Goasia - Amphibians From Spacedock (SUNCD33)
Shpongled247 replied to Anoebis's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Awesome! As someone who loved "From Other Spaces" more than their follow up i am keen to see where this one ends up in my list and how/if they have grown! Samples are sounding nice to the ears, still with that ethnic unmistakeable Goasia vibe that I really dig! -
So in general, what BPM sends you back to camp/to the bar/yanking your headphones out in a hurry? For me, dark psy/"core" above 150+ is usually enough to just sound like shitty gabber to me, or sound really funny or something. 155+ and people arent even dancing anymore, if you have been on one of those dancefloors its just twitching mostly. Sometimes at 150/55 though if tripping it really sounds slowed down to me and i can groove to it quite slowly, probably looks odd to non trippers hah.. Anyway, what bpm are you usually "out" at? Aware this might not apply to those who only like goa here but i think there are a few forest appreciators amongst us as well..

Pls Explain the Difference between these ...

Twilight or night full on yep. Both of which can come under the umbrella of dark psy... I wouldn't get so caught up in all the sub genres if I were you. Too confusing and open to interpretation. -
^ Eat Static set was epic! Reallly good flow and actually first time i have watched live properly. Also, i thought i saw a UFO during his set (of course hah) and was in the middle of strongly convincing my girlfriend when she pointed out that it was one of those flying RC quad copters filming with a light on it. Lol.

Haha, not sure man it was during the day one day in the workshop umm talk area, a day when there wasnt anything on that i needed to dance in the 40 degree heat to hehe. Was indeed open to the crowd taking questions etc, some parts were ok but overall it was just ughhhhh! hah. I swear my perception and the peoples perception here vs outside here of psytrance and what is quality and what is not are almost on completely different planets lol.

Sometimes in the summer night by a stream or lake, or mountains can having some true experiences on these pop songs when deap monments arise. Having not much of bad or negative sounds but instead calming and smooth flowing melody like i always dreamd.

What about "Not really Progressive kinda minimal going nowhere fast and safely edgy house trance" ? Has a certain ring to it no? lol -

Ummm.. So.. its closer to minimal house than anything psychedelic trance in your opinion yeah? That is kind of along the lines of my point.. Thats ok with me, just don't call it progressive psytrance Or at least I wont, I don't care what anyone else calls it tbh. -

Hmmm.. As you kind of allude to though, isn't "progressive psytrance" far, far, farrrr closer to "normal" progressive trance than anything else? As such, I think most of that stuff should just be classified as progressive trance... at least to me, there is nothing psychedelic about it, so there is no genre of progressive psy (a "psychedelic" speech sample does not a psychedelic track make!) In my head anything that just drops out to a bassline i dont classify as psychedelic trance these days lol but I am a purist and don't expect others to think exactly the same -
Last years Lost Theory had a bit of Suomi if i recall. During the day I believe it was played one afternoon at least a few sets. Spun me out actually hearing it on a dancefloor actually haha, was quite cool as I will never in my life hear that back in australia pretty much. I think festivals around that size and going for a maybe more "intimate psychedelic" experience will be your best bet rather than the super huge ones like boom etc. Tangent: But did anyone here catch the "State of Psytrance 2014" panel at Boom?? I did and... hmmm yeah well.. It was the owner of Nano and a couple other people, all into full on and prog only it seemed... Found it odd when they were speaking of how full on is getting "more psychedelic".... Someone in the crowd asked what they thought of the old school revival (i was too shy to ask about goa in front of a crowd lol) and they responded that "old school...well... its probalby just a fad that will pass" and all weren't keen on it lol... Tough talk to sit through for a goa fan lol.

Ah sorry you are right, I shouldn't have listed Tron with the nano stuff. And yeah it actually is a bit different. He was squeezed in between a lot of bad full on imo at Boom the other week so i thought i heard it from afar, turns out perhaps it wasn't him i was thinking of! ^That track is ok reminds me of shift etc. And yup not the generic full on i was talking about. Cheers!
-
Can't agree with the above :/ Tron,Avalon, AMD and in fact all the Nano stuff just screams generic to me... It is frankly disastrous if you have to endure a whole night or day of it... Sounds so so similar it hurts, as though everyone is sharing presets or formulas to make "killah" stuff... Makes me sad about the state of full on :/

The best was that I got to watch Mwnn with Filteria and talk goa finally haha Moments like that make setting up tents in the dark at 1am, cuts on the feet and blistering heat all worthwhile hehe.

Holyyyy shit that is how you do a large scale festival! Not sure how to really sum it up so will just list my highlights and lows if there are any. Highlights/Awesome things: Organisation - Very professional crew and it shows. From the Boom Bus to the Toilets everything was about perfect the entire time. Everything thought of and taken care of. Location - Wow, just wow. I don't want a festival without that lake again haha. So beautiful and perfect giant land area. Bars/Food -Numerous bars selling drinks everywhere and decent food. My Gf loved it being veggo. Goa Afternoon - Filteria, Nebula meltdown, Green Nuns and MWNN all rocked it. Incredible time for me and got to meet Jannis haha. Best time of the festival for me. Lowlights: Camping On a slope - not anyone's fault but mine but I never got much sleep from sliding down my mattress lo. Musical Variety - well it was varied but leant towards a lot of full on in my mind. I knew that going in though and I chose to go knowing that so... Overall an amazing festival, the best I have been to easily even if only about ten sets were to my taste. I knew that going in and the location made it all worthwhile. Hopefully be back again some day!

Boom Festival 2014 - Filteria Video
Shpongled247 replied to Filteria's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
This was amaaazing to be in the crowd for haha. Seems like crowds just get better and better for Filteria sets as the years go on heh. Best energy set of the whole festival, everyone smiling, playing, stomping and just enjoying! -
What music are you listening to right now?
Shpongled247 replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
One of my favourite tracks of last year, and I hated anything minimal before that including his earlier stuff, or so I thought. Surprising what an experience or track or both together can do to ones self! -

Indeed! His albums are really nice. Shame he seems to have put psytrance on hold for now to delve into downtempo stuff! -
Is it supposed to be so fast?? or has something happened with the upload? Sounds like 150+ when i play it?
-
Yeah im not sure on the idea Radi Unless this is secretly the babes of goa trance thread lol if so Michelle is freakin stunning in real life, more so than in pics anyways And you just KNOW Simon tapped that!
-
Nothing better than some good old fashioned female inspiration! Dude, you have seriously Levelled Up in the goa department the past year or so! Nice track indeed
-
Awesome release! Think I can hear Tim has maybe toned down the highs a bit on the bsf track from the original. Either way it still sounds amazing

+1 for Luis Blackstarrfinale. He has the skills and talent to take his crossover style sound to the next level imo. I know he is in no rush to churn out a follow up already though which is both good and bad hah Also Morphic Resonance has a point of difference I can't quite put my finger on but I like it.

Setting up on the third woot! Will save yas a spot haha lol

From finally seeing him live I can say he is great. Some producers you see or meet you can tell they actually have musical talent and passion, others not so much. I don't actually know his background but I just got the feeling he knows a thing or two about music and theory. On stage he seemed like a kind of energetic orchestra conductor, weaving the melodies he had written across my ear lobes. Was so good to see a goa producer still into it so long after his time. And Teleport still brings the house down hah.
