Or perhaps overshot your mouth? Sometimes, being a freelancer I work in places and have to put up with a lot of shit, some shit jobs, some stupid people sometimes. Thing is, it's best for me to just keep my mouth shut, else I won't be there again in an instant. Today however I reacted a bit abruptly at a senior art director, after working two long late nights in a row. Now, I'm not sure if professionally, I should apologise tomorrow or not. What I said wasnt wrong, it just came out wrong in frustration. Ever done something similar? What is best course of action in keeping employment? Hah..

Which Goa/NeoGoa artists have you seen live?
Shpongled247 replied to Shpongled247's topic in General Psytrance
Well, some epic replies here! Surprised at Basilisk but I guess ekto keeps u busy! As of the last few weeks I can add Blackstarrfinale and Man with No Name to my previous list of zero! Woot! BSF was amazing as I expected, and heard a couple sneaky new tracks I think. Really nice guy too, was an awesome time. MWNN finished a large London party with an epic set, some parts a bit too almost "normal trance" like for me, but when he played goa stuff it was amazing. Teleport still annihilated a crowd haha. Now to see Filteria in 3 weeks or so! -

Hah.. not looking to get into an argument about validity of "neo" goa as a genre.. So take it as those who are on the label Neogoa then. -
Well, being from Australia, my actual real amount until this weekend is literally Zero. Or maybe one. I just found out Blackstarrfinale is playing London this wkend though and am going to that so rather amped about it as I loved his album and keen to pay my respects and say hi. I partied too hard the night/day before and missed Dimension 5 last year at Lost Theory, much to my total and utter disappointment.. ugh.. But i guess i have seen a "retro" Green nuns set that my friend got Dick to play on the banks of the Brisbane river. That was definitely awesome. So who (of goa artists only) have you actually seen live, and how was it?

A german article about goa trance written by me
Shpongled247 replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
I can't read German. Thats why i didn't respond. Also, I think a lot of the time people subscribe to the " If you can't say anything nice..." theory with your threads. So there's that. -
I wish i could find that if it still exists as i love both DMB and ice cream... I have had their "Phish Food" flavour, and i love Phish as well... The ice cream however was not my favourite. Too much marshmellow.

I think a big draw of live acts, for me is that they often play unrlsd stuff, even if just a different mix of a live track. Of course they also play a lot of released tracks as well. I saw Derango for the first time last year and I think it was kind of a "best of" mix of known and maybe a few unknown tracks. Was amazing :-)

2014 Festivals - What Styles will be predominant?
Shpongled247 replied to Shpongled247's topic in General Psytrance
Interesting you say full on is dead, as I see a heap of Dacru and Nano bookings as usual :/ Melodic morning full on though is definitely a limited selection atm though I think -
Just as the title says. What do you think is the state of global psy culture at the moment? Which styles will shine brightest this coming summer, leaving some of us seeking solace at camp while others flock to the floor? Is Goa making a nice surge in festival lineups? Is dark and specially minimal stuff dropping off? I think a bit of both but feel "progressive" bookings will dominate the majority of what we hear once again. (Doh!) But of course I am glad to see goa gaining traction these past years. What say you?

I think, based on that preview alone that this is somehow even worse than the last recent album... A slippery slope indeed!
-
Wow.. Just when i thought it couldn't get any worse! https://soundcloud.com/talamasca_official/preview-level9-2 Didn't he only just put out the defiantly non psychedelic "psychedelic trance" album recently! Seriously, a great guy, but why why why are there "epic trance" melodies every second bar the past years. I'll give him one thing, he is prolific i guess..

Albums from the last 4 years no one seems to know about
Shpongled247 replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
Ekoplex - Creatures of the Forest http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/ekoplex-creatures-of-the-forest Really nice "full on" from ray, quite psychedelic and driving, not really light not really dark. Just straight down the line psytrance with a forest theme, but not "forest psy". My favourite release from him. -
Woulda bought all the jeans that day or at least tried em on haha

It will be a precision operation indeed. Front left Speaker yeah. Ill be the guy without dreadlocks. That should stand out

Based on one of my favourite Australian novels, perhaps even favourite, this imagining is actually quite decent. A lot of things are cut of course for length, but I still love it. If you ever wanted an insight into Aussie sharehousing in the late 90s and some great tales, give this a go if you can find it.

