  1. I just recently got into Merck's later stuff, and I hear they're closing down.
  2. You could always ask Pavel, who is friends with the label guys, to get you a deal. You may have to wait six months for it to happen, though.
  3. Here's a link to the obfusc album, with a sample video done for the second track, which is one of the better ones on the album: Cluck.
  4. Another cool label to check out is Boltfish. I recently picked up a bunch of their stuff and it sort of has that Toytronic aesthetic, which I enjoy. The album by obfusc, called Internal Countryside, is very good and hasn't left my CD player for a few days. Melodic, not noisy, IDM with great soundwork.
  5. Yeah, it was that prog thing that got me off that series. Blech. Might as well give me a platter of chocolate cake, a bowl of jelly beans and Diet Coke.
  6. New Jarre? Cool! I'll certainly be looking into that myself. Thanks for the info.
  7. Agree with the Trentemoller thing. I listened to it again last night. It's really well made, but it somehow lacks catchiness. His older stuff is catchier.
  8. Colin's the dirty stepchild of the compression thread.
  9. I was into the series for a few years and bought 7-13. I only have vol. 7 left. It was fun while it lasted.
  10. Halalalalalalalalalala!!! Kill the infidel! Halalalalalalalalalala!!!
  11. AUGH! I just came to see new posts here and got stabbed!
  12. [insert game-show wrong-answer buzzer here.]
  13. Things are getting heated in here, Moni! If we don't get the results soon I'm afraid there's going to be a stabbing. Nah, take your time.
  14. I actually kinda like that one. Yahel has screenshots of Reason components in his cover. Lame!
  15. The end of an era indeed. I'm hoping it's a passing phase. So no Ka-Sol double album either, then? [cries]
  16. I agree that it's nice to have a reference, especially since my memory sucks when it comes to knowing the proper ranges for particular instruments. And then, yeah, doing the rest by ear is a good idea.
  17. Live hard, die young! Bookoo forever!

  18. Phew! That was a close one. Goopy? I don't know...Gooey, gloppy,... Like a lifeform resembling The Creature from the Black Lagoon (in 3D), as opposed to, say, a Cylon. I'll throw Ozric Tentacles in there, too, for their new age, happy-happy-joy-joy glam rock that would've been great to shake a Yanni mullet to in the 80s. Both Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin have made some great tracks over the years. I like Boards of Canada more than Aphex Twin, but yeah, the fuss was mostly over (or should have been) after Music Has the Right to Children.
  19. Am I the only person who finds System 7's stuff kinda goopy and weird? I like a few tracks, but I generally find it hard to relate to. Then again, it seems connected with that whole Orb/FSOL genre that never impressed me.
