Explaination of Goa/Psy Vs. [Regular] Trance
longloststar replied to Helios909 (rx7style)'s topic in General Psytrance
Why is it unreasonable to hold that the principle of a genré can be so flawed, that good music cannot be produced under it? Of course, there can always be catchy melodies and such, but even if you humm "baby hit me one more time" for an entire week, you can still understand that the music is shit. -
Explaination of Goa/Psy Vs. [Regular] Trance

Non-psy trance is garbage. Yes/No? Yes. -
This is surprisingly deep and creative stuff, stamp of approval hereby applied. EDIT: After a few more listens; this is even better than I thought, three thumbs up.

Who cares about Asura, I just hope this hiatus was involuntary, such as being trapped in a cave or smacked in the head by a guy with a blunt object, because I need someone to tell me what goa I should listen to.

Excellent album, although I find track 9 annoying as hell. It shares its weakness with other heavily sample-focused tracks such as Talpa - People Are Animals and Nystagmus - Tommy Is Dead. While good music in itself has great replay value, people talking (particularly about uninteresting subjects) have very little replay value; probably since the brain has an easy time memorizing speech.
-
How could I forget: Nystagmus - Soulgasm More like, "Ear Ejaculation". Also, Jikkenteki - Warmth in Other/Cold Places, the final melody Should be a classic by now.
-
Puff Dragon - Sazanami This might not be a far cry. In any case, quite excellent stuff.

Pleiadians - Boarding Pass to Balangan

Actually, I wanted to hear this as well, since the breaks truly make his music stand out. Check out the second part of Molecular Design, for example, absolutely beautiful.

Thank you for that piece of information Ormion, it will make the sweet summer sun even sweeter!

I cry myself to sleep every night over the fact that Psyfactor choosed to abandon the chillout style after his superb Endless Universe.

YES! Unfortunately, the ravishing depth of this album is well hidden beneath a surface of monotonous basses and synth, so that most will put it away and think that they have understood it, long before the truth holds. Let me go ahead and recommend: Psydrop - Fantasy Seeds Smooth, positive full-on at its best.

These should be the obvious choices for psydub: Ott - In Dub Ott - Blumencraft For more expiremental stuff (haven't heard the track you mentioned, so it is probably much a much different style, since 'experimental' is a vague concept) you may want to check out (samples first, though): Kukan Dub Lagan - Life is Nice For more traditional (psy?)dub, I can recommend: VA - Youth - A New Chapter In Dub Vol.2 - The Secret Language Of Ordinary Objects

I think we all have understanding for the priority of matters of real life, however, is there no one else that can do the work? Its not like it requires some particular expertise, its counting votes.

This is beautiful and special stuff. The artist has a great sense of easing, slightly nostalgic and often optimistic melodies. I hope to hear more from him in this vein of music.

Usually I find that the connotations of songs; the places they take you, the feelings they imbue you with, depend on your actual experiences and emotions at the time when you first began to understand the music at hand. Only rarely, I feel, does music have the power to, by itself, create these settings within you; to in some strange way permit the percieving of sound, to transcend both senses and words, to create a deeply satisfying sensation of escapism. To me, Solid State doubtlessly has this ability. This is advanced, mature and intelligent crafting of sound waves. 5/5 EDIT: Just saw a picture of 12 Moons, which has made me appreciate this album even more, since he has the nice hardy face of a man who doesn't get everything for free in life.

Bump for Talpa news. I know some guy around here usually has a good check on him.

Power Source - Cosmic Waves (Album) Asia 2001 - Live (Album) Also, I suppose California Sunshine, although most of their stuff is shitty as hell. Astral Projection should be a given. People Can Fly in particular sounds quite similar to Salvi Da Tori.

The Best Psychill Albums of All Time
longloststar replied to Chillseeker's topic in General Psytrance
The Orb - Orbus Terrarum In fact, I feel it might be the best album in any category. -
Tamlin - Spectrogram 1. Perspective 2. Release 3. Switch 4. Catalysk 5. Contrastion 6. Playtime Adventure 7. Psychedelic Exp 8. Nowhere Fast 9. Somewhirl 10. Pax Nostra 11. Bonus (Turrican remake) Get samples here, I recommend you check out track 2 to begin with Mostly venting my excitement about this wonderful release and encouraging more skilled reviewers to type a few words. Tamlin has several tracks released on compilations from Vertigo, Faerie Dragon and GI'IWA. This is his debut full length. The style is set to finnish madness combined with old school goa vibes, which I suppose is becoming the new school goa, with so many quality releases. Tamlin combines high speed dancefloor abilities with interesting and highly psychedelic experiences, such as the excellent track 2, Release, which rougly, much in accordance with its name, is one great build up. Also, the Turrican remake bonus track is much better than the half-hearted attempt by Tea Chairs. 4.5/5

Adding to the praise, this is truly beautifully crafted stuff. The Path is very powerful and almost strangely emotional (this goes for several tracks).

Whatever, it sounds fine. Personally Im hoping for a second album from this guy.

Wonderful review, Jon Cocco, and some nice insights in the concluding paragraph.

My guess is that you havent taken the time to discover the complexities of the album (based on that you probably havent listen to it very long at all). Mostly bad and shallow music allows itself to be found instantly appealing; it is those albums that you will soon forget. Putting aside that your critizism is at best very poor ("Melodies are in every track. They are just there just like that." for example), it is interesting that you despite the poor review call it good compared to "other modern newchool goa trance albums released last years." Many on this forum believes that there has been a good number of quality new school goa released the last couple of years (Mindsphere, Goasia, Afgin, just to name a few) with a lot of both heart and soul. That you give this album a bad review yet call it good in comparison clearly indicates that (any of the following) i) you do not understand/like goa, ii) you believe that new school goa cannot be as good as old school and therefore do not give it a chance, more than a couple of listens. Did you enjoy Ra's first album? If no, GTFO. In fact, I feel annoyed, GTFO anyway.
