We are living in the age of information overload and this applies to music too. There is too much music out there to consume. So within your favorite genre, let's say you regularly purchase or download the music you want to listen. How do you listen and digest your music? Do you give it the attention it needs? It has happened a few times that I would listen to an album and not like it in the first listen, but after repeated listens the music would grow on me. But in this age of too much music, there is a risk of not giving an album ample listening time to appreciate and digest the music, in different ways, through a loud system and headphones. A good strategy would be to just stop collecting too much new music and give the albums you already have more attention, time and dedicated listening sessions. I feel multitasking also affects the way we listen to music. I'd rather be selective and give the music proper attention. Not only would this increase the shelf life of the art in question, but also curb the anxiety associated with having to listen to loads of new music in an effort to consume everything out there. What are your thoughts?

Oakenfold's essential mix of 1994 is a combination of goa and progressive with pieces from movie soundtracks. It was an influential mix for sure, but if you want to listen to a genuine (as you call it) goa trance mix from Oakenfold, then Oakenfold's "A Voyage into Trance" which came out in 1995, is much better. It has the following tracks: Trancemission (with Genetic) Sly-Ed (with Man With No Name) The Rezistor (with Dynamix) Teleport (with Man With No Name) Superbooster (with The Infinity Project) Wicked Warp (with Mandra Gora) Voyager III (with Prana) New Moon (with Ayahusca) Feeling Weird (with The Infinity Project) Wizard (with Slinky Wizard) Fat Buddha (with Black Sun) LSD (with Hallucinogen)

My suggestions: 1. Exercise everyday. It will make you feel positive. 2. Develop your hobbies and dedicate time to them on a regular basis. 3. Have goals in life (career, personal). Make a plan and pursue them, with passion, till you die. 4. If you think you have negative thoughts or mood swings often, then consider getting professional help. A negative state of mind can affect the pursuit of happiness. The bottom line is there are many things in this world which can wow us and keep us occupied, but not enough time to indulge in everything. So plan around your priorities and execute. Cheers!

Radi, please send your tracks to me and I'll include them on my label.

Thank you Rotwang for compiling the results. Entheogenic at #16? What a shame. I'm surprised it got only two votes.

I've started a label named NSG (Not So Good). Radi, you can submit your tracks to my label. I promise to respond promptly.

I see what you did there

All Facets of trance according to me (2007 version!)
trancedigital replied to Anoebis's topic in Psynews.ORG
Over the past couple years, Psystep (Psy + dubstep) has emerged into its own style. I suppose this style can now be added as a sub-genre of psytrance. Are there any other emerging styles which have cropped up recently? IMO, this thread should be moved to the General Psytrance forum. -

Awesome new dark progressive psy artist - "Kliment" (!)
trancedigital replied to healium's topic in General Psytrance
The Empty Space album has some good tracks and the sound is more techno oriented. Kliment did an exclusive interview with the now defunct site Psybonsai, where he said: "I wanted to run a little away from the old school progressive trance vibe, so after a few introductory tracks it goes more and more into a techno arrangement with psychedelic sounds appearing here and there". I would like to read the entire interview. Does anyone know where to find it? -

No. Aum Namah Shivaya were the only three words throughout the song. -
Just came back from Shpongle....

^ No that's not it. The tune only had the words "Aum Namah Shivaya" as the vocals. But thanks for pointing out the dreamcatcher song. I didn't know about it. -
He played a track which I didn't know. "Aum Namah Shivaya" vocals were all over the tune. Anyone know this tune or is it unreleased? May be I'm missing something obvious here. Simon rocked it but the louder the music was, the less clarity.

I think we should not include albums which are re-released. The music preferably should be fresh and new. Mods please consider making necessary changes in the rules from now onwards for future polls. Thank you!

Oh Hello flipples... Everyone has given great recommendations already. Please check this link too: http://www.ektoplazm.com/essentials There is more than 20 years of trance for you to explore. I still have not listened to many albums. It won't be possible to listen to everything in this lifetime. But whatever you like, I hope it gives you sonic happiness. About how to listen to this music, I listen to my favorite tracks both on good quality headphones and floorstanding speakers. It is a different experience with either set up.

A german article about goa trance written by me
trancedigital replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
For people complaining the article is in German, you can use google translate to translate it in english. I already posted the link in post #19. As for the feedback, the article is decent and covers the basics for a newbie. One doesn't appreciate or start liking a new music genre by reading an article. Curious people will listen to the albums/songs and decide if it keeps them interested. Most people are turned off by anything which has no lyrics to begin with. SO yeah...this is a niche area and so be it! -
I'm so sorry to ask but it is needed for something fun ..

You make a good point and I agree. Re-release with 1 or 2 new tracks should not be included then.
