  1. I only liked 4 tracks (which are 3, 4, 5, 6) in this album. Rest is just throwaway material. Disappointed.
  2. I agree here. If Psy Tech and Psychedelic Techno are separate styles, then the line between them is blurry. I've always thought that psytrance artists borrowed elements from techno to create "psychedelic techno". One must take into account where such artists are performing. If techno, blended with psychedelic elements, is being played in psytrance festivals, then "psychedelic techno" should be counted as a psytrance style. This article by Basilisk of Ektoplazm is worth reading: http://www.ektoplazm.com/blog/exploring-the-borderlands-of-techno-and-psytrance
  3. You're not wrong about including Ozric Tentacles as being influential in Psybient genre. But instead of mentioning their album "Arborescence", it would be better to include "Ozric Tentacles - Erpland". Simon Posford, in interviews, has mentioned that he was influenced by every track in the album Erpland (except for the track Erpland itself). You can read the interviews here: 1. http://www.harderfaster.net/text/features/12074 2. https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/37594-artist-hallucinogen/ Also note that the album Erpland was released in 1990, so predates Arborescence by four years.
  4. Good guide. Ozric Tentacles ‎– Arborescence should not be included in the Psybient group in my opinion. They are pioneers in Space Rock. Eat Static came from Ozric Tentacles, now that I can understand. Psy Tech is also called Psychedelic Techno. You can mention that in the guide too.

  7. With regards to why old music of any artist may sound better than the new, I would like to add the reasoning made by another band, Insane Clown Posse, who posted the following on Reddit: "The new stuff will never be able to compete with the old stuff because its not just about the music. You're also competing with that guys childhood and the first time he ever heard your shit. the first time he discovered his or her own music or homies or whatever. Thats what the old music means to them. So your new shit usually never gets a fair chance because its just more of the same. You can never compete with the first time regarding anything. Theres always hate regarding the new stuff because it aint the old days anymore. Life aint as fresh as it was when we were young discovering shit for the first time. now we all got bills and responsibilities and all that shit. Thats why most ninjas always perfer the old shit, it just brings back better feelings than the new shit for most people. how can the new shit possibly compete?" To which another poster replied: "Agreed, nostalgia is a dominator. Furthermore, the first album contains material that a musician has accumulated throughout their lives up until that first record contract. Suddenly they've got like 6 months to amass material for the second album. It's hopelessly unlikely that an average or above-average musician will be able to come up with something equal to their earlier work for such a tight deadline." 8. There is no soul to wander in after life coz there is no heaven or hell. The atoms which make your body are just dispersed in the universe...that is all. Man likes to give meaning to death because he does not like the idea of not existing any more.

  11. Good initiative. I always liked the idea of having a forum dedicated to psybient/psychill. Good luck.. and looking forward to joining.
  12. Does this happen to you? I've been discovering a lot of new music and in the quest of listening to it all, I can't remember it much. To help me remember, I've started taking notes. Seems like my memory is not great. :/ Before the days of the internet, I would just buy some albums and repeat them often till I knew all the tracks. The internet age is awesome to discover new music but the shelf life has decreased. Can I have 48 hours in a day? So the extra 24 hours I can reserve to just listening to music. Thank you! What do you do to properly digest your music?
  13. I love Psynews... even though I do not post often. Happy B'day to this awesome forum!

  15. Space Cat - Beam Me Up http://www.discogs.com/Space-Cat-Beam-Me-Up/release/146108 edit: just realized there is a recent thread on this topic here: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php/topic/68248-which-album-is-the-closest-to-hallucinogen-sound/ Sorry to bump this one.
  16. Not psytrance but Prog House. Sample from the movie "Dark City": "First there was darkness. Then came the Strangers. They were a race as old as time itself. They had mastered the ultimate technology. The ability to alter physical reality by will alone. They called this ability "Tuning". I watched the movie way later, after listening to this tune. Perfect use of samples in my opinion creating a dark vibe.
  17. UX - Master Of The Universe (Epic Mix Reloaded) "I'll become master of the universe"......powerful!
  18. From the fantastic album: http://www.discogs.com/Ayla-Nirwana/master/89773
  19. Radi is a passionate person with strong opinions about the music he likes. The whining is fun to read...it makes thinks interesting! But as others have said, keep life balanced and enjoy other things as well. Cheers!
