  1. Is that a minute of various stuff, or is it intro/outro material? Is it interesting stuff?
  2. Is the full version of VTOL different from the album version?
  3. Yes, which is interesting considering the vast amount of crap they put out. I talked not too long ago with Rene from Colobox who described horrific experiences with Hypnotic and how they pretty much single-handedly stole away his desire to continue making and releasing music. Fortunately he's been back in the studio for a while now.
  4. Yes and yes. These are the ones that came to my mind, too.
  5. It clearly means you want to have sex with reger's mother.
  6. It's somewhere-in-between unknown, in my opinion. The Caipirinha releases were all like that to me. I think a better place to look - again, this is my opinion - is at the Skam label for similar stuff.
  7. Genetic - old but still cool, with an electro vibe Extrawelt (!) Wizzy Noise's latest stuff Just a warning, though: It seems like electro heads can be just as snobby about their music as psy people are, and people who don't like psy music tend not to like it much.
  8. Oforia's remix of Man With No Name's Big Trouble in Outer Space
  9. Thanks, lumpi. I did a search and came up with nothing, and then looked in 1998, not 1999 (Discogs says '98). But I found my review from 2001, which wasn't very sympathetic: "If you've heard one song from X.I.S. you've heard them all. Which is unfortunate because that one song is really pretty cool. Maybe they might learn how to create diversity in their music and thereby have it hold one's interest. 5/10" ... I will say that the sound quality of the album isn't great, even for 1998/99 standards, but I'd give the album higher points this time around.
  10. Maybe I'm blind but I don't see a review for this one. Just wanted to say I've been listening to it a bit lately and like it a lot more than I used to - probably because it's the sound of a bygone era and they just don't make 'em like they used to. I never really "xplored" the second disk, the blue "Moon Rites" disk, but hearing it again after some years I have to say I was really impressed by it, moreso than the orange/yellow "Sun Rites" disk with the famous track, Broken Spirals. Cool stuff! Why isn't there a review? And if there is one, why am I so blind?
  11. Nah, I like it too (and Spirallianz). My worst would have to be the Kopsses S/T album and Hara Gobi's Party Junkies album. P-U!
  12. I'm a fan of that compilation, too. The first Toytronic compilation, Neurokinetik, is also very good. And yeah, the latest Ochre is very sweet indeed.
  13. I usually detest Aphex Twin's music, but I've also fallen deeply in love with two of his tracks: Alberto Balsalm and Rhubarb. The first was given to me on a compilation by an old Psynews friend. The second I heard in one of the Salad Fingers movies, and wish I had the full thing.
  14. I always found Chaos Existence very frustrating. I always had to wait for them to get stuff in stock that shops like Saikosounds and Psyshop (and Futuretrance at the time - remember???) had in stock, and often they never even stocked the good stuff, so I gave up on them fairly quickly. I remember the guy who owns the place being super-friendly, though. All my psy orders go to Saikosounds, but several years ago I used Psyshop and Futuretrance a lot more.
  15. I think, objectively, that the psytrance genre is dark in general. Again, thinking back to when I first started listening I even thought Astral Projection was dark-ish and aggressive. So from that list it's hard to choose which is dark. They're all dark, IMHO, or at least very serious.
  16. Toytronic is a solid way to go.
  17. If you're on a Sending Orbs kick, also look into the Yagya album as well as Funckarma. And if you like the latter, there's a really nice remix CD of their work called Refurbished that has some great artists on it, which might lead you to more good IDM.
  18. Another very important key ingredient to Postmodernism was the realization that utopianism, a project that the Modernists put a lot of effort into, didn't work.
