  1. Mooooooooooooooooooooooniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
  2. Is it okay to talk about nice headshapes in this thread?
  3. One of the better psy tracks I've heard in this section. But I have some criticism: - The full-on thing is generic. It sounds like lots of other artists. Mostly it sounds like Logic Bomb from about five years ago. - Pretty much all of minute 5 (long break) is filler and can be removed, in my opinion. - I like the melodic elements (except for the melody in minute 5, which is forced and awkward). - I felt it was too "safe" and could use some more oomph/distortion/boost/gusto/randomness. - The structure is solid. It's listenable and "nice" (definitely a morning track). I would've liked to hear some more thickness, rawness, anti-structure and originality. But that's my taste, and one person's feedback. Good luck!
  4. For today's psytrance in general? Yeah, mainly Infected Mushroom and GMS - all about cheese effects, Hollywood samples and overly crisp, cookie-cutter production. All the other decent artists can't really be heard in the majority of stuff I experience.
  5. You beat me to it. That's exactly what came to mind when I saw that album cover recently.
  6. It looks good but I can't say I was really impressed by the sound samples there. It sounds plastic as opposed to lush.
  7. I guess it's been established that the phenomenon is not the doppler effect as that would require movement, whereas switching from headphones to speakers is not really movement. I would be interested to know what the physics is behind the pitch change of this switch. Could it maybe be the movement of the sound itself as opposed to the relative position of the listener? As in, with speakers, the sound is moving around the room, echoing off of walls and other surfaces, many of which take time to get to the ears, whereas the sound waves in headphones are more straightforward and instant.
  8. Don't you mean a "thrench"? An Orphic one?
  9. That makes sense. I looked around briefly for a good explanation of the phenomenon and didn't find anything. Do you know the physics behind this, Colin? Here's another interesting one: You never really hear your music until you play it for someone else for the first time. And depending on who that person is it will sound different. And I find it funny that I'll think a track is done, but the minute I send it to a friend to listen, I'll find a million things I need to change.
  10. On the contrary, I'm just hoping that I don't end up falling in love with a girl who likes Posford, because then I'd have to dump her. "So, hey, baby, check out this album. It's one of my favorites. It's by "Shpongle". Have you heard of them? It's totally cool, like polka for stoners...Hey, where are you going? But I love you! What did I do?! PLEASE!!! I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO HAVE CHILDREN AND SPEND THE REST OF OUR LIVES TOGETHER!!! WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THEN AND NOW?!! COME BACK!!!"
  11. Yeah, I'm sort of wondering whether coffee in the morning and alcohol in the evening have something to do with it. If you're listening first thing - without coffee - then maybe that's the difference. Yes. The loop is dangerous that way. I've found that I can loop almost anything and it becomes interesting after a while. Like, for instance - and I'm totally serious - a 15 second porn movie looped over and over again starts to have a very interesting rhythm after a while. I wonder what sort of psychological thing is going on that makes a loop interesting over time, and what makes it uninteresting the next day.
  12. True. Is this a doppler effect, you think? Since the headphone speakers are closer to the ear than monitors?
  13. ...how the tempo of your tracks seem to change drastically depending on the time of day? First thing in the morning they sound too slow, but when I'm tired and ready for bed they sound too fast. There was a time before I was aware of this phenomenon that I would try to correct the tempo. I've also noticed that I gain more clarity on my music when I let it rest for a while and don't listen to them. Something that sounded fairly complex while in the thick of creation can end up sounding simplistic if not heard for a while. What interesting phenomena have you noticed?
  14. Funny, Reason plays sound on my girlfriends. I have two girlfriends: One for the left channel and one for the right. But I'm hoping to upgrade soon to a Surround 5.1 set-up.
  15. I have a long-term plan for phasing them out.
  16. Sounding different was getting old. So where can I get a 303?
  17. I like it. But you've extended about 3-4 minutes of material into 7:45. Needs to be compressed or made more interesting. (There's a Music Promo forum, btw.)
  18. No, I understand. I don't think it can quite be compared to loving honey, because there are more complicated sociological factors involved, but I understand.
  19. I understand. But can you describe why you're a sucker for the 303?
  20. Please pardon my criticism, but I don't understand why the 303 - or soft variants thereof - is still in use. In my opinion it was maxed out long ago. Aren't there any new, interesting ways to create an aesthetic that doesn't sound like someone else's? Seems to me that a ton of people are trying very hard to create new technologies to keep us all from sounding the same. Or is it a competition to see who can do the coolest shit with a 303? Is it to please the crowd, some of which actually specifically wants to hear 303 sounds while the majority doesn't? ??? I don't get it.
