For some reason when it came out 9th took a while for me to warm to. But now it is probably in my top 25 or so goa albums. Really quality floating stuff. The guy knows how to bring a track to life with atmosphere and obviously his melody work is amazing. His earlier work is a bit gritter and as equally amazing, perhaps more so to a lot of people. Been waiting for the next album for what feels like forever, but i can wait longer if its up to his usual standards

^^ This. Fluoro Dolby is actually the superior release of his to my ears. Shorter track list not withstanding of course.

So where is the good Full-On Psy Trance?
Shpongled247 replied to theqlogic87's topic in General Psytrance
Not sure i understand that one. He is actually one of the only artists I know, specially in full on genre, who uses bass melodically and has it changing musically throughout the whole of his tracks... Quite odd when i hear people say something like that. I don't get it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWro34cJS6I Would you rather a straight bassline that never moves kbbb kbbb kbbb kbbB the whole time? Unless you don't mean the notes, and you just mean the timbre or sound of the bass itself, then sure it sounds like a similar bass sound throughout his albums. But why shouldn't it lol. -

Terrafarctyl Melodic morning full on that actually has musical and psychedelic merit imo. -
So, according to everyone who was there, from what I always hear, parties back in the hayday of goa were not so much about the dj playing, as the moment and music itself, and the people around you. DJ's and artists weren't put in some massive booth facing the crowd, and people wouldn't just be facing them the whole time in some kind of strange awe. Often times the dj booth would just be tucked away in some corner while the main area was the dancefloor with everyone facing and interacting with each other. You can check videos like this and similar ones to see what I mean: A lot of times nowdays, everyone faces the front, watching this other human being doing frankly boring things on a constructed stage rather than embracing what is around them and the moment they are in. I too am guilty of this of course! Have we lost something along the way? And are artists/dj being put in a spotlight that perhaps is not the most condusive to psychedelic experiences? What do you think?

Can't help you sorry, but that location looks really nice! -
Out of the loop, need to get back into it.

Well, you have a rather large collection on discogs, makes it a bit hard to see what you don't have already haha But, you dont seem to have this. http://www.discogs.com/Filteria-Lost-In-The-Wild/release/5044853 Filteria - Lost In The Wild Why i chose this album? Because it represents the evolution of Filteria, to me anyways. And frankly, the pinnacle of the modern style of goa trance to my ears. (See i didn't use that word people always bitch about ) It is what i wanted him to become, and he has. If you were along for the ride from the start and heard the evolution then even better, if not well I hope you like where he has ended up, i sure do. :0 -

Hey yup, got our tickets and flights sorted a few weeks back. Fly to Madrid two days before and get the boom bus to festival from there the day before it starts. Was just trying to organise what supplies etc we are taking hence this thread heh.

Cheers mate, kinda confirms my fears haha.. It does seem a mostly australian thing hey, so odd! Nothing better than mixing up a nice strong cocktail of your choice with mass ice in the middle of the day! Guess I won't be needing the esky then doh!
-
Can someone tell me if they sell ice at Boom? Frozen water I mean. Like each day of a festival in Australia there would be an ice truck rolling round with bags of ice for sale. It is a saviour. In Europe so far I haven't seen any, as they sell their own drinks at the bar.. Still I need ice for my drinks and don't understand why they wouldn't have them. So do they?

I think I must listen to this. Wonder if the mix/mastering has changed to bring stuff forward a bit. Anyway I'm sure it will be good. -

Haha sorry Radi, I am nice yes. But sometimes I think you do my head in lol. Of course you can talk about the same groups over and over its just that they probably aren't going to get the replies you want. I mean its not astral projection.com or something haha. Sorry if u thought I was harsh wasn't meaning to be, and i could nevarr labelt you down, you make me laugh man.

Fantastic tracks ruined by mastering/mixing.
Shpongled247 replied to Penzoline's topic in General Psytrance
Nice post Richpa. Anyway, I kind of wish Tim Schuldt would come in this thread and drop some knowledge on people himself lol Not sure why he is even being mentioned lol If anyone knows how to master goa trance it is him.. -
I think it's fine. The actual problem probably is that users see a lot of your exact same threads every week so just think why bother. Specially lurkers who don't post. Why the fuck would they bother to post in your 500th astral projection melancholic (lol) track thread. Give me a freaking break man and indeet maybe write something new and constructive. You will notice threads that are interesting get replies, ones that don't, won't. Ever.

Australian Prog: the thread lol... Throw in the recent influx of Serbian style prog and the absolute disaster of full on the past few years and you got yourself a shit stew cookin'

What is so great about Psytrance festivals?
Shpongled247 replied to Robbelaar's topic in General Psytrance
Love them sober as well as not. Love them in all states actually. Unfortunate u didnt enjoy your first one john, were u with good friends at least? I find, for your first few it is great to have friends to party with. Doubly so if you plan on experimenting hah.. -
I watched Occulus, a fairly new horror movie last week. For a horror movie these days it was quite good and actually it is more of a trippy kind of horror, thats why i watched it. Would give a 7/10 or so and recommend for fans of trippiness and horror, much better than a lot of the rubbish horror movies these days.

What is so great about Psytrance festivals?
Shpongled247 replied to Robbelaar's topic in General Psytrance
The Music! Heh, but yes really its the people that make it what it is. A great party or festival happens when the right people come together and The Vibe is just perfect! You know those moments when you look around, the sun is coming up or going down, and everyone around you is smiling, laughing, stomping and just embracing the moment and the music. I've had some of my most "enlightening" experiences on dancefloors at festivals and its something I hope everyone gets to experience. The sense of community at psy gatherings can't really be beat in my mind. Even on the other side of the world you so quickly make friends. Its an open space where anything goes and everyone is free to be themselves, wherever they are from or whatever they are into. Thats what makes it so special to me. Just an anecdote but after I took my girlfriend to her first party, when just the week before she said my music sounded like "video game music" and knew nothing about it, she absolutely loved it and now a few years later still can't get enough and often wants to go to more of them than me! (I'm a bit more picky musically in my age hah ) So yup, they are amazing and one of my favourite things in the world! Bring on Boooom!
