No problems here. Have you guys been opening those porn spam links?

This thread has grown from stupid to tiresome. Now it is time on Sprockets when we dance! *Does the German version of the roboto*

I didn't win one in the contest but I ordered one last week, so I also hope it arrives soon.
-
Sounds like my Talpa experience.
-
Twisted System - Core Grody. It was cool for about 5 minutes.
-
No problemo. If you like that track you'd probably like Dance of the Witches, too.
-
Oh, my bad. Guess I wasn't totally clear. I'm actually looking for the album and am wondering if anyone wants to sell their copy to me.
-
That's 380 Volt, from the Zwork album.

Damn, it just gets worse and worse. What a suck-ass night.

I tried it some time ago and didn't really like it. Pandora, however, has been giving me everything I need in an Internet radio.

FLstudio vs. Cubase
Otto Matta replied to CosmicEquilibrium's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I think Fruity Loops is a strong program when used to its full potential, but Cubase still has broader application for professionals. -
Man, I can't wait to get my copy of Jikkenteki's CD after all the hype here. I ordered it a few days ago, so it probably won't get here for another week or so, but damn, this place has make my expectations pretty frickin' high for that thing. I probably won't know my New Year's Eve music choice until that night, but two years ago I had a fuckin' blast ushering in the new year with Trust in Trance 3.

Agree. And Astral Projection's art, pretty much across the board, is all really bad, too, in my opinion.

I use monitor headphones, although I'd use them in combination with monitor speakers if I didn't live in an apartment with neighbors. I find that my levels in headphones can be deceiving, and after I finish a track I have to listen to it in various modes, like in the car, on crap computer speakers, etc., before I can tell what's too loud and what's too soft. After which I adjust the levels appropriately. I'm wondering if my Sennheiser 280pro headphones, although decent for monitoring, are not the best. Anyone have any good monitor headphones advice while we're at it? (No Sony recommendations, please, for godsake.) I'm assuming closed, circumaural is best? I'm kinda leaning towards Beyer for my next set.

Interacting Music Making Thread
Otto Matta replied to Psychocell's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
1) What programs you use, and any hardware instruments, midi controllers, etc (PC Specs too)? Reason 3.0 exclusively, although I have Cubase 4 and hope to learn how to use it for production in the near future. Korg 01/Wfd as controller. AMD Athlon X2 3800+. M Audio Delta 1010LT soundcard. 2) On average, how long does it take you to build and finish a Song? At least two weeks, up to about two months. 3) Which parts do you find tedious when building your track (if any), if it pattern sequencing, automation, etc? Sometimes the perfect sound can be very elusive, which is frustrating. I also find the very end, rounding off all the edges and tweaking every little goddamn thing to make it perfect, very tedious. 4) Where did the inspiration come from to start producing music? My initial inspiration came from the pop synthesists of the 80s, the ones who were totally surrounded by gear on stage and on MTV, like Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran, Rupert Greenall of The Fixx, and Thomas Dolby. 5) AND Your favourite style to produce? I like making upbeat, sentimental electronica with a sci-fi twist. I've been planning on taking some leaps into more experimental territory. -
I still like Dorset Perception and Divine Moments of Truth, largely for the cool vocals. That's it.

I'm hoping for a new Schlab comp and/or the promised second Ka-Sol album. And there should be a new Delta, right? An Extrawelt album doesn't seem entirely unlikely, either. So if two or more of those come in, I'll be relatively happy in terms of this scene. I also expect the full-on trend will continue, but I predict it will start to lose steam by the end of the year and begin splintering into something more interesting.

Cool, Shaft. Thanks. I try very hard not to overdo the effects on my drums, but maybe this is a mistake. I usually only put a little bit of dry reverb on them, although in the track a couple posts up I used Scream on them. So, is Scream 4 a new version, or is that the one that came with Reason 3? Yeah, I'm still using Reason exclusively. I have Cubase 4 but the bugs make it very difficult to use - not to mention the fact that I feel increasingly comfortable working with Reason - so I'm waiting for a major revamp. Any new stuff on your end?
-
His stuff with Move D is by far my favorite so far, although the Higher Intelligence Agency collaborations are damn nice.

Here you go, faze, as promised: Starcade - In Spectre Moodz Hope you like it. It's sort of the "big brother" to the latest track since they were written back to back, and have some similar elements. Bahamut, you might want to give it another listen as well, since I incorporated some of your advice since last time.
-
Thanks for listening and responding, guys. I really, really, really appreciate it. Bahamut - You're right. There are a couple places that could use some ambiance of some sort. I'll see if I can fix that. And what can I say...I like "classic" sounds. Stalker - Hope the mood came at a good time. faze - I know Chicago well, and I know its winters just as much, so I'm glad my song could have some life again on those streets. I don't have anything online to hear, but if you give me a day or two I'll repost the last track I put up here, In Spectre Moodz, which I think is pretty decent but got little response, and has been heavily revised since. I'm only slowly getting better at production quality, so my earlier stuff gets increasingly sketchy. Pavel - Good ear. I'm not the biggest Schnauss fan, but one of the sounds I made, the one in the left channel at the beginning of the first break, I named "Pine Schnauss" because of the resemblance. Thanks Nurbs.

Hi. I've got a new track I'd like to share with ya'll. I thought it had a festive, happy mood for the holidays. Short, sweet, simple and happy. Take a listen and tell me what you think. I'd appreciate it. Sendspace: Starcade - Fresh Cut (Pine) YouSendIt: Starcade - Fresh Cut (Pine)

Wow. What a nice post. Thank you for those positive vibes. Very cool of you. And I totally agree with the Symphoid/Billy comments.
