  1. Hey Anoebis, is Psylent Buddhi Kasper from Denmark, the guy who used to post here a lot a while ago, or someone else? The only stuff I have from Kasper is chillout/space ambient stuff.

    HOW!?

I listen to it when I'm in the mood to listen to it, which is somewhere around a quarter to a third of the time I spend listening to music. I, too, don't quite understand how people can listen to it full-time, but I don't quite understand a lot of things.
  3. I remember totally dancing alone in my apartment one night to Legion of Green Men's Floating on Shallow Water. It just hit the spot that night. They had a great single on an Interchill comp a while back.
  4. Truth be told, although I think Scizoeffective is more important (and just flat out better, in my opinion), than The Great Unknown, I think X-Dream's Radio, released in 1998, is more important than Scizoeffective for that sub-genre. In other words, it seems to me that Radio opened up the door for Scizoeffective. In which case, although an incredible album, the latter may not qualify for "The Year of..." award.
  5. Agree! NP: Autechre - Clipper One of the best Autechre tracks, around the time they really started to catch their groove, IMO.
  6. Indecipherable and interesting at the same time.
  7. No way! Good album (not great), musically diverse and popular, but not nearly as groundbreaking as other albums from the same year. One example: Vibrasphere came out with what could be considered the first dub/progressive tracks on Echo, and that style is huge now. And let's not forget Logic Bomb, The Delta, and Atmos.
  8. Yeah, a great year for Flying Rhino, but none of those albums are considered the best ever. I thought this was supposed to be an unpersonalized, unbiased list.
  9. I get that error when I have a media player open at the same time, like a DVD player.
  10. To be fair, we haven't heard the album yet. I'd wait to make any sweeping judgments.
  11. Infected Mushroom - The Gathering: 1999 Pleiadians - Identified Flying Object: 1997 Juno Reactor - Transmissions: 1993 Fractal Glider - Parasite: 2002 Etnica - Alien Protein: 1996 X-Dream - Radio: 1998
  12. A netlabel stream of an album by Heezen. Sounds very Biosphere-ish to me.
  13. Scream is from Reason. It's basically a distortion module with lots of cool adjustable settings like tube, tape and overdrive, a small EQ, and more. Great for drums, and a way to add character to other sounds. Stacking them or sandwiching them makes for some very interesting stuff indeed.
  14. Yeah, it's cool. I want some pants like that, but I guess I have to earn them by learning how to break a guy's spine with two fingers first, eh?
  15. I totally recommend Tales from the Dark Forest by Stone Age Records and, of course, the Schlabbaduerst compilations (where you'll find lots of BotFB and Ka-Sol tracks better than the best stuff on Twin Sharkfins (an album I really enjoy, mind you)). The latter comps are not readily available in stores, but can be bought from the Schlab site, and although my purchases have been hassle-free, I've seen some people complain of long delivery times. But they're well worth the potential wait, in my opinion.
  16. Samples They're very short and not great quality. Hopefully that part in Galactic isn't the only cool one...
  17. Thanks for the response, Colin. I do, too, actually. The Scream unit has really been growing on me for its ability to create intriguing sounds. Still, it seems to be very worth the extra money for all the additions (especially the on-board synths and plug-ins), as well as the updates and clean-ups, in Cubase 4 compared to SX3.
  18. I also think that some acts are known for more general things like the power of one's sound and the force of one's originality, two things Pleiadians used to have, but Etnica not so much after FOL. The fact is that Pleiadians were very likeable for all sorts of people with varying tastes, so if they confine themselves to being enjoyed only by dancefloor types then I feel they'll have failed in comparison to their first two Pleiadians releases. The samples I've heard from this album sound very full-on, unfortunately, but hopefully they'll at least do it well. Galactic sounds pretty cool, actually - full-on but with a Goa melody. We'll see!
  19. Yeah, very cool stuff. Although I personally wouldn't call it "smooth". Not always easy to listen to.
  20. Looks like it's finally happening: @ Saikosounds I'm excited and skeptical at the exact same time.
  21. That's exciting news. This one goes on my list.
  22. Doesn't get better than that...on that particular album.
