  1. Thanks, man! I never did get to take a picture of the rural winter landscape I did before this one.
  2. So, on slow nights at work I'll occasionally draw a little something with markers on our dry-erase board. Here's the latest one: Pic taken with my boss's crap cellphone camera. Also the drawing itself is about 70cm high.
  3. I'm just wondering why so many studios use them - Sonys. The AKG K701s are fantastic, by the way, even straight out of the box. A tiny bit of bass boost is necessary at the moment, but no more than the other phones I've used, including some good Sennheiser models. Still, no worries about bass reproduction - it's full and rich and natural. And I've had to reduce the treble level on my amp to 0, which is way cool.
  4. I'm with ya - I'd love to know when to expect some more Schlab releases.
  5. I would love to hear those Hyperion tracks if you don't mind. Hypnotic was corrupt in several ways. For one, they had some very talented artists under them, but instead of marketing their artists individually they put out a ton of crap compilations, often mixed, to attempt to make a buck. Also, I learned from Kenneth of Colorbox that the label stiffed them on royalties, which was hard for him, apparently, and made him stay away from music for a while (although his brother kept making music with Bypass Unit) - which is a damn shame if you ask me since the Colorbox album was so good. And I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened to Psygone, but that's speculation.
  6. Yeah, I remember Donut Junkie from Hypnotic compilations. It never really stood out for me as much as Colorbox, Bypass Unit and Psygone. I also remember a Hyperion track that was really cool. Did he/they ever release anything? There was even a super-cool KURO track on one of the comps. Hypnotic had a very cool thing going there. Too bad the label was so corrupt.
  7. yes, that cat is perfect

  8. Yeah, that was my issue with the 650s. They have a great reputation for rich sound, but a sound that is not as natural as it could be. And I think most would agree that when producing one needs to hear the sound in as natural a form as possible. The only thing I'm worried about with the K701s is that reviewers complain about the lack of bass. I had a similar problem with the Sennheiser 590s, which were noticeably short on bass compared to my previous Sony headphones. But it didn't take long to get used to it, and also realize that the popular Sony models are totally inflated with unnatural bass. I still don't know why so many recording studios use Sonys - the MDR7506 and 7509 models mainly. Maybe because they trade in sound for disposability?
  9. I like ottos new pussy !

  10. Since I don't have the luxury of using monitor speakers in my apartment, I have to do everything with headphones. I've been working for a little less than a year on Sennheiser HD280pro headphones, which I think are nice, especially for listening, and after years of burn-in I feel they only got better and better, even with monitoring. But I felt I needed something better for pure monitoring. So I just plopped down a chunk of change on the AKG K701 phones, because I feel I need every advantage I can get without having speakers at my disposal. Link to the phones at the AKG site Review at Headroom I also looked at the Sennheiser HD600s and HD650s. The HD600s were my second choice. I'll report back with a review, although they say these have an exceptionally long burn-in period.

  12. Yeah, man, "Full On" used to mean the good stuff, the maximal stuff. Was a shame when the term evolved to mean what it does today.
  13. I've been to several but they've never really been that smooth and pleasurable.
  14. Technologic was disappointing to me. Really great sound but repetetive as hell. If they'd added some interesting variety to their tracks it would be a favorite.
  15. Sounds like a great time! I haven't had one yet.
  16. Ah, what fun! Happy happy, joy joy. They all sort of remind me somewhat of disco funk combined with video game music with more contemporary soundwork. Lots of nice melodies and stuff scattered here and there. Definitely good for smiles. Thanks for sharing.
  17. It's a different tastes thing, I guess, but I've grown tired of the Ultimae aesthetic. And after listening to World of Sleepers, as well as seeing CBL live this summer, I was rudely reminded that I only ever liked them for one track - MOS6581. It happens.
  18. Yeah, I haven't even come close to having CPU trouble with Reason 3.0. Just remember that a MAJOR drawback is being limited to Reason factory instruments, which means you can't add VSTIs. Nor can you record audio straight to it. Still, once you learn how to use what it's got, it's very powerful.
