I don't understand what you're laughing at, reger. This stuff is deathly serious. Charlie's song speaks of the universe and everything in it, everything that has ever been and everything that will ever be. Is that funny to you? More cowbell. Indeed!
-
Whoa. Sounds complicated. I haven't really managed to get to the more advanced features of Reason yet. I'm still not really sure what the pattern sequencer is for. Is the Novation a keyboard?
-
Are my eyes deceiving me, or has Digipak actually taken the lead in a race that was clearly lost back there?
-
Charlie, stop being a regerhole.
-
Point very well taken. For the record, I wasn't trying to dis Nuclear Ramjet. But you make the album sound compelling.
-
Okay, then either everything is going better than I expected or I'm a total retard and am unable to understand the joke. I feel the need to start a thread in off-topic about this, because either way it's fascinating... If I recall, Shaft, you recently purchased Reason yourself. So...? When are we gonna hear some wicked tunage from ya?

I remember how that album got hyped here during the interval before release, and I unfortunately got caught up in it. But then I heard it. I don't think an album has ever reached my trash bin as quickly as that one, although Son Kite and XV-Kilist are close seconds.

Sorry, my brother, but I strongly believe that Ka-Sol is just a bit more most awaited. At least in my little Ka-Sol-obsessed world.

Hehe. Well, errr, that's what I meant. I mean, when I said my music might be like NJHO's, I meant you guys make me feel like a superstar, like him, which is totally undeserved. Seriously, I just got home tonight from work to a complimentary email from an artist I really appreciate and admire, a guy named Nyles Lannon (a.k.a., n.ln). I've recommended his work elsewhere here at Psynews, and I'll do it again: His n.ln project is spectacular, ambient-ish IDM. Anyway, he asked to hear more of my work. Made me feel like a little girl! Heeeheeheehee!! My weekend has been made. Cheers.

You guys make me feel so good! Thank you so much. Honestly, it's weird, though. Sometimes, with such nice remarks, I feel like my music could be like NJHO's, or Charlie's spoof, and I wouldn't even know it. I get a little paranoid. Anyway, I've put a lot of thought into it and I feel like my tunes have been a little lazy. Like, I haven't done enough with the rhythms and variations to make them more interesting. I've been too impatient to get them done and share them out. So I'll be spending more time putting more interest in them, and not share them until I feel they're ready for it. But again, I really appreciate your comments. Means a lot to me.

Post your best or most stupid OLDIES

Would love to hear it. -
So how did it break? Specifically, who broke it, how, and exactly how is it broken? Digipaks, digital packers, digipaks are the champions! Digipaks, digital packers, digipaks are the champions! Digipaks, digital packers, digipaks are the champions!
-
Sounds reasonable enough to me. Funny, though, I have a lot of CDs, and have owned many, many more that are gone now, and I never, ever, not once, had a broken digipak (whereas I've had at least 100 or so broken jewel cases). Guess that's where my large bias comes from. But everyone has their own experiences and biases, I guess. Like, I can't for the life of me understand how someone can wear out a digipak, unless they go hiking with it and use it to put their hot cooking pot on.
-
Whew. Thanks. I'll give it a good try this time. But I'm not promising anything.
-
1. I don't have time to read that silly response. 2. Yeah, but with digipaks you don't even have to take good care of them and they'll still last longer than a jewel case. And when was the last time a digipak broke in a shipment? 6. Not really, no. 8. Sorry, I have no idea what you mean. If you've found an easy and consistent way to get that devil tape off without killing yourself and without leaving any tape on the case, they you are a god. 3. But why replace them when you can buy the digipak?
-
*gasp* Too late! *gasp* It's an unfair world! [dies]

Kiph, dammit, you need to clean your ears out! If you can't recognize genius when you hear it, you simply need to not post your opinion. This is about as close to Simon Posford and Aphex Twin as it comes! CASE CLOSED!!!

Downsides of jewel cases: 1. You need two hands to use them, or one hand awkwardly. 2. They break more often than they should. It's either the hinges, or the tabs that hold the insert, or that star-like thing the CD sits in, or the entire front side. (Yeah, jewel cases can be replaced, but I've never seen replacement parts for Digipaks - I wonder why.) 3. It's sometimes hard as hell to get the goddamn insert out. 4. And sometimes when the insert is just a card it slides in and out and gets all bent out of shape. 5. Sometimes when you put the insert back in you miss a tab, and the tab ends up leaving an indentation on your insert. 6. The front and back get scuffed to hell over time. 7. They're just advanced cassette cases, and I think we should move on. It's not 1990 anymore. 8. And perhaps the worst thing of all is that they stick that impossible tape across the top of new jewel cases that you'd sometimes rather kill yourself than continue to pick at with your thumbnail only to get a tiny sliver of tape off. Upsides of jewel cases: 1. Sometimes they don't break. 2. They fit in CD racks designed for jewel cases.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. It's a small thing, though, and you can't expect a person to be perfect, although this composition comes close.
-
You just have to promise to remember us little pysfolk while you're rocketing to stardom. Because ultimately, and I already hear the foreshadowing in your music, you will have a wicked downward spiral into darkness and depression related to the burdens of being an international superstar, and you'll need some emotional support on the comedown.
-
I'm thinking Twisted might be selling this work short. I'd aim for Sony or Capitol, or even Warp, although it might be too good for Warp.

Good tune, Charlie. After hearing the opening 30 seconds I genuinely didn't expect to like it but, no, it's really rather lovely. Gets especially good at around 1:00 and steadily builds in quality there on. Has a very hypnotic, enthralling and warm sound to it. Really nice and fuzzy. Shame about the bit-rate as it consequently sounds pretty thin but that's true of any 128 kbps recording.

Distorted by the dark side, this thread has become.
