N. Project's Dance of the Witches.

Juno Reactor - Hotaka Very cool track. Stevie Stevens, Billy Idol's old guitarist. Very similar to S.U.N. Project's Dance of the Witches (from Macrophage), also a cool guitar track.
  15. Go ahead with your bad self, Towelie! Cool stuff!
  16. Hey, genaro, you might want to take a look at Reaper. My good friend who is a very talented songwriter brought it to my attention yesterday. Apparently it is fairly sophisticated but also very gentle on your computer. Of course it is far from a standard program like Cubase or Logic, which would have its share of advantages and disadvantages, but it might be another one to try out, see if it feels good.
  17. Fiona Apple, Tori Amos and Enya (when she's not cheesing out for a radio song).
  18. Really nice Oopie. Lots of emotive and sentimental melodies going on, which is something I enjoy quite a bit. And a nice structure that doesn't linger too long and keeps the ear excited with detail. If I had a criticism, it would be that the sounds are generally a bit bright and somehow cheap sounding, including the drums. That guitar sound, for instance, could be made into a more interesting and more mysteriously romantic sound. What sort of equipment are you using? Anyway, really nice work. Thanks for sharing it.
  19. I have glasses, ass. What I need is the will to go back and carefully read everything you've written, boring teacher. Glad to hear it will be fixed.
  20. Oh my god. Radi's back. NP: Anything by AP or Posford. Just because.
  21. So, the Off Topic forum is now hidden from guests. Weird. But why is the old Freestyle forum still visible? It's sooooooooo old. Boring Teacher.
  22. The album is called "Eliminator". Maybe that suggests that all of Ziki's pride is in the process of being eliminated by that machine, starting with the front, then the back, then the right, then the left, for a full 100%. 90% is already accomplished, apparently, hence the design.
  23. Wow. Ziki.
