Are you seriously into that kind of stuff? I cannot foresee anything good coming out of it. Either you are being scammed, are scamming yourself, or are planning on scamming others. Don't do it!

About to finish Russell's "History of Western Philosophy", which is mostly a highly biased account of the (in Russell's view negative) influences of religion on the cultural, philosophical and scientific development of the western world. Since I cannot confirm the validity of the claims he make, I cannot either recommend the book.

Very poor mastering and cheesy melody, thus a mere 1/10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t2kp7-p5bM

Best Neo-Goa album in the past five years?
longloststar replied to healium's topic in General Psytrance
Ra - 9th Back To Space, Inner Cyclone and Daze of Our Lives are up there as well. -

Problem rendering a track on FL
longloststar replied to Oopie's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Try to fiddle around with the audio devices (Options > Audio settings > Input/Output). That has worked for me on occasion. Also, try to identify if there are any specific VST that cause the breakdown, or add particularly to it, by systematically removing/readding each one (make sure to get each instance). -

This is genuinely a forgotten, or at least neglected, masterpiece of psytrance. It is an album described by the color gray, or perhaps a murky brown, it is a vision of a Lovecraftian universe, in complete disregard for the feeble human morality, for the absurd discerning of purpose in a world ruled by the great randomiser. By a beautiful homogeneity, every track is of equally high level, which is a rare fact, and a signal of brilliance, because: Any savvy nerd can make a descent, perhaps good, perhaps brilliant track, given enough tries and experience. But in the end, there will always be a kind of yield attributed to the output of the artist, he might be able to discern himself among his work, and to the outside show himself as a master, but to himself, the outcome of producing a good track is always no more than a statistical variable, and the probability of it occurring, seems to me, to be profoundly related to whatever happens in the artist brain as he produces, to his level of brilliance. That is why, for example, Posford demands such respect, because mostly everything he does has an undeniable quality to it, while the same is not true for others (perhaps most), who have just a few great pieces among their work. A short detour, which I'll humor myself with not deleting. Verdict: A classic.

I think that there are reasons to question this whole project of "perfecting production" (or the fact that this is possible at all). What is production quality? Why does crystal-clear sound have anything to do with perfection? What has really improved about the music with the increased power of computers? And has whatever that is, actually made the music better? I think that the reason to be skeptical towards this idea of production-progression is similar to the reason to be skeptical towards the value of fame and fortune in life. It's all surface, it's stuff we quickly get used to, and then notice the important aspects instead and feel that we have wasted our time, caring about something useless to begin with.

Ordered: Orbus Terrarum (unlike anything else, a masterpiece that transcended not only its time, but also the grasp of most critics and fans, those who were tricked into dismissal by an expectation of something much more easily digestible) Adventures Unordered: Orblivion Cydonia U.F.Orb The rest I did not quite enjoy as much. "Baghdad Batteries" I found decent but ultimately lacking vision and innovation. I shall go ahead and add a recommendation for temporary but important Orb-member Thomas Fehlmann here. He is some sort of a venerable king of classy gentleman's evening electronica, "Visions of Blah" is his magnum opus, but a case can also be made for "Honigpumpe". Check those out if you would do me the favor of sharing my joy for his work.

Found this to be a good, pleasant, well-made but ultimately harmless piece, superior to most other attempts in the genre (progressive trance) but inferior to the artist's own masterpiece "EarthShine". The style lends itself to easy comparison to "EarthShine" (though this work leans much more towards progressive than trance), the intensity has been toned down, as well as the power of the melodies, which adds to the forging of a smooth journey that the listener ventures on with the firm belief that she will be back safely, which she in fact will be. The quality of the artist's work is undeniable, and a more appropriate comparison is to the supposed ambitions of the work, which I assume are those mirrored by all works in the progressive genre, to which extent "Random Friday" performs exceptionally well. Overall, I recommend this piece highly.

the most aggressive, atmospheric Goa TRance
longloststar replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
When I think of aggressive GOA, Filteria comes instantly to mind. The examples you mention, however, don't sound much like Filteria. I don't think that sound is extremely unique, you might be able to find a similar track or two on a lot of old school albums. Also, perhaps something like Tandu/Pigs In Space? -
So what do you think about the new Kindzadza?
longloststar replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
Check out Enichkin's latest album, Krakoziabry, if you enjoy this. It's similar in speed and use of melody. -
From a movie with Jodie Foster, called "Little Man Tate". Judging from the sample, I suppose its quite terrible.

Terrafractyl is good. His previous album was good. His side projects are good. This album is good. Don't mind other opinions, because they are biased, this one is not. Pay money, obtain this music, listen to it and don't worry, because everything will work out just fine.

Ra keeping it real without the obtrusive full-on bass lines, that make the division between new school and old school goa so clear and unfortunate. Their work has such impressive cohesiveness and a rare kind of intelligent atmosphere to it. Lifethread is the standout track here, for me, followed perhaps by Filteria's addictively melodious remix.