Anyone ever stumbled into a random bar or cafe playing psychedelic music? Or heard it in the air only to follow the sound and find it coming from the most unlikely of places? I didn't really stumble into it, but this was definitely up there as weird hah. So a few months ago myself and my lovely gf travelled to Morocco for a few week holiday. After staying in riads traditional style for two weeks, on the last week I booked us into a 5 star resort on the beach of Agadir to finish with some luxury. All very fancy and full of mostly mid 20s or 40-50 yr old retirees. Anyway, every night they would have rubbish "entertainment" downstairs, with bunches of drunk 20 something tourists getting down to the worst of the worst "music" possible. One night however, as it was the middle of the week, we were the only people there. And, in my drunken state (yay all inclusive!) i had endless courage, and went up to the dj in the booth. I told him i would give him money if he let me play some tunes. So, of course, he let me. hah. What occured next was no less than the first time I heard Filterias new album really, really loud, on a decent system, with the dancefloor all to ourselves, while bewildered Morrocan hosts looked on with glee and confusion. It was glorious. hah. No doubt, if regular guests walked into that, me loving it with my head against the speaker almost they would have got quite a shock lol. So, thats the day i got goa played in a five star resort. hah.

If you have a DS i can recommend that one, specially if you have a partner who might give it a try as well. You only need one DS. Basically you can both live in the same town and decorate your house/houses, leave notes for each other, send gifts etc...It is just one of those games that is far more fun when you actually play it than when you describe it, haha. Plus, you don't have to play it a lot, but because it runs on real time, as in the day/night cycle and time follows your actual time, and events happen at certain days, times, months, weeks etc you can just hop in once a day to see whats happening for a bit. Warning though, this game is really reallllly addictive!

An analysis of why Hallucinogen - "Twisted" is so great
Shpongled247 replied to healium's topic in General Psytrance
Banned. joking joking.. But that is odd. Do you like older goa in general? For me the reason lies in a "perfect storm" of a few things. Namely, Simons intricate understanding, and at that time no doubt, absorption of the psychedelic mindset. He really captures and creates psychedelic sounds like no others. Of course along with doing a lot of them, he had to have the incredible synth and production mastery that he had, which came from his dedication at the time, and the fact he was working in a studio throughout his beginnings. The third part is his musical knowledge. Phrasing, point and counterpoint, understanding of tonalities and basically just knowing solid musical theory as a base. He knew the rules and then was able to go ahead and creatively break them. Something all musicians should strive for. So yeah, the perfect storm, at the perfect time. -
MDK was indeed cool when it released. I remember it being bundled with graphic cards I think, at least that's how I got it once. I don't usually like third person action, but it was just so different at the time and had a real distinct vibe about it, couldn't help but love it. Think there was a sequel? That was nowhere as good?
-
Haha Abasio... Nothing wrong with that! I have a friend who is similar. Believe it is actually caused by lack of magnesium. Supplements can stop it entirely if i remember correct.

Well this could be a long list, as I have been playing for over 25 years now.. wow... where did that time go?! I love games in all their forms, and pretty much have loved something in every genre out there. Anyways, will try to keep it short. Your list is quality btw. Defender of the Crown - C64/Amiga 500/NES/Every other version - The first game I was ever actually "addicted" to. No shit, when I was 5 my dad awoke one morning to find me at 4am on the Commodore... I had somehow managed to input the whole loading code thing you had to do back then and had fallen asleep at the keyboard playing. Good times im sure. Daggerfall - PC - The first Elder Scrolls I played and the one with literally the most stuff in it. None since have matched its scope. Ok it was a buggy mess, but god damn was it cool just how much shit was in that game. I remember stealing things from shops and getting chased through towns by angry hordes. This was and maybe still is the biggest rpg I ever played. Thief 1/2 - PC - Not that new shit they f*cked up, the original Thief games had some of the best stealth mechanics ever. And also the best atmosphere. Some of the levels were incredible. Tribes/2/Ascend - PC - First online game I was addicted to, nearly screwed up high school entirely playing that series... Jetpacks, Capture the flag, 64+ players, teamwork...just..yeah. It is amazing. Goldeneye - N64 Probably don't even need to explain, but being a teenager when this came out was awesome. Some of the best split screen multi parties ever. Ok, I have too many. Would also add Ascendancy Master of Orion 2 Civilization - all Baldurs Gate 1/2 Morrowind HOMM 1/2/3/4 Fallout - all, specially 2! Mario Galaxies NBA 2k Series
